    Could you use this rig for bluegill as well.

    • @unclebillscrappieattitude3403
      @unclebillscrappieattitude3403  2 года назад

      You can, smaller hook and lighter weight. Especially if you are bank fishing around structure. The technique would be the same. Thanks for watching, take care

    That's NOT a drop shot rig...that's a dropper rig. A true drop shot rig does NOT use any form of leader or dropper for the uook. The hook is tied directly to the line. This dropper rig has been around for many decades, exactly as shown here. A drop shot rig is a JDM rig which is relatively new to the United States (within the past 20 years). Not knocking the video, just correcting the name of the rig...names of rigs become as colloquial as the names for species of fish. For example crappie are often called "white perch"...there's an actual white perch and crappie which are different species. They do share some visual characteristics. This dropper rig has been used for crappie, catfish and even redfish. But, if someone asks you about a "drop shot" rig, don't show them this...unless you want them to be confused down the line when someone shows them an actual drop shot rig. Again, it's a usable rig...but it's not a drop shot.

      Cerebral Tackle, thank you for the clarification. I agree you say and show what you are taught. I know what you are talking about with the hook tied directly with no leader. With that said, we like this rig as it gives the minnow a little room to swim around. We always welcome comments that help educate others that want to start a fishing journey. Thanks for commenting and watching.

      It is most commonly called a "three way rig"

      Literally one minute into the video Uncle Bill says that he altered the setup because of the way Miss T fishes. Look up the definition of drop shot rig. A line tied to a hook with a trailing leader that comes to an end with a weight so that the weight is at the bottom and the hook and bait are above it. Their addition of the three-way piece is literally for saving hook and weight for all the times Ms T gets caught up in brush, which was stated in the video. 🤷

      Thanks Mr. Jackson for watching and commenting. Again our goal is to help folks that do not fish as often as we do.
