I like to imagine that in some alternate universe River Phoenix was still alive and end up playing the Joseph role opposite Joaquin. Walhberg was good but the prospect of having that real life sibling chemistry in this movie would've been mind blowing.
Yeah this movie was severely overlooked. And now with Phoenix coming out in Joker, is all but forgotten. What a shame. We own the night was a great movie. Easily a 8.5 out of 10. The only thing that hurts the movie is the rushed ending. Feels rushed or thrown together in my opinion.
“give him a bath” 🛀 😂 Bubble baths in jail!! Must be how it is when ur daddy is king cop of NYC back in the day! 👑 👮🏻♀️ This movie will never ever not be my all time favorite...So much amazing acting in every second from start (Eva n Joq 🤤👅) to finish...Why can’t they make movies like this anymore!!! And D. WALLburg...Amazing as usual!
Mark was around 36 when this film was released, and his character had been on the force for approximately 11 years as of March 1989 (beginning his career circa early 1978 after graduating as the salutatorian (the second-highest-ranking student) of his graduating class from John Jay). Joaquin's character would ultimately graduate in early November 1989 as the valedictorian (the highest-performing student) of his graduating class from the NYPD Police Academy.
For me Joaquin is Commodus no matter who he could play more annoying and hatred than that caesar or more grotesque and genuine in his role of Joker..damn he deserved Oscar that time
One of the best movies ever made!! Flawless acting from the whole cast.
I second, third, fourth......you get the idea.
Quality movie.
So rare today.

If you ever had brother or brothers? This scene always gets me!
Joaquin Phoenix is one of the most underrated actors ever imo.
He was underrated 4 years ago.
He ain’t underrated no more.
The fight that they had in The Yards was brutal. Im shocked that neither one of them broke any bones.
Can’t go wrong with Duvall, Wahlberg and Phoenix
You can definitely go wrong with Wahlberg.

It was an independent film. These types of films typically dont get alot of attention.
@@anthonycampos8057 mmm, I don't think it was an independent film. I believe it was distributed by a major film company

2:05 That part became unintentionally hilarious a few years later when Mark Wahlberg lusted after Eva Mendes in The Other Guys.

Love this movie
Joaquin and Mark Mark getting a fight again.
As someone with 2 older brothers and a younger brother, this scene is accurate to everyone with brothers.
Yes I know, it's a movie
Johnny cash going crazy there
@Tyler Brown he must've really hated Marky Mark's rap so much !😅
Puerto Rican women are driving these men crazy😂🇵🇷🔥
Me and my brothers life
Where's the sequel we always wanted??!
Kenai is saying bad words!!! What if he says those swear words to Koda if was mad at him? Lol!!! 😂
Joaquin Phoenix & Mark Wahlberg Were In The Yards (2000) Movie Roles Robert "Bobby" Grusinsky & Captain Joseph " Joe" Grusinsky

I saw what the protagonist detective went through and he suffered enough as an undercover, I don't give what Mark's character did.
Wouldn’t Mark be too young in Real Life to be a Captain????? Sergeant or Lieutenant would have been more appropriate for his age.
