Their participation for Switzerland was so random. 😂
Interesting that "Club Kung-fu" was so popular in Estonia and even in some European countries, but they placed only 9th in the national selection, just because of jury voting.
I really like ”Birds of peace”. They were much better than Gerli Padar imo. ❤️
*Estonia didn't qualify in final in 2005 and Estonian band qualify for Switzerland. That irony! "Cool Vibes" is masterpiece, still listening that song to this day! :))))*
Its as basic as can be... Lol "masterpiece"
@@achnix3167 *I have an right to think that "Cool Vibes" is masterpiece. We are living in a free world evetyone has its own opinion!*
@@lepiaf6452 its not a masterpiece stfu
Well, call it like "masterpiece" is little bit exagerated but it's true that it was a ray of light for the bad records of Switzerland in the 2000s
Living in England Vanilla Ninja singing ‘Cool Vibes’ is the only Estonian (Swiss) ESC song I can remember or even know about, and since 18+ years later we are still listening it, I'd most definitely say 'Cool Vibes' was the masterpiece and deserved to win. 🥇
You are missing Piret's group Disko 4000 singing Ei usu from Eesti Laul 2010. She sang lead vocals for them.
Oh. Thank you for that info!
Switzerland or Estonia needs to pick this group up again!
Interesting to see this especially Maarja in 2002. Didn’t one year Piret Jarvis have an entry in against Lenna Kuurmaa?
Vanilla Ninja actually beat Estonia going into the actual ESC finals in 2005, and were tipped to win it. Plus in my opinion they were the best and ‘Cool Vibes’ should have won.
‘Birds Of Peace’ won The Viña del Mar Festival 2008 in Chile.
Probably down to song choice but a pity Lenna Kuurmaa didn’t succeed to represent Estonia, as she is the amazing talent and was a real world class singer. Plus I think Lenna deserved it. But at least Lenna actually performed and was successful at ESC, and 18+ years later people from around the world still listen ‘Cool Vibes’.
Her 2010 entry was kinda strange since it was the televote winner in the first round but she lost the second round where there was tele only, same thing happened in 2013 and 2014.
Also they lost the Viña del Mar Festival 🙃🙃🙃
I love how some songs of Vanilla Ninja made it in rhythm video games. They deserve much popularity.
Which Rhythm games btw?
@@alexthehidingninja their song "Tough Enough" appeared on Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 2 and Dancing Stage Fusion
@@nockeynoo thanks
Staying with Eesti Laul I have two requests.
All entires by Jaan Pehk.
All entries writen by Aapo Ilves.
I can't blame Estonia for not sending them. None of their Eesti Laul entries (as a band or solo) was up to parts with 'Cool Vibes'
Fun fact: "Birds of Peace" didn't represented Estonia in Eurovision 2007 but they made it to represent Estonia in Viña del Mar Festival 2008 (it won the "Gaviota de Plata" -Silver Seagull- for Best Interpreters but lost the First Place -it won Italy and Domenico Protino with
"La guerra dei trent' anni"-)
Cool video.
Can anyone explain how it happened that they represented Switzerland?
Their producer and manager back in 2005 was David Brandes, who is Swiss by nationality. (David Brandes was btw also one of the songwriters for the German entry in 2005)
@@Qndrj thank you ☺️
"Club Kung-Fu" - The ESC sensation that never was (due to the national jury) 😓😓
@michaelmeyers9 Indeed Kerli Kivilaan is a member of VN. She is since February 2022.
never knew kerli was one of the vanilla ninja girls wow
Yep. She is the newest member of the band after the reunion (replacing her sister)
