  • Recently, I did another UberEats shop and pay order! Are these orders worth it? In this video I will share two tips to help you do these Uber Eats Shop And Pay Orders faster and accurately. I will also walk you through the app so you can see what a shop and pay order is like. This order involved alcohol so I will also show you those steps in the app.
After watching the video do you think shop and pay orders are miserable or are they a viable alternative to the regular food deliveries?
    Have a good one!

Russ, thank you for your time and advice making this video. I have only done one shop and deliver myself because it was a very bad experience which basically took nearly an hour and I made something like $5. I know there is probably a learning curve and that's why I'm watching videos like yours.
I had a slight issue finding the item, store employees had no idea what it was (2 boxes of medical type gloves), I had trouble scanning them, then the store's pos wouldn't take my uber one card. I called support and they said I could use my card and get reimbursed, then had trouble finding the dropoff and when I did the person who I was supposed to deliver to was not there. I also don't know if I ever got reimbursed and not sure how to find out.
I do have a specific question. I currently am earning 5% on my Discover card at grocery stores, so have thought about using it to pay, but not sure about the reimbursing time and so forth. Any thoughts?

You've already seen how UberEats treats you so I don't recommend you use your personal card at all. Most (all?) of the apps don't allow you use use your personal cards or rewards programs. It's a good way to get deactivated. So, although tempting to get a little extra by using your card I wouldn't trust UberEats to reimburse you.
On Instacart I've used my personal card and got reimbursed fine and then I didn't want an order to go to waste and so I used my personal card to get the customer what they wanted (which didn't match with the app). I ended up getting stuck with the $30 purchase. So....
Plus thinks of all the unpaid time you'll waste interacting with Uber Eats....
Yes, there is a learning curve and I've had terrible orders like that too. Do a few more until you are proficient and then you'll know the time commitment it takes to do these orders vs. food delivery.

Ya, getting a case of beer is one thing but multiple products is a recipe for disaster. You mention minutes when fuel is measured in mileage. There are +'s and -"s with the Uber app. Customer service is not the greatest, mostly giving apologies instead of solutions. Waste of time. Just picking up an order at pickup in Walmart parking lot is not worth it. Most Uber fares I like are short trips for max pay. This not only increases payout but decreases expenses ie fuel. You mentioned doing 4 of these per hour gives $32, but you fail to mention that not likely you will get 4 milk runs in that hour and also not considering expenses and taxes. $32 gross say travelling 6 miles each trip roughly gives about $20 net. This kind of system will only benefit Uber and the possibly the customer. Why? Uber takes a portion no matter what, the customer gets the product or compensation. You do all the leg work for minimal pay and time and headache. I had to return a whole grocery order to Walmart at my own expense and Uber gives a couple of bucks. This may have changed a bit on the receipt end but not worth it. My way is 5 to 6 trips an hour at $5 makes $25 to $30 gross with less headache.
The acceptance rate is sometimes the Achilles heal. Low rate gives crappy fares, sometimes but it comes down to strategy. The Algorithm is a bit of a learning curve. Stay in one spot, move to a busy area, not necessarily a Hot Zone. Less drivers more fares! Even if my acceptance rate is 50% and I'm the only one at that particular restaurant or store, guess what! Also Uber and customer picked locations, closing times are a consideration. Restaurant closes at 9pm near customers house and no driver there, but you are at another location where restaurant is still open or has later close time. This is where the distance and fare game is played. I've seen $5 for going 25 miles. Profit $0 and maybe you even pay to deliver to keep your acceptance rate. Be choosy! Strategize! and make money, why else are you doing this?

Worst for me is Walmart: vegs and fruits often bad quality, no help around, long line up.
Best are Pharmacies, quick in-and-out: often stoners orders:- just a couple of candy bags and drinks.
Edit: I might take groceries orders in slow time - especially the morning. But, I don’t won’t to be stuck in a grocery store during lunch/dinner/busy hours. Too much time can be lost.

Got a notice about 2 months back from uber eats regarding shop and pay. our completion rating is based on customer satisfaction, which in turn is based on how much of the order is fulfilled. And we are being held responsible for whatever the store screws up. So if the customer is pissed that the store is out of items that were promised and replacements aren't good, cost more or unavailable, well we get crapped on instead of the store..
SO I'm not doing shop and pay, until Uber eats changes that policy.

Shop & Pay orders are my most favourite type of orders to take. However, UberEats is a side gig for me so I cherry pick the orders. If Uber says that it will take an hour - then I will not take it for anything less than minimum wage. This leads to A LOT of declining but then it tweaks the algorithm to start offering me the higher offers more often than the garbage orders. I barely take alcohol delivery near me because it's a $3 base bay and most of the time there is barely a tip if any. I never take regular orders that low so why would I want the hassle of the extra ID scanning etc. High item counts aren't always as bad as it looks at first.. Sometimes, it's multiples of the same item like 5 bananas or 2 of this & 2 of that. If you have a regular grocery store that you know well - it goes by sooooo fast....

    • @TheRussRyde
      @TheRussRyde  3 месяца назад +2

This is great insight, thank you! Daryl Delivers also gets really great UberEats offers because he only accepts great orders. Makes me think about taking low paying orders of any kind. “They” will just send more to me. When I stop accepting every order as my “experiment” then I should do the same. In California we do earn “extra” money from a law prop 22 which entices me to take any order. Thank you for making me think more about this! Russ

Then the store was out of stock of one item so i choose a replacement and the bar code wouldnt scan so i had to just say i couldnt find the replacement and my phone died so i had to pay with my own money instead of the uber plus card.
