    Hi Cindy & Doug, I am a jewelry designer who is always seeking the best way to make my Jewelry stand out above the rest. Being new to the polymer clay art form and I am loving everything about it. I just raided my button jar and my cork cup (from years of saving corks) and I have made some really cool stamps. Thank you so much for the tutorials. Thanks to your Husband for keeping you in frame so I can actually see what you are doing. I am learning so much. And looking forward to the next tutorial.

    I was a hobbyist when I first discovered your channel 5 years ago .now I have a simi steady income as an artist. My focus is sculpting animals with polymer clay, however I am so thankful for your channel so often you have tips like this that I know I can use . Your most helpful tip was one on baking times. that really helped me make long lasting durable sculptures that i could sell. You have so many great ideas like using buttons for texture that would never have occurred to me ! Your videos always encourage me to take my art to new levels

    I found a container full of different buttons at a yard sale for 50 cents and couldn't wait to try this. What a wonderful idea. Very easy to make and works great. I will never over look buttons again. Thanks

    I have a drawer full of wine corks! (don't judge me LOL!) and wanted to do something with them. My MIL just gave me a box of old buttons so I know what I'm doing the next few days.

    With bigger buttons, you can hold them in your hand (Or slide a toothpick in the buttonhole on the back) so you don't have to add a cork handle on. And you can use all kinds of stuff to be the handle... a lego piece, an empty chapstick tube (don't glue the lid closed on the chapstick, you can pop the lid off and use it as a small cookie cutter), a cleaned (and I like to debark) piece of stick from your yard, or even a small cleaned stone. Plus, your handle may come with its own texture for you to use.
    You can also use popsicle sticks to glue a pattern of buttons on to make stamping bars to cover large areas at a time. (I like to make them have two sticks. Space two sticks flat down with a small gap between them. Run the line of glue between the sticks and add the buttons on top of the glue, pushing the backs into it. You can make a bunch of rows together to make a large stamp pad, too. If it feels flimsy when you are done, you can cut a piece of cardboard to fit and glue it on the back, making it a stronger piece.) 🙂🙂🙂

      That would be wonderful Pearl! They also work for stamping ink on paper but it works better if there is something a little squishy like a mouse pad or craft foam behind it, since the buttons are hard and don't have any give. :)

    Hey I did not know that you have "Bonne Maman" jam in Canada ! :p
    That's a great idea ! I use silicone mold putty to make some cool textures but these buttons are so pretty ! If you remember La Sphere Creative channel she made a wonderful necklace with a kind of flower button with leather effect if you want to take a look ;)
    Thanks for this video Cindy

      I love that jam! It has the prettiest jars. I have probably 15 of those jars filled will sewing notions. They look so charming on the shelves of my grandma's sewing cabinet! I'll go check out that tutorial if I ge the chance. It sounds interesting!

  • @aspirecan4829
    @aspirecan4829 2 года назад

    Hi! This is such a cool, inexpensive idea. However, if like me, you don't drink alcohol, you can purchase wine corks for crafting off of Amazon. I saw 50 for only $9.42, and that was just looking real quick. You may be able to find them even cheaper. Or, if you have a friend who likes wine, ask them for their left over corks. Yeah, you'll probably get a odd look, but it doesn't cost any money! 😁

    Great idea!! I wonder if this stamp can be used for wax seals???

    • @PolymerClayTutor
      @PolymerClayTutor  5 лет назад

      Yes these button stamps should work for wax seals, though I think I would dampen the button with water first, so the wax releases from the stamp. Metal wax seal stamps, release the wax because the metal absorbs the heat and the wax cools and pulls away quickly. That "heat sink" thing wouldn't happen the same way with a plastic button.

    Why does it HAVE to be polymer clay? What about other types of clay?

  • @jessicajoy2409
