I have a Corley edger from 1956 and it has a 1" shaft machined to a point bolted (about 2-1/2" long) on the extreme corner of the edger and when taking the flitch off of the conveyor belt It really saves time and effort. It serves as a teeter totter fulcrum. I believe it is an original not an after thought. My Dad raised the edger up a lot so you aren't bending over all day and this pointed shaft really gets appreciated then. Mom would get so mad when a customer (on a custom sawing job) tried to help and complicate everything and make the work so much harder.
I am commenting on this thinking you might contemplate the concept because your videos show a need to simplify getting the board from the saw to the edger..(Material Handling).
I appreciate how informative your videos are and applaud Cooks Sawmills for this Ingenuous marketing tactic...

Your mandrel assembly is a great start for a vertical edger.. I would wager that "YA'all" have it on your drafting table....

I would prefer this type because of less waste. You could put a spring loaded power roller that has a rubber roller on the entrance and exit to help keep the board straight.

There are weighted roller hold downs on the incoming and outgoing sides of the edger. A little hard to notice from the video.

I wonder what kind of laser you use.
I also would have concern about laser exposure to my eyes, possibly from unexpected reflection. What precautions should the operator take?

How much $$$ without the steel rolls and supporting frame work on thr back?? I,de want a tailer convoyor on it so no rollers needed.

The human eye is much more sensitive to green light than to red light. For maximum visibility in bright light, I'd suggest using a green laser rather than a red one.

Hi John. When a customer orders they have the option of either red or green.
