  • Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga debuted to critical acclaim, but weak box office sales. Monte and DoA discuss George Miller's latest effort and whether it lives up to the Mad Max legacy. With compelling performances from Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy, Furiosa continues in the vein of Fury Road with epic chase sequences and further world-building around the Citadel of the film. The question remains: did anyone actually want this prequel or would it have been better to continue where Fury Road left off?

    i feel like DoA judges most the shows and films as "how good is this compared to all the other slop that came out this year" Where as Monty is thinking more "how good is this compared to all the other things i could be doing"
    A lot of the disagreement boils down to one of them considers average good enough and the other doesnt

    Furiosa's the kind of movie where if you just switch your brain off and don't think about things overly deeply, it's entertaining

    Hey DoA, hope you see this (don't have twitter) but I just wanted to thank you again for taking the time out of your weekend to meet and talk to me at the Flesh and Blood US Nats this weekend, it was fantastic getting to chat with you after watching you and Monte for years from the early days of LCK was so happy to finally meet at least one of you at an event. Hopefully one day I'll get to chat with Monte. Can't wait to catch up on these episodes from you guys and hope to see you again and get to chat at future FaB events! Thanks again for taking the time, it meant a lot!

    Moreso than Garfield, i would want Nerd Legion to do Alita: Battle Angel to see DoA be enthralled with the universe while Monte is upset at the anime eyes imposed on real people.

    Just watched Furiosa yesterday with my friends and they all loved it (none of them have seen any of the greatest movies or fury road). The movie definitely lacked the "epicness" and seemed too literal compared to fury road. Things like that sped up footage of building the war rig really takes away the mythical benefits of the story. The music also didn't vary enough compared to fury road, but I liked that almost throught the entire movie there was a rhythm beating in the background. Jack is a huge miss. Clearly he should have looked like the most decorated war boy and be more Immortan Joe themed. The movie is fine but lacks reasons to rewatch it. Definitely wish we got another film about Max rather than this.

    We do need one more Mad Max movie with an older Mad Max Mel Gibson returning to give us a true finale to the Mad Max saga. Letting Furiosa be the last movie is just wrong.

    I think this movie has been hard done by online and by the lack of ticket sales. I thought this movie was absolutely fantastic. I have Fury Road as one of the best movies of the 2010s so it was unrealistic for Furiosa to live up to it. Having said that, as a movie on it's own I thought it was very good. You can argue that the first hour or so 'drags' but I really loved the world building and showing us parts of The Wasteland previously not explored. I think that Fury Road was always Furiosa's story so having a movie fully realise her arc was very fitting. Also, it's probably key to mention that this entire story was fully written and created before Miller even started filming Fury Road. That is why the two films perfectly transition from one to another if you are to watch them chronologically. The set pieces were great, the main actors were great, and some of the action scenes had real Fury Road vibes to them. I think people who came into watching this movie with the expectations of it to be as airtight as Fury Road were always gonna be let down.

    I'm a bit disappointed they didnt talk about, how furiosa was written before fury road and intended as a anime released a year after fury road.
    Also I watched furiosa with two friends who have never seen fury road and they enjoyed it way more than I have ( having seen fury road).

    This movie was so disappointing. Maybe it's cause I also watched fury road the day before, I was so hyped but was so let down. The movie is not bad but it's not good either. It's best action is just a worse copy of fury road and honestly the entire story was boring and kindof stupid.

    Yah so Montes critique is you should spend 15 years finishing a story so that you can completely flesh out the world but only tell me that one story because I am a smart big boy who can come up with rest on my own.

      Monte - “Why is the main action set piece (debatable)with a random villain and not Dementus vs Morton Joe?”
      Answer because the movie is not called “Mad Max: Dementus”…Sounds like Monte wants a prequel of Dementus :)

      thats not his point. when you have a masterpiece like fury road, going back to a prequel can never be satisfying. vador was better before you knew anakin. same for furiosa and the world of mad max in general.

    • @RoryMurtagh-ig1hb
      @RoryMurtagh-ig1hb 14 дней назад

      @@aim120C understood but if you are just critiquing a prequel, can your main critique be that it is a prequel?

    • @uhmmmFU
      @uhmmmFU 8 дней назад

      @@RoryMurtagh-ig1hb The problem is that prequels get too caught up overexplaining and showing stuff that is referenced in the main story instead of telling a new story of their own in the same universe. A good example is how in that one Han Solo movie they just haaaaaaad to do the kessel run instead of thinking of anything new and interesting. It strips away the mystery from the main story without actually adding anything. Its possible to make a prequel without doing this.

    I enjoyed Furiosa and I just can’t get the absolute consensus that is Fury Road, what does FR do soooo much better than Furiosa? To me, FR is just a better action movie with a much worse villain and story.

  • @CarlosCarlangas
    @CarlosCarlangas 15 дней назад +2

    Monte is just looking too much into it. Furiosa is just a good movie. You know what monte is just a hater. I didn't like fury road but I thought furiosa was actually interesting. At this point monte should just admit he didn't like mad max that much and he doesn't care about it's lore.
