Red Storm Rising DCS Mission 2: Polar Glory

- Warsaw and NATO forces are now officially at war. We can anticipate Warsaw forces trying to stop US convoys from reinforcing our NATO Allies in Europe. The two dimensional convey threat consists of long-range bombers and attack submarines.
Iceland is a key part of keeping the convoys safe as we can intercept the bombers from here as well as this is where we operate our SOSUS line to listen for those attack submarines coming down into the Atlantic. We need to protect Iceland at all costs. We can expect to have our air bases and SOSUS headquarters bombed. There is also the possibility of the Soviets trying to land an airborne group following an air strike. You and the rest of the F-15s are here to stop that from happening.
You are being assigned to the Ready 5 as part of a 3 F-15C interceptor unit. Your callsign is Hunter 1-3.
Winds have changed so the active runway is now 22. Ready 5 aircraft are going to deploy from NE end of the base. After arming, taxi to join your unit at parking #43.
Start-Up and rearm for bomber intercept mission. You will want 3 external tanks plus whatever missiles you prefer.
Aerial Refueling: Texaco TACAN 11X and Freq 251
Bullseye: WP 2
Alternates: Anapa
Other Instructions: Report when Winchester missiles on F10 menu
Mission Time: 45-55 Mins
These are missions inspired by Tom Clancy’s Red Storm Rising with audio from the book as part of the missions. These are unpolished and made by a novice but should be functional and enjoyable for any Tom Clancy fan! These were created with DCS 2.8 Openbeta. Great work however the sound effects for the aircraft and the Jets drown out the story so you Miss vital parts

I play old school table top strategy games like Advanced Squad Leader, Fleet, Third Reich, Tac Air, etc etc. My pc would throw sparks if i tried to play DCS. Having your videos play in the background is perfect. Like setting the mood and motivation. Love it man. You keep making them, ill keep watching them.
Wow...(bought Tac Air at Campaign Headquaters Hobbie Shop, Damn Neck VA.) I played TAC AIR back in the late 80's on, USS Nassau LHA 4...left the game with the Ships Library when I moved on in April 91.

I know Jets are loud , but at least let the narrators voice be a little above the Jets engine noise so I can understand what he's saying. Thanks Guys.

I started this by making playable missions (with the audio as part of the background of the mission) and sharing them on the DCS forum. The first number of videos where supposed to be a walk through to help people fly the mission however most people are more interested in the audio book with the cinematic so I modified the mission a bit to meet this request.
Also check out FIXEDIT or @BobChanel for some great cinematic videos of Red Storm Rising. I hope that between our two channels you can get your fill of my favorite book!

Hello, yes, I am NOT a gamer, but I am a RABID Clancy fan, and I SERIOUSLY enjoy the audio book narration WITH the sim, AS LONG AS THE SIM DOES NOT DROWN OUT THE NARRATION! 😁
Thank you for listening to my suggestion, a lot of creators these days DON'T, and that really gets under my skin and usually results in me going somewhere else rather quickly, but just the inverse when the creator is someone who listens, he/she might not take the suggestions but at they listen. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I am creating missions for people to use in Flight Simulator "DCS" and focusing on doing RSR chapters that relate to flying mostly. In other words, some stuff is going to be missed but I will post link to another guy who is doing more then I am (i.e. may be more complete).

Why we stuck in the cockpit of an F/A 18 while 2 F 15c.s are strafing Soviet Transport? Im at 30:39, and Im not sure what Im watching. The F/A 18 had a hostile Submarine NTDS symbol on its left CRT??? IS this supposed to be Operation Polar Glory from Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising? I read that book back in '86 in HS. less than a year before I went to US Navy Bootcamp. Ive read is a couple more times since...I dont remember there being an F/A 18 squadron involved in that air battle...

Great question! The short answer is that I built the missions in Digital Combat Simulator to be playable by anyone who owned the F/A-18 module (which is one of the most popular modules). I post the mission files to the public so they can play them in DCS.
When someone is flying the mission they hear relevant parts of the audio book. I started posting rough versions of the missions on youtube to help people who were struggling with certain parts of the mission (i.e. how to conduct a HARM attack) so they could copy my actions from the video to be able to complete that mission within the proper parameters.
Recently my video views have blown up with most people watching the youtube missions as part of a more cinematic audiobook. That has been very exciting even if that is not what I started out doing this for. FIXEDIT @BobChanel has been doing a way better job of bringing Red Storm Rising to life in a Cinematic manner but I am glad people are enjoying my videos as well!

I don’t know if you’re connected with “FixedIt”, but the sound effects from the flight sim are annoying as all get out. I won’t be watching these uploads any more.

The aircraft sounds are just overriding the audio. Absolutely horrible and unpleasant.
