    I'm in love. Don't tell my Hubby. Actually he's in love too. We are about to pack it up and follow Blake Mills wherever he plays. We are sorry we just woke up to discover his existence a few weeks ago and saw him at Great American Music Hall in SF. Now we are his biggest fans.

    Blake has a sloppiness to his playing that's so hard to emulate.. not bad sloppiness.. amazing sloppiness.. he has so much ry cooder in his playing.. his use of rhythm boogie woogie style low string thing he does is right from RY.. blake is insane!

    Damn. I already loved Blake, but this is so beautiful and free. He's emerged into being a producerly soundscape creator which I also love, but as a guitarist he is fabulous.

      With all due respect, mayer is not even close

      @@Way_loz Mayer may not be a slide player, but to say he is not even close is just silly. He is up there along with some of the greatest players of all time. These thing always come down to personal taste - and to me both Blake Mills and John Mayer are two of my absolute favorites.
      Those who like Blake should also listen to Ry Cooder, who is THE slide player in my book.

      @@AndyPandyh i know cooder as well.
      What im sayin here is that mayer limit himself to the mainstream sounds and music, blake goes through a lot of genres and styles and nails everything very good, also he is a talented producer. Mayer is a guitarist, Blake is a musician, again with all the due respect for Mayer

    • @AndyPandyh
      @AndyPandyh 2 года назад

      @@Way_loz I agree with you that Mayer is perhaps not a producer, but he is more than just a guitar player. He is also a singer/songwriter and he writes great music.
      Mayer has also traversed many different genres (many more than Blake in fact) and so he is not just «mainstream» - he is pop, blues, country, rock, ballads, and he is the ultimate guitar player to go along with every single genre. He is also rocking The Dead shows as one of their lead guitarists, which is no small feat on it’s own.
      So to say «Mayer is not even close», to me that just makes no sense.

      @@AndyPandyh i think you should listen to more Mills to realize what im saying, you're figureing him out just as the talented slide guitar player.
