I spy our “not all who wander” sticker! Honored to be up there. I’m actually looking on a mounting solution for our roof rack/awning situation when and came across your vid. 🍻
I just mounted mine the same way, except on Inno Square bars and used 5/16 hex bolts (2.5" long) with lock washers and nuts. I recommend getting your brackets first and going down to a hardware store to pick the bolts out in person. I also inserted a piece of hard wood inside the hollow crossbar and drilled holes in it so the bolts could pass through it. That way when you tighten down your bolts it does not pinch the crossbars, also gives me more confidence it won't snap off with the weight of the awning 😂
Every time I have tried to bolt through an AL tube I ended up with loose bolts because it shakes and crushes the tube over time. I would suggest you put a hard plastic or wood plug inside the tube to give it better structural strength.
Hey Brian, your truck camper setup has inspired my wife and I to equip our Tundra. However, we are on a tight budget and we still need to purchase a topper for the bed. In your opinion, would it be sturdy to drill into the fiberglass topper and directly mount the ARB awning onto the topper using those universal brackets? Would there be enough clearance to operate the awning? Thanks for sharing your videos and for your insight.
Very informative. This is the final thing I needed to decide on buying the ARB Awning. Love how you continue talking at the end about the ARB as you casually walk up to a stunning landscape. Where was this video taken?
Great video Brian... I have a question... Where did you get the rack thats on the cab of your truck? I have a 2014 F250 Super Duty Lariat, Crew Cab. I have a LEER 122 camper shell on the truck, and when I ordered it, I had the cargo rack installed, and it sets up kind of high in the back. I have come up wit an idea of hot to mount the awning so it sets a bit lower. So if I get an addinall rack, that will help me out a lot. My set up would then be kind of like yours. I dont carry luggage in the rack on top of the camper, but i do have two renogy 100watt mono panels up there....
Hello PDX.Trailerguy - yeah, I ended up going to the hardware store and picket up a few more to make sure this was fully secured. I've been using this awning for a few years and it's still going strong! ARB makes sure great products. Have a great Sunday! ~ Brian
Thanks for the video! All your videos are very informative and helpful. It seems like you're living out of your truck, are you on the road/camping 100% of the time?
hey Brian, can you tell me what you used to mount your Yakima bars to the cap? my Tacoma looks like it has the same rail system as the cap on yours. my long term plan is a similar setup to what you have. also does your roadshower also extend forward and mount to the bar you have on the truck or is it short enough to just mount on the cap?
Good job addressing a question people often have about mounting all these awning to all these different racks.
OH! That is our next purchase and we weren't sure how to attach it. So helpful-- thanks!
Shade and protection from rain is darn handy. Nice set up.

Could the aluminum extrusion be shortened to two 12" pieces that attach to the brackets? Might save some weight?
Hey Brian. Spent a lot of the weekend checking out your truck camping vids... very cool. Happy to be your 3000th sub!
What size bolts did you use to attach your awning. Did get the hardware to do it. Still waiting for the parts to get here
Did you ever hav any long term issues with flexing?
Did you end up adding washers to the mounts?
What size screws go into the awning track?
What size bolts did you use for the awning and the brackets.

Did you get extra T-bolts with the brackets? ARB I believe only gives you two per side for a total of four.

Holy granola stickers! That truck just screams “ l am a Colorado transplant” 😭Nice video though.
at least yours came with brackets...
Actually, it didn't...I had to purchase the brackets independently.
Can anybody just come up with a ranch and steal it?
Hahaha. Sounds like shit I would do.
