I lost my dad then my mom. All in the same year. I was a mommy and daddy's boy. They both died of suffering not being able to breathe. The sight I saw... Whoa yeah ha haaaa yeeeeahhh haaa haaa haaa.. I reach to the sky
My sister died 4.5 years ago... It's an indescribable pain and I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish you the most healing possible, just know you are not alone.
My dad, my high school and college friends, and my relatives. I cannot tell you how many times I listened to this in memory of my loved ones. This song has helped me process my grief so many times.
My deepest condolences... I've lost my brother and my dad. I always listen to this song on the anniversaries of their deaths... don't know why I do it to myself, but I guess it kinda helps in a way too.
Maybe in another life I could find you there Pulled away before your time I can't deal it's so unfair And it feels And it feels like Heaven's so far away And it feels Yeah it feels like The world has grown cold Now that you've gone away Leaving flowers on your grave Show that I still care But black roses and Hail Mary's Can't bring back what's taken from me I reach to the sky And call out your name And if I could trade I would And it feels And it feels like Heaven's so far away And it stings Yeah it stings now The world is so cold Now that you've gone away Gone away Gone away Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Ooh Yeah ooh-ooh Oh yeah I'll save your soul Woah, yeah, yeah I reach to the sky And call out your name Oh please let me trade I would And it feels And it feels like Heaven is so far away And it feels Yeah, it feels like The world has grown cold Now that you've gone away Gone away Gone away Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Ooh Yeah ooh-ooh Oh yeah Yeah ooh Yeah ooh-ooh Oh yeah
Agree... because the story of the music is sad and brings reflection in mind... even the piano version actually is the best of all... in my humble opinion.. you know..
Somebody recommended the acoustic version to me, Thanx , and I'm glad I responded. This tune is just raw of emotion, and it hits like a bullet hits the bone.
We are all leaving here one day and none of us know with 100% certainty if this life is it or what is going to be the next chapter of our voyage but I do pray that somehow someway we get to reunite with our loved ones again. Hopefully if their is another life we don’t spend as much time fighting with each other and live in everlasting peace. That’s what heaven must be like. What a happy reunion that day will be. We just gotta believe.
Whenever I listen to this song, this reminds me of when I lost my grandfather in 2022. Every single day, I miss you and I will always love you unconditionally, August Michael Short (May 12, 1945 - July 19, 2022). RIP Grandpa Gus.
@@MrLump lol it really was. But in his defense, he was sick at the time and his singing was much worse than usual. This was still the 90s, and his live voice was pretty damn good then. It's usually pretty good live, or if it's not you can't tell when you're there because it gets drowned out to some extent by the fans singing along, and it's overpowered by the instruments. I saw them about 5 yrs back and he sounded great live. It was just bad luck that he had a bad cold on the day of the woodstock performance. I've seen some god awful performances from him in the 2010s as well, so he has off days of course. But the woodstock one specifically was more related to his being sick.
i love this song. so powerful, emotional and endearing to how life feels sometimes. It brings back memories and gives me hope for things still to come. Not every piece of music if meant for everyone, but this one speaks to me.
It's actually the original vocal track from the album, it just sounds more present due to the acoustic background coupled with the B&S treatment. I agree it sounds great more isolated from the amplified instruments of the original version.
my ex and oldest sons mother passed from breast cancer in June 2017. we had a major break up and falling out. I didn't like her to much, but I never stopped loving her. this song made me cry for a while. still does.
Thank you so much for posting this. Excellent quality too. Bless you! Chester We will not ever forget you, nor the timeless treasures you left to comfort us in your absence. This is not one of yours, but fits how I feel about you. If only I could trade my own life to give you back to the millions of broken hearts worldwide. But if peace in your own heart is truly what you sought, I'd never request it of you. You saved many people ... we should all have peace if our work has been done. #RIPChester
My mom's boyfriend, a beloved family member, passed away yesterday. I will be doing the acoustic version of this for his Celebration of Life. Thank you
Condolence to everyone here that lost someone very close if its a member of your family or husband, wife, child, friend ... WIthout silly e-candles let's just think of them for a moment ..and keep in mind how much You can do for those who still live .. :)
Im cory who use to date a woman who went by candice nicole, i survived many icu visits, shit their might be youtube comments in heaven bro. You may have just recieved a response@Terrythetroll.
My little sister was murdered early January this year by the father of her child. She was 19, left behind her two year old son. I never knew there was an acoustic version of this song, when I stumbled upon it I’d never broken down harder. I feel your pain brother and truly hope you are doing well
Since everyone's talking about loved ones they lost, I might as well join in. My uncle died a year and a half ago on Thursday, June 21, 2018. This song will stay on my playlist.
I'm so sorry Nate. I lost my girlfriend 13 years ago, and this song took on a huge importance in my life. I had always loved the song, but then it took on another role. I have wondered if those who are losing loved ones from COVID are finding any help or comfort in this song, like I did. This was exactly what it felt like to lose her, and it helped to find that kinship and expression when I had no words of my own. It always brings me to tears, as it has just now, but I always feel better, even when the pain was so new and raw. Now I feel more love and joy with the tears, and that feeling is so worth it. I hope you have your own sources of comfort. Obviously you are not alone in your loss, but losing someone you care about (I don't know who Lorraine was to you, and it's not my business) can be such a lonely experience. For me, this song was proof solid that at least one person in the world gets it, even if he's a rock star I'll never meet. I needed to scream as well as cry when my Sydney died. I'd never heard anybody do that in a memorial song. Dexter Holland will never know me, but he's the friend who always has a hug for me when I need one. I love you Sydney. If only I'd known. But I didn't.
Very Nice. I remember receiving *FREE* Tickets on my birthday from my Uncle a few years back. It wasn't a planned birthday gift or anything nice of him or anything. As Fate would have it though, he just couldn't go that night. Worked out nice for me. Up until that point I had never seen the Offspring. T'was a Great Show. A bunch of rare Acoustic sets were performed as well, it was very cool
Rip Saba, I wish I had you longer in my life, but you were only there for 4 years. Now, I wish I could see your happiness when you saw your other grandkids. Cancer is a bitch. It’s been 10 years
Who wrote the acoustic version was it dexter or a fan? I cant find it congrats pleaee reply who wrote the 2 guitar lines this is how i want to cover it maybe add a 3rd instrument?
I hate to be the idiot that asks this, but are the vocals used here original stems from the album version, or a rerecorded cover? At times it sounds like it couldn't be Dexter, but then at other times it sounds too similar to be anyone else.
Hey Ken, complete stranger checking in. I hope you've found your own way to cope and adapt to your new life. I lost my girlfriend to suicide 13 years ago. After that, I was obsessed with how that worked out for her. For the first time ever, I was put in the psych unit - 3 times that year. My career as a research scientist and instructor crumbled. It was a full year before I could say her name out loud without crying. It took years, but I found my feet again. It was months before I could handle listening to this song again. Now it still hurts to think of losing her, but when I do think of her, I also feel love and happiness for who she was in my life. That was my experience. We're all different, and you have a right to your grief and pain for as long as you feel it, but I hope things look a little different to you now than they did a year ago. Things really do change.
You know you’ve written a masterpiece when you write a song that can bring a grown man to tears.
You damn right . It reminds me of my friends and family that has passed.
I am a strong man. I held my father when his mother passed. But I will cry here. We both did. There is no shame.
Agree.
👍
I lost my dad then my mom. All in the same year. I was a mommy and daddy's boy.
They both died of suffering not being able to breathe.
The sight I saw... Whoa yeah ha haaaa yeeeeahhh haaa haaa haaa.. I reach to the sky
My younger brother died last month, I can't tell you how many times this song has described the feelings I just couldn't. Forever will love this song.
My sister died 4.5 years ago... It's an indescribable pain and I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish you the most healing possible, just know you are not alone.
prayers for you and for Jessica. Lost my wife a ew years back. Sometimes we don't get over things, we just get through them.
So sorry for your loss. Rip your brother.
My dad, my hero, American hero, taught me how to be a man. There's so much i still need from him and he's gone. But he will live thru me.
Beautifully said. Make him proud.
Thank you for this words. May your father rest in peace ❤️ I wish you all the best . greetings from Switzerland
That's the way to do it. Your dad is standing beside you always. Throw an arm around him every now and again.
Yeah it sucks lost mine a few months ago right before my 18th birthday
This song reminds me of my son who I lost in 2018. Every single day
Saw them live on my birthday this year and they did this on piano, it will be the most special thing ever.
Maybe in another life
I could find you there
Pulled away before your time
I can't deal it's so unfair
And it feels
And it feels like
Heaven's so far away
And it feels
Yeah it feels like
The world has grown cold
Now that you've gone away
Leaving flowers on your grave
Show that I still care
But black roses and Hail Mary's
Can't bring back what's taken from me
I reach to the sky
And call out your name
And if I could trade
I would
And it feels
And it feels like
Heaven's so far away
And it stings
Yeah it stings now
The world is so cold
Now that you've gone away
Gone away
Gone away
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Ooh
Yeah ooh-ooh
Oh yeah
I'll save your soul
Woah, yeah, yeah
I reach to the sky
And call out your name
Oh please let me trade
I would
And it feels
And it feels like
Heaven is so far away
And it feels
Yeah, it feels like
The world has grown cold
Now that you've gone away
Gone away
Gone away
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Ooh
Yeah ooh-ooh
Oh yeah
Yeah ooh
Yeah ooh-ooh
Oh yeah
Acoustic fits this song so much better
Why?
You’re on drugs man. The original is complete masterpiece.
Agree... because the story of the music is sad and brings reflection in mind... even the piano version actually is the best of all... in my humble opinion.. you know..
Its who does the song .. need pain
This song cripples me emotionally.
dylan bourne
It doesn't have to be that way friend.
Does it ever
U got this
Me too... Please be strong
Not me. Ya can’t break what’s already broken.
This song brings anyone with a heart to the edge of emotional tears i would trade no questions asked

His vocals do not get enough credit, he can hit some notes
Deadfrets Not live. Woodstock 99 was yikes

This version, sounds like he is screaming from 3 rooms over..
This song really can touch our soul. Amazing.
i love this song. so powerful, emotional and endearing to how life feels sometimes. It brings back memories and gives me hope for things still to come. Not every piece of music if meant for everyone, but this one speaks to me.
This song brings out the best of the most painful emotions. Times that you hate but don’t dare forget or suppress. Artistic.
The chorus is so much more powerful than the original
It's actually the original vocal track from the album, it just sounds more present due to the acoustic background coupled with the B&S treatment. I agree it sounds great more isolated from the amplified instruments of the original version.

My favorite Offspring song!
AND IT FEELS......
SynesthesiaBoy all the feels....
I recently lost someone during this Covid bullshit and I couldn’t visit the hospital to say goodbye. Love you Lorraine, farewell until we meet again.

Lost one of my friends and was denied to see them due to covid before they passed
I'm crying 😢

This needs to be released s a single A.S.A.P!!! Great song!!!
Never heard this version before. Same style of singing that brings out the powerful feelings.
Never paid attention to this song a whole lot. My dad passed suddenly a couple years back and this song came on in my playlist and I lost it.
This song is good all around the original the acoustic and piano. Unique.
This is fantastic. Thanks for your efforts.
I saw them do this song live but with just a piano. it was nice.

Yes
This is dexter holland on vocal and noodles on guitar.
Yeah from listening to it it sounds like the vocals are from the album version to me.
I love this version. Is it on an album that I can purchase?
My mother died 2 months ago and my girl died on my floor 3 days ago. This is probably the last thing I'll ever listen to.
Ken Hartsock I’m so sorry for your loss. I know it’s hard.
Stay.
Hang in there brother

Man, I wish there was a tutorial for this version out there..

Someone should A.I. this (Acoustic) song w/ Elvis' voice.

Never noticed how much out of tune Dexter sings, even on the studio record but this song is so powerful that I absolutely don’t care.
