1951 Ford F1: Video #12 -- Hood lettering & paint mystery

I just didn't like the color on the truck's hood spear letters and decided to redo them... again. I think this is the third paint I purchased for this. It still isn't exactly right (it really should be flat paint) but it's good enough that I'm going to go with it for now.
While stripping off the old lettering I decided to experiment with the one area of the rig that isn't original patina: the right rear fender. A previous owner slapped some brown primer paint on it for some mysterious reason and I wanted to see what was underneath.
The results are... surprising!

I have a couple of old Fords and on one of them I wanted to clean up and paint the letters for the hubcaps. I did just like you and the results looked the same. Later I found where you could order decals for each letter. I stripped the paint off and applied the decals and they look great! You might check and see of there are decals that fit.
