Cumbrian Farming 2024. Classic MF 390T and MF 23 cultivator breaking up the soil.

New Massey last week, classic Massey this week! Breaking up the clods after the plough has done its job is a very tidy 30-year-old MF 390T with an even older MF 23 10-time pigtail cultivatior. Although these types of implements are less commonly seen working in the fields now, it was making a really good job of preparing the soil ahead of the drill as well as blowing the cobwebs off the 390T that had been parked up after last being used the previous summer. A threatening but mostly blue sky but it did stay dry!

Well David you have me having to eat my own words from the last video when I said, " I do feel that MF have came a long way in improving the aesthetics of their range, after a few years of being a bit old fashioned and very square in design" and you give us a fantastic classic square Massey that looks absolutely fantastic. (I never could keep my mouth shut, so my mother kept telling me 😂). Not only does that MF390T look outstanding, it sounds great, pulls very well and runs as clean as a whistle and I take my hat of to the owner for looking after her as she should be. Looks a great day weather wise too and the old MF23 cultivator was making a great job. Its so uplifting to see spring work finally getting going. Thanks as always David. Cheers Fraser.

Morning Fraser (yes it’s early, I’m up for work) They certainly have changed over the last 30 years, I suppose it’s like fashion design (which unlike tractors I have not a clue about!) and back then in the early 90s this was almost cutting edge! It’s a lovely 390T, plenty of power with not a hint of smoke, manoeuvrable and as you say very well looked after and a credit to the owner. Yes old MF 23 making an excellent job of breaking up the soil and it was a lovely day out. It’s great having some nice weather, hopefully I’ll get out with the camera this weekend… I’ll keep you guessing on next weeks video, it isn’t a Massey but instead another (late) 90s classic and a beauty at that, I’ll leave you pondering over that one!
