NOTE: Please keep in mind, we understand that video games, like Gran Turismo, are used to simulate driving on a track in a race. We are familiar with that idea and how it works. The idea that seems strange is that video game does not simulate what a driver *feels* when racing. You don't feel the centrifugal force of making a turn at a high speed. You don't feel when the appropriate time to brake or accelerate is like you do when actually driving. Please keep this in mind when commenting. You don't need to throw two cents in about how or why they use video games as simulation...we get that point. 😉
And by saying that you should also realise that you only get the basic understanding of the tracks. You get more feeling if you drive a simulator with Hydraulic that simulates braking, spinning and so on and the real experience when you are at the track for real. Also you don't get to race the real cars instantly.... You gonna start slowly with slower cars and step by step get to the faster cars Formula 1 drivers use such simulators to learn the tracks.
A lot of drivers today are coming in just playing games. It happens A LOT now. In all motor sports. The technology of driving games are ridiculously good and CAN translate to real life.
It was base of the life of Jann Mardenborough a Pro Gran Turismo Gamer that was Sponored to be a Real Race Car Driver.. he made history to ve the youngest winner of GT academy and Compete in Le Mans. And he still competing.. From Gamer to Real Life Pro Race Car Driver..
By the way, that has happened in NASCAR too. Kids compete in Iracing and if they have enough talent and dominate in the game simulator sometimes sponsors and teams will put money behind those drivers to help develop in through the ranks. The most successful driver that has come through that type of program is William Byron, who replaced Jeff Gordon in the 24 car once he retired.
The GT Academy was a real thing and a number of Gran Turismo players have become real world race car drivers. Gran Turismo is also a Esport with competitions all over the world. The GT World Series. It's also an official Olympic Esport now (Since GT Sport). GT Academy or Nissan PlayStation academy was during the GT6 era and professional GT players got a chance to become real world race car drivers, and some did. A lot of professional race car drivers have come from sim racing (iRacing, Gran Turismo etc), and a lot of race car drivers practice and even compete in sim racing in the off season. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is one of the most famous examples of someone who raced/practiced in sim racing and competed in the real world. It's not as far fetched as some might think.
the movie is about conditioning the person for that racing irl. also a car can be measured 0-60. weight to brake ratios are all calculated. easy with proper programing. i know F1 racers have their own in house Sims for practice.
the most important thing in racing is - someone wakes you up at 4AM and lets you drive Nurburgring Nordschleife which is 21km long and you still make no mistake, bcs even your muscle memory remembers every single corner...real life pilots dont get to do one single track so often...GT player knows all of them
My guy, if you’re THAT behind on videogames to not understand that this day and age its as normal as it gets for a driving videogame to have realistic REAL-LIFE controls to maneuver?… then thats a heads up to start updating on technology! You dont want to be another grandpa saying “why get those modern phones when mine works just fine” and when the time comes you end up asking for help 200 times a day because you stayed so far behind that life LITERALLY moved on 10,000 steps without you. Whoever doesnt move with technology stays behind completely!!!💯💯
Gran Turismo isn't called the real driving simulator for no reason. Gran turismo has no "story" the game is literally just driving (racing). It's not like Need for Speed. You break too late or take turns incorrectly, and you will be sent to the wall. You can't just go into a turn going 100mph and go through it perfectly.
in the video game..they are actually racing the exact same Tracks that the professional racers are driving on..... never heard of this game or Jann.M irl story..wow.. imma woman & i really like the film 8/10
You can learn how to race in a racing simulator game such as Gran Turismo just like pilots learn flying in a flying simulator. Is it going to be the same thing? No. But it's very accurate and made to simulate as much as possible from the real world. Best Gran Turismo players go into a Nissan academy every year where they can bevome professional racers. Lots of people have had stories like that. The guy in the movie is just one of them.
tetris wasnt the making of tetris, it was already made, they were trying to licence it for the gameboy. man you guys have no research or movie knowledge. just rants
Um…we know…we have both seen Tetris and love it. Please feel free to follow us at our Letterboxd accounts we mention so you can research and verify that we do, in fact, know what we are talking about.
@@Cinefanatics so why say wrong things, bad analogies and spend a bunch of time talking about ow fake something is when it’s literally the story of a real person. Trash, do better research

Your comment here is just as poor as your reation.

Igor Fraga is currently racing in real life in SUPER GT 2023 and he got the drive by being a Gran Turismo player.

How do you think pilots learn how to fly planes?
Acadamies like that actually exist though

You guys are funny
Simracing isn't videogame. Try iRacing for example, its so realistic it doesn't even feel like a game, its like a training kit.
It's not like the Tetris movie... More along the lines of the mario bros.3 commercial movie The Wizard!

If you say so…really nitpicking to be honest, but sure.
facts lol they talk about sim racing and racing in general like they are expertsw when they couldn't be less knowledgable lol
@@supermccnasty4176 they mocked something they were not familliar with, which is quiet childish.
I don’t think you understand what a driving simulator is lol real driver have been using games to practice for a while now
This movie was so stupid I walked out mid movie and jumped in another movie... wasn't for me
bro was too dumb to understand the plot.
