The power of this album is astonishing. Individually they each sound like they're gonna explode - together - BOOM! supernova. * Also * To me, it feels like the other side of the coin containing Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vanguard - with it's laid back sophisticated 60's Mad Men cool - bar talk/laughter and tinkling of glasses on a Sunday afternoon in NYC included. What a vibe. Cheers
I first heard this when I was 14 years old, in about 1992. I remember that I just could not believe what I was hearing. How could it be that as Pattitucci and Weckl join after Chick's Dolphin Street intro,.. how could that possibly be the product of just three men? It sounded like a factory starting up. This album will forever be a superhuman feat. It's beyond anything else ever. This will always be the pinnacle of piano trio jazz for me.
I'm sooooo jealous!!! I saw him at the concord jazz fest in 2019. Greatest ever. But this recording omg!!! I've been listening to this since my teens. R.i.p
How fantastic to have witnessed this incredible performance first hand! Can you remember what the venue was and what month it took place? That information doesn't seem to be out there anywhere. Cheers.
@@matthewbolton6015 I think (was quite a while ago) it was at Gower Street Studios. If you watch the video what you're seeing is not what most people expect. The production crew transformed the inside to look like a nightclub. I was also at a few Light Years sessions, one of which was when they did drums for the song View From the Outside. If you listen to the drum solo it was around pass number 15 or so for Weckl. If I remember correctly he was happy with the take around 2 AM.
Wow 🤯 You were actually at this concert?! That's unbelievable and amazing that you got to be a part of history. I can imagine it must have been a fantastic show to see in person
29 years later and this album still blows me away everytime I hear it. This could very well be one of the greatest trio live albums ever and it gets better with every listen. It doesn't any better than the Chick Corea Akoustic Band with John Patitucci and Dave Weckl
1991 im a 18 year old, just joined the military, kid, living in a state where i dont know a soul. My first "big" purchase was a cd player and two cds . I had no clue who either of these artists were. But their cd covers look cool. Anita Baker - Compositions and this one. I played this cd CONSTANTLY! This thing still gives me chills.
Both great. Not a bad track on Compositions. I’m 60 and thank Columbia house for enticing me to try new/different music than all the classic rock I was listening to.
@@MrGom3zone Ini album kayak kopi buat saya, nemenin belajar, apalagi waktu SMP-SMA zaman Ebta-Ebtanas, hehehe. Tuwir ya. Sampai sekarang masih nemenin buat kerja, bikin fokus.
in this case, no words are needed ... astounding masterpiece of 90´s , probably my most fave acoustic jazz cd and concert , very melodic and listenable
Absolutely correct My favorite orchestra as I may say It changed everything in the jazz world Chick brought Dave and John on board at a young age and the rest is history I been following these mentors since 1985 and there hasn’t been anything like this since The best of the best The chemistry is Like no other They were meant to be Thank you for my life of inspiration
I think the best thing among the playing on this album is how Chick plays around with those two fuckin´ heavyweights! He´s the spirit! RIP! And thx for the music!
Sometimes, when solo, Corea sounds like Master Oscar Peterson. Metronomo. Fast and precise. And other times one can't even count the tempo. Both are awesome, unbelievable !
Rien sur Dave Weckl ?!?... le batteur dont le jeu unique s' adapte au plus proche de la mélodie , et probablement le meilleur qu' ait pu avoir Chick Corea avec Gary Novak ... Le mal est réparé ....

I can't get enough of Pattitucci's entry in "How Deep Is The Ocean?", around 11:13. Superb bass playing!
There's some good blues licks in there!
I think he had been listening a lot to Gomez?
I saw the CC Akoustic Band twice. Once with Weckl and once with Erskine.
I consider myself very lucky to have seen them.
"On Green Dolphin Street" (Bronislaw Kaper, Ned Washington) - 9:14
"How Deep Is the Ocean?" (Irving Berlin) - 11:40
"Humpty Dumpty" (Chick Corea) - 8:51
"Sophisticated Lady" (Duke Ellington, Irving Mills, Mitchell Parish) - 6:59
"U.M.M.G. (Upper Manhattan Medical Group)" (Billy Strayhorn) - 5:29
"'Round Midnight" (Bernie Hanighen, Thelonious Monk, Cootie Williams) - 8:39
"Hackensack" (Thelonious Monk) - 2:41
"Morning Sprite" (Chick Corea) - 10:15
Saw this trio live in 1991 at RFH, London! This was the repertoire!
Sobre os participantes nem há palavras, a música, puro assombro, que belo trio, muito obrigado!
This is the best live concert recording album ever.
This album changed my whole approach to drumming in college. Amazing musicians playing perfect music! Thanks for sharing.
My fav is 'Eye Of The Beholder' , and what a concert that was.

This album changed my life too! It helped me ger into Jazz....
You put these three guys on a stage and nothing can go wrong.
At 13 I listened to this about 100 times then 100 time more❤️❤️❤️..... bless you for your gift Maestro RIP🙏🏼
So astonishing, it's beyond belief. WOW!!! Simply incredible. Thank you!!!
The most amazing thing about Dave Weckle play is the looseness and timing in the phrasing. That is really jaw-dropping good.
Dave is the reason I've been humming this song for 75% of my life. Great recording
I was not there and its the best live performance I've ever seen RIP CHICK❤❤❤❤❤
The absence of Corea still saddens me a lot. I owe him a lot of who I am as a professional today. R.I.P. my dear.
Grande Patitucci!
This was my fave Akoustic Band outing...
RIP Chick Corea. 😍
Thanks for the post! I lost my recording of this years ago, and it's nice to hear it again!

Thanks "Annie day" for turning me onto this album!
SUPERB...
