- The culture behind slimming world and there "Sins" system does not make any sense. It's horridly bad, and promotes terrible eating habits which ruin peoples perception of a healthy diet.

Slimming world works for lots of people, in my small town, it's more than a diet, it's a group where people who struggle with their weight can go and feel supported. I've seen people reverse their diabetes, leave toxic relationships, be able to get pregnant after years of infertility and lots more by being a part of group.
If fruit is Smashed or cooked it justloses it filling power and Synnis short for Synergy wish people read / Understand the program before blurt out the wrong Info coz they just don't understand the plan 🙃

Most of the foods that are "syn'd" are processed junk which are bad for you anyway, or snacks and treats which you're still allowed, but the key is having it in moderation. Willpower and moderation is what is lacking in a lot of people's diets, hence why they're overweight and unhealthy. You make out like it's normal for people to eat junk food, but they're not going to lose weight doing that.
She's ignoring the fact that Slimming World encourages people to eat lots of types of food in abundance.
When you chew it sends a signal to your stomach to create acid in preparation for food… if you mash up a banana, you chew it less and almost drink it, which doesn’t prepare the stomach… also the chewing of food and mastication uses the enzymes in your saliva to start breaking down food which is a vital part of the process…. Also in regards when you have a smoothie, not only do you ingest MORE of the fruit, but you physically stop yourself from breaking down the important fibre yourself through chewing the food and are basically just drinking the sugar content….

It's more the case that people may put 3 bananas in a smoothie but wouldn't sit down and actually eat 3 bananas. If you wanted a banana you could mash up the one banana. Slimming world does work. I've lost a lot of weight following it.
If you eat a banana one will probably be enough ..if you make a smoothie you could use 2 or 3 bananas without a second thought .... If you dont understand that you can over eat no point me explaining

Educate yourself! Slimming world works for many people. If you don't like it, just say, that doesn't work for me! Also, its a sYn not a sIn. Slimming world balances out food. A smoothie with fruit, frozen fruit and water is fine! Things that they put in store bought smoothies can be bad sometimes which is why its syns. Stop talking hate about something that works

Mashed banana is 5 syns because it's already partially digested. If you eat it, there's not much for your mouth to do apart from swallow. Chewing is the first stage of digestion, when saliva is secreted and the jaw starts moving, it sends signals to the brain that digestion is occurring. That's why eating whole fruit will always fill you up more than a fruit smoothie. That's why the plan encourages eating more whole foods and less processed foods. Hope that helps.

@@zaeny This. Mashed up makes you want more of it because the first stage of digestion has been removed, hence the syn value. If you're mindful of this then it's fine, but unfortunately most people aren't mindful when it comes to healthy eating habits.
I totally agree with this one i think the only food that is sin is sugar and processed foods i don’t believe in counting calories thats what people with eating disorders do, all have do have what want just make less is u just need to do is get small bowl and small plate it give right amount thats all have do u dont need scales for cutting ur food down is common sense. Its like a doughnut just cut in half or like hand of fist tell how much to eat its easy but dont go by paper or people to tell me what i should it eat its not natural. Your body will tell you what it needs even if it’s healthy, got a tune in. 🤔
With weight watchers, if mashed banana was 5, and regular was 0, id count as 2 or 3.
