Thanks for the video. I wish someone would do a bio story about him. Zamora had a explosive start to his career, started 20-0 with 20 KOs. Got his first title win at 21yrs, 21st fight, and 21st KO of Soo Hong. He reached 29-0 with 29 Knock Outs that included 5 title wins, and did it in less than 4 YEARS! Thats right he fought over 6 times per year! On his 30th fight he lost for the first time, and lost by KO to the great Carlos Zarate. He could have been better, perhaps his trainers could have worked his defense, expand his weapons for angles of attack or just slowed his career down to prepare for opponents more. He is in my top 10 Mexican Boxers of All time, and similar to Salvador Sanchez... a bright star that did not last long enough.
Cuyo Hernández school,,.. definitely one of the best trainer of the world..Zamora, Zárate, Olivares, and Ricardo Lopez in his early start...Arturo "cuyo" Hernandez..master mind.. rest in peace..
He punched extremely hard. He would exchange; he did not retreat out of situation. His way of being in close-quarters battle was unusual, even against tall opponents. He would find their chin, regardless. His hook was a KO wrecking ball.
Shame that his "prime" was only at the age of 22, such talent, beautiful striking. Would be interesting to see his "real" prime, how far he would get. Wilfred Benitez, Mike Tyson, Salvador Sanchez, Naseem Hamed, Michael Nunn now Alfonso Zamora, ah....what a damn shame we couldn't see these(and many other!) guys realize their full or at least near full potential. FUCK!
The term " Mexican style" is over used today, even by some Mexican fighters. But this guy HAD IT. He WAS a MEXICAN fighter. He threw bombs, didn't duck anybody, and win or lose he gave it his all. A lot of the " supposed" Mexican fighters today could take a lesson. This guy wasn't protected and never robbed the fans of anything.
Sparring Is called " hacer guantes" . I sparred one of his pupils. M..cker lift me off the ground twice with uppers on the ribs. Of course he did no damage. But man, he had some power. I had to counter him twice then we agreed a drew We made friends.
Zamora was a hard puncher, but he was never the same fighter after the 4th round KO loss to Zarate in 1977. he would fight 8 more times after that. He would win 4 and lose 4.
Zarate exposed him and Zamora's career fell flat afterwards. Just relied on punching power, no boxing skills what so ever. Zarate is an ATG whereas Zamora is just a puncher
I half agree with that, I think exposed is a bit too strong of a word. Zamora's greatest asset was his punching power but he wasn't a complete novice in terms of boxing skills he definitely knew a thing or 2. Got to keep in mind Zarate had a huge size advantage over almost any Bantamweight in history.
Well we honestly say that Mexico has had great fighters in its hay day. But im still waiting in the next big star and please don't say Canelo. Jes good bit far from being a great fighter. I'd say you can give that titke to. . . . Rafa"Dinamita" Marquez. His destruction of Many Paquiao was in my opinion, one of the greatest KO's in the history of the sport. Not only was he losing by a few points but , his face said it all in that last round before the explosion that was heard around the world. Absolutely insane!

Entreno a Alexis Arquello en sus comiensos
I knew his style looked familiar after watching his ko of Eusebio Pedroza.
Zamora had the power. It had nothing to do with cuyo.
Cuyo was a great manager but not that good as a trainer.
The first knock out of the video was fucking beautiful, too much elegance, too much class and power.
That was eusebio "el alacran" pedroza gettin ko'd
@@spanishrockIncredible, Pedroza was a beast!
The leverage he gets into his punches are incredible

Zamora v Zarate was great while it lasted!

and will be a champion in the superbatamweight but sadley fighting with zarate is the worst choice in his carer
I guess the Zarate highlights had to be cut for obvious reasons, lol.
