If you had started from the middle, it would have been easier to flow the pattern but because you started from the corner, it provided no option to flow. If you had placed 12 to 16 tiles randomly in the middle, the pattern would have jumped out at you. Working from the middle out will give you the flow of pattern but you’ll end up cutting some tiles to fit by the walls or to maintain the flow. On your second arrangement the pattern started coming out but it couldn’t go far because it was by the wall and you rearranged it a third and fourth time to lose it
