the pick style is nice, but there's effects, so you really cant get a clear understanding of what the actual pup sounds like by itself. All these pickups are factored off the original fender 63's, but aggies have a more balanced output i hear without too much big boomy lows of the PV63's
I am not a wealthy person, so expensive Fender or boutique basses are not in my budget. I will be purchasing a Marcus Miller P5, some Labella flats, and replacing the stock pickup with the AG 4p-60. Thanks for the content. It was helpful in making my decision.
another reason is because they used to handwound pickups, and some pickups are wound with more coil as it is just impossible to count up to 5000 wounds
Sounds really good. Looking for a replacement for my 2010 American Std P Bass. I feel the stock P/U's are kinda dull. Looking at these and the Fender 62's or Bill Lawrence P-46's….
Woww.....this tone is awesone this is what i love to hear and to play on but can i get this tone without that aguilar amp....i mean direct to sound interface
Hey man, great review! Let me ask you a question: I got an AG-5P-60 pickup (similar to yours, but for 5-string basses) and installed it in a new bass I got from a luthier. However, I'm getting a lot of humming, even with the luthier having reportedly shielded the pickup. Did you also notice any humming in your bass after installing it, or is it silent for you? (Mine hums a lot when I'm not touching the strings.)
Hm, I'm not sure about that. My bass doesn't have that issue, and I'm not really a technician so I don't think I can help. Maybe take it to a tech or call up Aguilar? They're really good with support and will help you out I'm sure!
Hey man, sorry for the delay! So, in the end it was the luthier that screwed up, he switched the phase of one of the coils, and then insisted in trying to make it work without switching back, then broke the wire and... well, in the end I had to buy another pickup (he basically broke the other one), but then I took the bass to another luthier, and now it sounds beautifully! Took me a few months to sort this out (and some back-and-forth with electrical technicians), but it's finally working. :-)
Playing starts at 3:19 if you don't need the introduction.
Jon Maghini installed these pickups on my '78 P-bass. They sound great! He also put on new pots, which are like butter.
That's awesome Ronnie, I bet it sounds killer!
That's the tone I remember from my '60s p-bass. Nice.
That second groove is funky as fuck.
Great playing and great tone! I ordered one for my Squier VM 5 string just after watching your video.
Pascal Grenier Awesome Pascal! I hope you enjoy them!
I'm really diggin' the tone you get when using a pick :)
These PUs pack some punch. Great demo Jayme.
From 4:22 to 4:40 the drums are so loud you can hardly hear the bass !
When does the playing start and the talking stop!?
Your playing is so tasteful! I came to hear the pick ups, but I'll subscribe because of your playing.
Haha thanks! I'm glad you liked it :)

Based on the pick tone, I put this in my 2011 P Deluxe American and love it.
Awesome! Glad to have helped :)

I'll put that on the books for next time ;) Thanks for reaching out!
big fan! just started watching last year but I WANT TO SEE YOU ON UPRIGHT CUZ THAT DOUBLE BASS YOU HAVE IN THE BACK IS BEAUTIFUL D:

What did you end up going with? I think both the Lawrence and 62's are great (I have the lawrence but am considering the aguilar 60s)
Have you compared this AG-4P-60 to the Aguilar Hot-P pickup?
I have not but I want to very badly!
@@deadbeatstudios🙏🏼
Ate they punchy and loud in person ? Kinda hard to tell sometime on video. But yeah I live aguilar gear so I will probably get these
Manuel Tovar I definitely think so!
Woww.....this tone is awesone this is what i love to hear and to play on but can i get this tone without that aguilar amp....i mean direct to sound interface
Sounds great man, what pre is in there?
Sounds great....Billy Sheehan would be envious!
That's certainly not true :) But thank you!
it's passive, no pre :)
Great sound and playing. But I truelly can't understand, was it flatwounds on the demo?
+Гурт Санмай Thank you! Some of them were, yes :)
Nice review and great playing!
So will the pickup upgrade double the total cost to about a 100 bucks in total?
I’m really trying to decide between the Aguilar and the Fender CS 62 pickup. Did you guys have any experience with one or both?
Great demo man!
What kind of strings you have on it??? I really like this sound!!
Do you remember what Nordstrand pickups you had back on that bass? Was it the NP4 or the NP4v? Just curious... Thanks!
***** I think they were the NP4's
does this sound better than seymour dun cans pickups?
One way to find out :)
But yes, I think so!
Rounds or flats?
Sorry im using my cell to watch this . But what p bass are you using ? And love the pups im getting some for my fender p. Thx Jody
***** Yes you're correct, it's an M Bass made by Jon Maghini :)
It's an M Bass made by Jon Maghini. He makes pretty much all of my basses :)
Great Sound. Which Distortion Pedal did you use?
StreetSoul77 I believe this is an Xotic Bass BB Preamp for this demonstration. Great sounding pedal!
Jayme Lewis Thank you Jayme!! Cheers from Germany.
Are you endorsed by Aguilar?
I am an Aguilar Artist, yes.
thanks!
thanks man!
What did you use to get that dirty sound?
It should be an Xotic Bass BB Preamp. Great overdrive tone!
Too bad they don't make an AG-4P-70 ...

Great to hear! I bet it sounds great now :)
how much $ ??
Uff-da! Sounds excellent!
Thank you Chris!
hoingy-boingy
Nice video !
Just question have you got Hum with this pickup ?
Also what is the distortion effect used with the pick style ?
Thanks
Thanks Stefanovic! I don't get hum with this pickup and I probably used a Bass BB Premap by Xotic for the overdrive :)
Jayme Lewis
Thanks for your answer, I already tried the pickups since I asked you. haha
It's the Xotic ? Sounds pretty good !
Ya, that Xotic is my favorit when it comes to overdrive. Simply incredible :)
I'm sure it's on its way :)
Sweet!!!
Thanks Jose!
didnt know you were the same person without the beard, lol
Muito bom !
haha, ya that's what I get for being lazy and not wanting to refilm it ;)
