    This is one of my favourite valleys in the lakes. These is a campsite near the start point if you are staying over after taking advantage of the Old Dungeon Ghyll, I hope you enjoy it😃. More info in the description. Thanks for watching ⛰👍🙏

    Been a very wet start to the year. Still great to get out into the fresh air and clean out the soul. Best wishes on the next adventure.

    Very good watch and I was on Allen Crags last month and Great End and Esk Pike on Friday and hoping to do Rosset Pike and Bowfell from the Old Dungeon Ghyll tomorrow to complete all the fells around there. I hope I get the same weather as you (without the snow) and not as long a walk as you did either. Well deserved pub stop at the end, cheers Alan

      Hi Alan, there are some great routes around there. Rosset Pike is quite the climb but a great view. Bowfell is a big hitter and the walk off to the band is a little scetchy. I hope the weather holds for you ☀️. All the best out there mate 🥾😁⛰️

    Hi Tony and Allison. Super video Tony the views on that walk especially from Bow Fell are some of the best in the Lakes, on a good day of course! Me and my other did the same route about 12 years ago when relatively novices on the fells. I was so chuffed with myself for plotting such a good route and still one of my favourite walks to date. The one hiccup was that I didnt realise until after we'd finished that Allen Crags was in easy reach and I still havent done it 😕Look like you had a fabulous day for it too. Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year 🥂

      Hi Tony, thanks mate 😁. It is a great route and I’m glad you got to do it. I’ll be there again soon when the weather allows. If you still haven’t been up Glaramara, Allen Crags can be picked up on that circular. It’s been on my to do list for a while but I’m just waiting for a high cloud day. All the best for Christmas and New Year ⛰️😁🥾

      I’m glad you got to see some of it. A great excuse for a revisit 😁. If you look on www.mountain-forecast.com/ you can find the cloud base height ⛰️. Enjoy it Louise 👍⛰️☀️

    Brilliant video and hike. Perfect conditions and visibility and spectacular views everywhere. Why do I always get the most and rain?!! Our favourite place in the Lakes, and videos like this make us want to go back. Regards, Ashley

      Hey Ashley, many thanks! It is fantastic if you can hit the weather window. It is one of The Lakes jems for sure. I've booked in for the camp site in summer so will have to take my chances so fingers crossed for sunny days ahead for us both!

    Great video. I am looking to walk these 4 Wainwrights this Saturday and it has given me a great insight into what to expect. The Alltrails map has the route the other eay round, with Bowfell first. What is your opinion on this?

    • @trekkingwithtony
      @trekkingwithtony  7 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks mate 👍. I do it this way around as the band is an easy down and Allison’s knees prefer that. I also like to walk the valley first to warm up and anticipate the climb and work my way up to Bowfell rather than do the biggest first. Both ways are good though.
      If I was going to do Bowfell first it would be to do the climbers traverse. Otherwise I’d do it as in the video. I’m glad it was useful to you, let me know how you got on. Enjoy it out there mate ⛰️😁🥾

      @@trekkingwithtony thanks for the reply and advice. Think I might wake up Saturday and see how I feel after a night in the tent, first one of the year.
