You are so right. I couldn't believe the huge sadness I felt, and that I actually cried for someone I have never even met. Yet he felt such a part of my life. I grew up watching Lily Savage when she first appeared, and I was in my early 20's. I introduced my Mom to the character, and we would both laugh our heads off watching her. Paul had a wonderful, warm personality, and even though we never met him, we felt like we knew him. He is a massive loss to all who loved him.😞

Paul is still a legend, i had the pleasure of meeting him when he came to present a "National Prize" winners cheque (£10,000) at the bingo i worked in, in Liverpool in the early 90's. When he came out on stage dressed as Lilly and went into his rapure with a packed/sell out bingo night. There wasn't a straight face or anyone without sore sides through laughing. Paul we miss you so much. Hope your up there in the heavens still making them laugh, my late mum (who passed away in March 2023) loved you so much. RIP sir for you shall be in our hearts forever.
I can't say I'm a fan of drag in general, and modern drag especially, but Lily (and Paul) will always hold a place in my heart. This brings back such memories for me, laughing my head of with my nan. Truly a national treasure and we are worse off without Paul.

I live in Houston, Texas, and I'm 75 years old. I have admired and enjoyed drag queens all my life. But I've never heard of Lily. I'm so glad I found her because she is fantastic!! I also discovered Danny Larue. They live on in our hearts. I love you Lily. ❤❤
Pauls' talent and humanity is still sorely missed in my household. I continually watch clips of Lilly savage on you tube and of Paul on his own show. Two distinctly different characters, both loved because of the caustic humour of Lilly and the warmth of Paul. It's sad to realise that there will be no new appearances to appreciate. To say thank you for the laughter and thought provoking moments is an understatement.

There was something special about Paul & Lily. Lily’s presents on national TV made such a huge positive impact on drag communities and the LGBTQ+ communities and he made such great headway in winning the public over. Such a great individual to watch. I felt Lily & Paul were friends that made you laugh, cry, down to earth, brilliant quick one liners and just all rounding genuine human being. Pity Lilly never wrote her memoirs, the book would have been hilarious, & a best seller, maybe someone will do her autobiography, if the weather is very rainy this summer, it will be because Lilly has the angels piising themselves laughing,!!!!
