Hi! Klaus Schulze was (R.I.P. my dearest Klaus) dedicated to sound, soundscapes and really one of the biggest in synth music, ever. I attended a concert in 1990 in Cologne, Germany, right in front of the cathedral...the beautiful KS-synth-basses...I still 'feel' them. You have to grow into Schulze's music. The pure sounds, the intelligent compositions: unique! Your analysis is a fine one and thanks for uploading this typical 70's atmospheric sounding beauty! All the best from The Netherlands. Klaus filled our hearts with beauty, love and dignity.

krautrock but also early electronic pioneers of german music is a rabbit hole. funny thing is, I am german and yet americans, to be more specific Paul Riedl from Blood Incantation whom I interviewed once opened this genre totally new for me and I did not bother with it one bit before... but stuff like Einstürzende Neubauten, CAN, Neu!, Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, also stuff like Kraftwerk and many others had such a big inspiration on lots of different genres from techno to metal to world music all over the world and it makes me a little bit proud. weird entry point indeed, my favorite is probably "Kontinuum", but lots of cool stuff in the discography.

This might be not the best choice to get into Schulze ) It's rather weird piece even by his standards. From Picture Music on it's more "normal" and accessible.

Timewind and Mirage are my favourites from Schulze. Also easier to get into than pre-Picture Music era.

Spotify often lists the date of the first digital release, or of specific remasters. This looks like it has a 1974 original release date. I thought it sounded earlier than late 70's, based on what I have previously heard of German electronic music.

That's even wilder then. Definitely way ahead of his time

@@CriticalReactions Yes, it was released in 1974, around the same time as Phaedra by Tangerine Dream. Those were the beginnings of "Berlin School" of electronic music.
The operatic vocals here is a real recorded singer btw, but heavily modified through various effects.
