    Back in '99, I had a still relatively new Yamaha SU700 that I recorded an album with, but then I had the idea I should switch to software, so I sold my hardware and bought a desktop PC. (In retrospect, I wish I'd kept the SU700, but I thought the future was in DAWs, which in itself I can't regret getting into.) I had cracked copies of three Sonic Foundry apps: Sound Forge, Vegas and Acid. For a while there, these were my go-to music-making tools. Acid in particular was just right for looping.
    Then Reason came out, and I 'acquired' a cracked copy of it. I thought that was "it" and stopped using Acid, but kept using Sound Forge for mixdown and mastering. After a bit, I realized Reason had a lot of drawbacks, but Ableton arrived and that's been my go-to ever since. And I have hardware again.

I liked the valve tube display... but the unit itself was REALLY ballsy.. not exactly an A5000 but it didnt have to be... it was going up the SP units from Roland and Yamaha had only just come out with the RM1x and the two lil SU200, AN and DX units, which are phenomenal and have recently been massacred to salvage the PLG boards to toss into the old Yamaha units which could house them... shame really... These days, these units are going for a furtune... i dno if the trend of lowfi or dawless, but i too am kicking myself for selling alot of my HW thinking that its redundant coz of all the SW.. i sold my 2 tb303's which i bought from a garage sale from an old lady who had no idea what theywere.. still boxed as new.. she bought them for her sons... I got them for $60 for the two... I sold them for $6000 (one for 2500 and the other for 3500 when Rebirth came out...

    I love Acid Pro and it''s still my primary DAW after more than 20 years of production. But there needs to be an official Mac version of this software if it's ever going to get the respect and following it deserves. The most successful DAWs with any kind of longevity have to be available cross platform. Maschine and Ableton understood this. Even FL Studio understands this. And yet, Acid Pro is still PC only since its inception. That has to change!

    Yo I started on Acid, but also I brought to a nice summer camp - we had Acid Music ($30) on each laptop, I'd pre-cut samples acid-ized from recent modern music each year, to make it far better than just using Sony's Acid loop libraries. It was 10-15 year old campers and man I had over 500 of them, they all were able to use Acid after my one minute explanation, it was so intuitive to them. Acid 7 wasnt a real DAW, but there are many wonderful things about Acid. But did you know that Apple hired some of the Acid pioneers to make Garageband (so that it has the same technology as Acid-loops, just with different names. So it succeeded in that way ... but thx for mentioning how much it crashed. I was a hardcore Acid user until I went Mac in 2012.

    Acid was my first DAW, I was on it when Sonic Foundry released it. I would upload my ASR-X .aif into Sound Forge to convert into .wav and get the sample rate right for Acid. Lol.
    ASR-X, ACID, SOUND FORGE and SYNAPSE ORION for vst action, was my first set-up. Ableton pretty much replaced Acid and Orion, but I still us them from time to time.

    I bought Acid pro 2.0 and fucking loved it. It seemed to me though you forgot the Reason thang...Seems like people went to Reason or they went to Ableton. I stayed with Acid cuz I just wasn't serious, I knew Ableton would be handle the latency thang one day(for me it was version 9 that didn't make me want to throw the monitor). In between those years, I was an adamant hardware or die cat, Acid was my version of solitaire, it's how I wasted time at work. Then Ableton worked and I gave it a shot, but relapsed, currently back to hardware of die(shrug).

      Same here bro!..Every time I try another DAW I end up going back to Acid pro..I edit the audio for my videos on Acid pro..My only issue is sometimes it crashes..And if it had a dedicated drum sequencer like redrum or kinda like what FL studio has where it has a good layout just for the sequencer functions.. I would be happy..I know how to use the sequencer of the DAW to make beats.. But its just annoying always going to the top menu to change the grid..But its a great DAW real easy to use.

    Sidenote: Danger Mouse was a genius for that but then Kev Brown....the Brown Album. Omg

I’ve been using this since Sonic Foundry and then Sony, then Magix just leave it in the dirty and create unlimited UPDATES without really making any changes and then the older one ends up not working! I’m also using MAC so I have to purchase Parallel as I’m a MAC user and I wish they created one for Mac. Yup to this day I am using paranoid SAVES brother! fantastic video and passion for this software!! but your opinion on midi is way off. I write all my music in midi and never have problems. I run hundreds of vst instruments and fx only 1 in a hundred times it crashes which is no more common than other daws. would be nice if could snap or quantize beats to grid lines but obviously, Cubase have a patent on that, which is why I use both. acid is best for audio, arrangement, editing. but seriously dude there is no problem recording midi with acid pro. I am so confident i would even do a live stream start to finish writing a tune and I would have no crashes! have recorded many sessions! also, 32bit actually makes no difference! apart from this, great video!

    • @DyReckProductions
      @DyReckProductions  2 года назад

      Oh ok..Which version are you using..Acid has quantize and snap to grid..Ive had problems from version 7 and up with midi..It got alot better on 8 and 10 but still freezes every now and then.

      @@DyReckProductions I use sony's final retail release version 7d, before the almost decade of no releases (which is because it was the most solid release out there! no need to upgrade or change it) 6 was a buggy money grab as no different from 5 apart from full of bugs..and 7 is perfect! yes it does have a quantize and even has scale and chord help which cubase has only just added in version 11 lol.. and dubplicating midi tracks has only just been added to fl studio in verison 20 lol.. and although i have no problems with acid pro and use it for 90% of stuff I make still some things I prefer to use cubase for. like being able to route a synth into another one. and it has better snap to grid controls and chord tools in the latest release. so for chordz plugins such as cthulu cubase is actually better but for literally everything else, acid pro has always been on top for decades! and I have a theory all the other daws joined forces on marketing campaigns to push acid out as hardly any mentions of it anywhere! my youtube series will show why sony creative software such as acid pro is the best daw.

    • @DyReckProductions
      @DyReckProductions  2 года назад

      @@djcaseuk Good point. You might be right about them trying to push it out..It seemed like after 2014 whenever they mentioned good daws they would never mention Acid pro..I use to think do these folks know how easy Acids workflow is..And other daws just kept taking things from Acid.
