This is definitely very helpful, especially since I’ve come across this problem before as well. I will say that whoever assembled this thing in the factory back in 2000 wasn’t completely paying attention! Your editing is also very comedic, the Mutahar laugh part got me😂
hey just letting you know this actually isnt called a crown gear but is simply just a "double gear." a crown gear is actually shaped like a crown and has the teeth facing up!
altering the wiring harness helped me a ton so I can connect and disconnect him from his plaque. a JST connector kit went a long way here. I also began making 3d models of his parts so he can more easily and cost effectively be maintained. the tiny gears need a very precise printer and petg seems ok at this time? probably will need to be nylon in the future.
One thing I like to do thought is to take a photo of the circuit board and unscrew the circuit board so non of the wires pull and come off the circuit board
in my Billy Bass the very first gear (the one that is in contact with the motor) is broken. I am trying to find a replacement for it. Do you know the specifications, so I can loo it up on eBay or Aliexpress? Mine is completely disintegrated. Any leads are welcome. Thanks and bye for now!
Hey, I'm trying to replace the head motor gear and you state the they are always "10 teeth", but mine is 9. It doesn't look broken either. Is it definetly 10? also is it 1.5mm or 2mm? Thanks
Some can be made slightly different that others. Although I believe I was referring to the larger gear, with the smaller part being 10teeth. The motorshaft gear itself is 9tooth, the one that fits on the motor itself. And I use 2mm inner diameter.
@IDogFan41 ah okay. I might just replace the one that goes on the motor, but my problem is the head gets jammed. I've opened the gearbox and everything looks great but the motor gear just jams everything up

Very helpful. However heavy handed.

I’ve thought of doing this the same way and now I know it works I’m pretty happy
Great job repairing this!
Did you use wd-40 to grease the gears?
Don't use wd-40 for a lubricant. Use white lithium grease or any other grease.
Oh wait, I see he used the white lithium grease by wd-40. This is acceptable.
Yeah plain old wd40 just kinda dries out after a while lol
Smart! I actually didn’t know that the gear was separate.

I use these for the motorshaft gears. a.co/d/aTcsKX1
Hey brother, you're awesome. Any chance you'd be willing to post a link to the specific gear specs you're using? Cheers from Oregon USA 🌲💚

I just realized that we edit our repair videos the exact same way 😂
By any chance would this work with a snowflake spinning snowman's hat arm gear?
Anyone with the 3D printer want to start printing 3D printed new shelves of the big bass belly plaque cuz the plastic's so brittle
I've gotten a few fish that Have that problem
My billy bass doesn't have this problem, but his head gear is cracked.
i will just get a new Gear
