WARNING: releasing the ~15 "hooks" holding the bottom lid in place after loosening the screws is WAY harder than what is shown in the video. Those "hooks" are part of the main chassis and their "tips" point outwards. After breaking a lot of them, I think the correct procedure is to use the plastic tool to carefully bend the border of the lid outwards (like a small bump) to allow for a soft release.
Also, there are two big "hooks" that are part of the lid itself, very close to the center and pointing to the front-border (touchpad, bottom in the video); these require a very careful maneuver to release; I managed to do that after releasing all borders by gently bending the lid on the line from front-border (touchpad, bottom in the video) to back-border (hot air exhaust, top in the video), then a short, careful, push in the direction of the back-border.
The good news is the screws + a couple border hooks + the 2 center hooks are able to hold the lid in place; but that means the screws will now do most of the job, so handle them with care.
Finally: I'm very disappointed by Lenovo for making this chassis much harder to open than older ThinkPads. This will factor negatively on them for future purchases from me. Given upgradeability/repairability is important for me, I'm seriously considering getting a laptop from Framework.

Thanks for mentioning this, the last thinkpad I owned was a T410 so I would've been in for a surprise!

I can confirm this, somehow. It seems to be right in the middle and I was going crazy because I thought I missed a screw. I could bend all edges fine but it was still not opening. With more force it finally opened. Yes, that is not really nice and should be changed and yes, the video is not showing how hard it was for me.

Update: I just managed to open a new E14 Gen3, while breaking only 3 "hooks" in the process; I tried my idea of using the tool to bend the border of the lid outwards. I suggest doing it slowly to notice where the lid doesn't easily bent up (away from the chassis) and make sure to make the proper outwards bend so it detaches softly (but don't push the tool too hard against the place where the lid is held by the hooks).
Also, the border of the lid running alongside the display hinge (top in the video) is different than the other borders: the "hooks" are on the lid and they point *inwards* (down direction, if looking at the video). I broke 2 of these initially, but then realized that using the plastic tool only to gently bend the lid upwards, then insert a knitting needle (CAREFUL! RISK OF SHORT!!!) and use the knitting needle hook to bend the border of the *chassis* outwards should work; and it worked, as the other hooks were released very softly.

Tip: slipping a credit card in the gap between the two panels will also work.

no heatsink for the additional SSD? how will this compute handle a high temperature nvme SSD like the Samsung 970 Evo Plus?

@@bbaker6212 The slot does not allow for that, only 16gb. It does support 3200 mhz ram though.

Kind of feel like I wasted my time as literally no upgrade options or specs were really covered. Unfortunately a thumbs down for misleading title.

Well ... I would also expect a little bit more information, like what is the largest RAM module size, what specs (it's DDR4, 32GB (officially 16GB)), what is the Wlan card build in and can i just replace it if needed. Nevertheless I got from the video what I needed.
