Looks like the modes switch up on a timer. We had rubber duck for an hour and then it rotated to happy birthday. Same for the missions. I like how that can keep it fresh. Shop is a little pricey but for day one, the game has some meat on it. You got more pve than Overwatch in 7 years.

I don't think this game will last long with splatoon 3 side order and i have heard a lot of negative feedback from non Nintendo fans and the game isn't getting a lot of buzz Edited The game is a decent splatoon alternative but a lot of people who played foamstars never played Splatoon the third game current season is living up to it's hype but some of the skins and other stuff for foamstars seems to be warning signs of short term success and with the lack of marketing and square seem to be thinking it will be a success without effort to make a success.

The third game keeps getting better with the recent update having a lot of positive feedback and I'm not making up that part its more positive on Nintendo life Twitter and reddit is full on negative. Foamstars from what is going on has these unsurprisingly mixed reviews the OG splatoon had a lot of positive reviews before it got tweaked. I'm not surprised Foamstars is losing traction and Playstation fanboys are just saying that the reviews are "haters"
This game looks pretty fun, although personally, I would still stick with Splatoon due its better worldbuilding and story (I'm addicted to the lore of it lmaooo)! Foamstars doesn't seem to have a proper campaign but when it comes to multiplayer, it looks hella fun, probably even more chaotic than Splatoon 3's chaos theme! I do have a PS4 (unsure if it will run it tho), but I haven't used it in a long time since I have a PC. I also don't really like how they've monetized stuff (cosmetic packs in a paid game, which are also pretty expensive), not to mention that they've used AI image generation, which I'm against... When it comes to PC (better if it's on steam), I'll still consider trying it out, but due to the 2 factors I gave above I'm not sure if I'll be getting it. I'm very open to this new genre though, since the competition can help pressure Nintendo into making a better multiplayer experience for Splatoon! [Singleplayer already has a lot of effort and experience put into it, multiplayer has had effort, but some stuff aren't designed well]
I'm ngl, I was unaware there had even been lore in splatoon. I spent so many hours on it, but I only did the PvP aspect. Is it good? What is the actual story about? I might have to revisit it. For the AI images, they've said it was only for the soundtrack art. Everything else was drawn and made by humans. (their real words were "000.1% of the game is ai generated") They were looking for ways to make creating games easier. I think every developer would want to use anything to help ensure quality and provide a faster release window for players to enjoy the game.

Right before getting to the top, you're greeted by a boss battle where Agent 3's mind got hijacked remotely by the phone using primordial/sanitized ooze, but it only sticks to their head as it's just in its ealry stages. After defeating them, you get to the surface, and you meet Off the Hook face to face. They then airlift you, Cuttlefish, and unconscious Agent 3 using a platform carried by a Chinook-like helicopter. Right after this, the exit you went out of rises and reveals itself to be a human statue, which also has a doomsday device in it that'll fire at Inkopolis, sanitizing everyone in it. This is piloted by Commander Tartar, the phone earlier, who's also the AI the professor earlier made, and it was disgusted by how marine life developed. It also went insane due to loneliness from not having a companion and all humans being dead , so that could also be a factor. The statue was powered by Solar energy, so Agent 8 covered it up with ink with the help of Marina's hyperbombs. Kinda too tired to discuss Splatoon 3'a story and lore [I haven't even touched S2's Octo Expansion concept art, which was way creepier than the final release] cuz it's 2am for me rn, but you should check out Splatoon 3's main campaign, Return of the Mammalians, and it’s upcoming Rogue-lite DLC that's releasing this week on Feb 22, Splatoon 3 Side Order! Yes, it's a real base game. You'll need to purchase it like any other game on Xbox pass or PlayStation pass if you want to play it without their service. As far as microtransactions go, yes that's there too. Every game has them though, so I never really understood that gripe with the game. 🤔

That's true, that's why I tend not to play games like that. Ironically, I cover one on my channel though LMAO. Transactions in this game are like... fortnite or apex legends, cosmetic and something you can opt into. If you choose not to, you're not missing anything. I just am a sucker for cosmetics, which is why fortnite and apex have my money. 😂 Fortnite had my money even before it became free to play, bought it for 40 bucks and bought skins they had before. (fortnite didn't used to be free)

Any time a game comes out and it's somewhat similar to a game that they like, they'll all call come together and just bully it for just existing. Platform fighters, kart racing games, party games, jrpgs, and farming games. Every game is an inferior clone to them. They also hate that Palworld game. I never really got the appeal of Splatoon. It always looked boring to me. When Foamstars first got announced, I thought it looked more interesting tbh.

That's fine if Splatoon doesn't appeal to you, but for me, I like Splatoon's more cartoony visual style and worldbuilding! I also am obsessed with its lore as it's pretty interesting and suprisingly dark! Foamstars doesn't seem to have a story or proper lore, but it seems to excel in the multiplayer aspect, but the foam is a bit too bright lol! I'll still consider trying Foamstars out if it comes to Steam, but it's unlikely because of them using AI art and they're selling overpriced cosmetics.

Yea, it's in rotation. I reaaaallly want ranked. I'd LOVE to really see the competitive side of players. 😎 Happy bath party is pretty lit too. The 2v2 aspect while 2 on the outside are helping is a unique take. Brings me back to my old "Gears Of War" days. Actually....all the modes bring me back to those days. I love seeing they put a lot of thought behind each and every decision made for the game, I hope they can keep the steam in the future!

No worries, I'm just trying to understand how devs, customer support, designers, voices actors, managers, etc, the list really goes on and on. I'm trying to understand how they get paid without people spending money. If anything (doesn't need to be a game) wants to add content over a period of time and the only money they have to go off of is the initial purchase, where does the money come from? Making a grind for the players to unlock things for free doesn't generate money (they do have tons of items you can grind for btw, skins included). Then if we really go ham and factor Sony's share for being on the platform, the government's share, and Lord knows who else. Who will pay them? I'd understand if they kept spamming ads to purchase or the game was pay to win, but the items are pretty fair priced and they are optional/cosmetic. There is no real reason to purchase unless you want to. I think sometimes we have to look to the outside and think of others and not just us as players. Our happiness does not continue to keep a game in service, our money does. That's why I was confused with the initial comment.
I have and like Splatoon a lot. Bought all dlc for it. Foamstars is more of my cup of tea though, but both games are really awesome and good at what they do.

After this you needed to fight DJ Octavio, the king of the Octarian army.
Same thing with splat2, but you play as Agent 4, and one of the members of the squid sisters, [and agents], Callie, goes missing and gets brainswashed by DJ Octavio. You get her back by the end.
Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion:
NOW WE'RE GETTING INTO THE REAAAAL JUICY STUFF!! Or should I say, smoothie?
Anyways, in this DLC, you play as Applicant 10,008, an octoling, who finds themselves in the Deepsea Metro [they also lost all their memories] along with Cpt. Cuttlefish, who named them Agent 8 to shorten the long name. They also get into contact with Splatoon 2's idol group Off the Hook, consisting of rich kid Pearl and genius ex-octarian military engineer Marina, through Cuttlefish's radio. They also meet a talking telephone in the central station of the Metro, and it gives instruction to go to the "Promised Land" [surface] by collecting 4 "thangs". They needed to go through tests guided by CQ cumber, the train conductor. These tests involved tests of skills in combat, puzzle solving, and precision. In combat, Agent 8 had to fight sanitized octarians and octolings [To visualize, I have a sanitized octoling as my pfp], which don't have life signals and have little to no free will due to being injected or showered with sanitized ooze. Basically, zombies that are intelligent and can use guns.
After acquiring all 4 thangs, the telephone assembles it. Afterwards Agent 8 and Cuttlefish go in the assembled machine, and almost get bleneded alive and are saved by Agent 3 from the 1st game. [This also means that the test subjects before you got blended alive once they completed the tests]. After this, you needed to escape to the surface. Right before getting to the top, you're greeted by a boss battle where Agent 3's mind got hijacked remotely by the phone using primordial/sanitized ooze, but it only sticks to their head as it's just in its ealry stages. After defeating them, you get to the surface, and you meet Off the Hook face to face. They then airlift you, Cuttlefish, and unconscious Agent 3 using a platform carried by a Chinook-like helicopter. Right after this, the exit you went out of rises and reveals itself to be a human statue, which also has a doomsday device in it that'll fire at Inkopolis, sanitizing everyone in it. This is piloted by Commander Tartar, the phone earlier, who's also the AI the professor earlier made, and it was disgusted by how marine life developed. It also went insane due to loneliness from not having a companion and all humans being dead , so that could also be a factor.
The statue was powered by Solar energy, so Agent 8 covered it up with ink with the help of Marina's hyperbombs.
Kinda too tired to discuss Splatoon 3'a story and lore [I haven't even touched S2's Octo Expansion concept art, which was way creepier than the final release] cuz it's 2am for me rn, but you should check out Splatoon 3's main campaign, Return of the Mammalians, and it’s upcoming Rogue-lite DLC that's releasing this week on Feb 22, Splatoon 3 Side Order!

Yes, it's a real base game. You'll need to purchase it like any other game on Xbox pass or PlayStation pass if you want to play it without their service.
As far as microtransactions go, yes that's there too. Every game has them though, so I never really understood that gripe with the game. 🤔

I'm glad to see someone speaking positively about this game because Nintendo fans are toxic asf towards this game. Well, any game. Any time a game comes out and it's somewhat similar to a game that they like, they'll all call come together and just bully it for just existing. Platform fighters, kart racing games, party games, jrpgs, and farming games. Every game is an inferior clone to them. They also hate that Palworld game. I never really got the appeal of Splatoon. It always looked boring to me. When Foamstars first got announced, I thought it looked more interesting tbh.

Splatoon 3 isn't any better tbh. Almost everywhere I go I keep seeing hate posts that Splatoon 3 is garbage. So they can hate all they want on foamstars, but Splatoon 3 is in a poor state.
That's fine if Splatoon doesn't appeal to you, but for me, I like Splatoon's more cartoony visual style and worldbuilding! I also am obsessed with its lore as it's pretty interesting and suprisingly dark!
Foamstars doesn't seem to have a story or proper lore, but it seems to excel in the multiplayer aspect, but the foam is a bit too bright lol! I'll still consider trying Foamstars out if it comes to Steam, but it's unlikely because of them using AI art and they're selling overpriced cosmetics.

Happy bath party is pretty lit too. The 2v2 aspect while 2 on the outside are helping is a unique take. Brings me back to my old "Gears Of War" days. Actually....all the modes bring me back to those days.

So it is Splatoon minus the personality and speed. And you have to use real money to unlock things.
It has similar aspects to Splatoon, but it's an entirely different game. I'm proud of them.
It's like...Dota/LeagueOfLegends, Smashbrothers/AllstarsBrawl, MarioKart/DisneySpeedstorm, Streetfighter/Tekken.
Similar, but different. It's really well done. I will say as someone who has played them both a ton, this game has more depth to what it's trying to do. I guess the best way to say it is Splatoon was made for a family/kids, this game is more towards young adults and adults. (not to say one is better than the other, both solid games)

In terms of paid games and cosmetics. The game gives you some free ones, but there are loads of games that paywall cosmetics.
Example, Persona 5. GREAT game, but tons of costumes are behind paywalls. That game cost a ton and it's not live serviced, however, they have micro transactions.
I don't know, to me it seems like no matter how well someone or something does, there is always some card that gets pulled out.
Honestly though, end of the day can't make everyone happy and someone will always have something to say.

I have seen many live service games successfully be able to earn whatever you want for free but you just have to try much much harder maybe with some bundles with exclusive skins etc etc (examples of this are arknights, dead ahead ZW, and hilariously enough among us)

If anything (doesn't need to be a game) wants to add content over a period of time and the only money they have to go off of is the initial purchase, where does the money come from?
Making a grind for the players to unlock things for free doesn't generate money (they do have tons of items you can grind for btw, skins included).
Then if we really go ham and factor Sony's share for being on the platform, the government's share, and Lord knows who else. Who will pay them?
I'd understand if they kept spamming ads to purchase or the game was pay to win, but the items are pretty fair priced and they are optional/cosmetic. There is no real reason to purchase unless you want to.
I think sometimes we have to look to the outside and think of others and not just us as players. Our happiness does not continue to keep a game in service, our money does.
