    The person who comes up with the best cross from bodybuilding to powerlifting or visa versa will be a genius. I always saw it like this
    . You've got an off-season and an on season. Then it splits into two separate sports. Off season powerlifting is like bodybuilding that transfers into an in season peaking cycle. On the other end off season bodybuilding is like powerlifting that transfers into an in season training cycle.
    The only seperating factor is whether your a bodybuilder or a powerlifter. Then it breaks down into this.
    Less than 1% of all interested people, become elite bodybuilders or elite powerlifters.
    Then you've got this one. Hit both. For the vast majority of ppl the average of the two extremes trumps.

    I believe that for best results, a hybrid approach is best. Powerbuilding as it is called.
    Train main competition lifts in low reps for CNS efficiency. Train close variations of lifts, assistance exercises, and isolation stuff in moderate rep ranges for hypertrophy. Best of both sides.

      Switched to that style thanks to Bromley actually.

    Bodybuilding and powerlifting are all about your reasons for lifting, do you do it to visually look good or do you do it to see how strong you can get,they are two completely different goals and each requires a different approach.

    At what point exactly does working out in the gym become bodybuilding?. I would argue that to be a bodybuilder, at least once per year you need to get on stage in a pair of trunks and take part in a bodybuilding show.
    Likewise, to say you're a powerlifter you need to take part in a powerlifting competition at minimum once per year. Just because you workout in the 1-3 rep range, that doesn't make you a powerlifter

    • @cromdevotee449
      @cromdevotee449 Год назад +6

      To be a powerlifter, you should probably be competing or at least testing yourself on the powerlifts fairly often. But to be a bodybuilder all you have to do is train to build your body rather than your total or your performance on a specific lift. So while powerlifting is a competitive endeavour intrinsically, bodybuilding is not.

      Agreed 100%, you're just a dude who lifts until you step on the stage.
      It's like saying you race cars just because you speed on back roads, otherwise.

      Would you call someone a runner if they actively run as a hobby and are good at it but don't really attend competitions? Or if someone paints good paintings but they don't make a living out of it?
      I think of it that if someone bodybuilds, they're a bodybuilding hobbyist. If someone mainly trains SBD for low reps, they're a powerlifting hobbyist. They're not pro, but they're involved in the sport and the culture in the form of a hobby.
