In bodybuilding goal should be to lift as light as possible to become as big as possible. In powerlifting goal should be to lift as heavy as possible while staying as small as possible.

Excellent point. I'd add that this applies if you are compiting in either. If you are a recreational dude then I'd say, no matter wheather you prefer BB or PL, that you should aspire to get as jacked, big and strong as possible and thus 'bridging the gap' so to speak between the two sports.

Yes for the guys that compete. Powerbuilding for everyone else.

Most people used to get into training because they wanted to get bigger in general. So even if powerlifting they wanted to go up weight classes. Now if you have some nice lifts relatively quick I think those guys start looking at staying in certain wt class. Now I hear the guys all talking aesthetic s.

“Every day in the day is it’s own day.” Well said. Follow your mind and body connection. Train as your mind wants.

Weight going up BECAUSE you need more stimulus is a wonderful way of looking at progressive overload 😁

Great guest. Would love to see Dante Trudel and some of the older Russian (east european) lifters (english speakers) to discuss training protocols in Eastern Europe.

When it comes to giving advice, powerlifters and bodybuilders are either ultra-sensitive or really helpful.

A lot of the structure comes from the better understanding of the science that goes into strength training whether the goal is hypertrophy or strength. The structure and plan is good for certain types of people, the stuff you’re talking about is good for other types

Personally I've had this conversation with a lot of older guys at the gym, When you've been going to the gym for long enough It's a night and day difference. People have lost sights between the differences between Powerlifting and Bodybuilding - They end up being non efficient in both as a result or just questioning why they're not building muscle.

So do you think powerlifting or just some focused strength training is beneficial for people new to training? I still believe like some strength focused and of course higher rep is the way to go. I just think the faster you can get some strength the easier you can get gain some muscle. I know you can be really strong and not have large muscles, but for the most part they go hand in hand? Not saying you need to do super low reps much or any but definitely progressive overload even if you focus more on 8-12 reps

to me people new to training need to learn how to do all exercises properly first before anything. i see plenty of dudes at the gym who have a goal but are doing things completely wrong
