Awesome! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for - right down to the dark effect (which in my case is going to be a blur so the magnifying glass will let you "see" clearly). Thank you so much! (plus, I hope this vid gets more views cause it's very informative)
I watched this about a year ago out of cureosity but forgot how to make it - I was testing out stuff for about an hour, but I couldn't get my head around it - thanks again for reminding me how to do it! 😂
Thank you! This is my first thing in Fusion and it worked perfectly. P.S. I have selected wrong Transform node at first and it didn't have Pivot settings, I nearly gave up thinking it has changed in Resolve 17, but then I realized it's my mistake.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I know a bit.. but have lots more to learn. That's kind of what i have been doing. Digging into DVR and making videos as i learn. Thanks for watching!
I remember leaving a comment here about sharpening inside the magnifying glass. Now that I have lost all the customized fusion settings I have made (because my iMac HDD has gone kaput, I had to replace it with the new one), I have to figure it out again
It blows my mind that this software has been around since 2004 and I completely and utterly had no clue it even existed till about a year ago... and I spend a LOT of time on the computer, with a wide range of productivity software.
Tuto very interesting. It's a pity I didn't see before because I would have used it probably to zoom on details like birds for example. Now I know it !
I keep coming back to this effect in my videos, it's one of the most valuable tutorials I've learned. I often combine with an X-Ray looking invert effect and overlay graphics under it. I am having one problem though.... How on Earth do you add a perturb or camera shake to it's movement? Doesn't seem to allow this with masks.
How can I save this as a macro, when there are two media in nodes? I can only save by selecting everything except the 2 media in nodes (and saving a macro), but then the magnifier image is missing.
This is great, thanks. Neat spline work. I really like the darken effect on the map. Not sure if it's better but I guess I'd Publish/Connect the centre of the ellipse with other tools rather than Expression link but same, same really. I'm also going to try some glass effect - glow, fast noise reflection perhaps. Looking forward to more!
Publish connect should work and do the same thing. Usually use the expression method because i can see which that the properties are connected. With publish/connect, I don't see a visual indication that the prop has been connected to something else. Cannot tell which have been set and which have not. Is there a way to tell?
Thank you, I am using rectangle to tranform and then connect ot to drop shadow but I cannot get that effect. It might be because I am not using a png. picture of a magnifier so there is no object to drop shadow off of but how can I create that drop shadow effect? I could use a window but then I have to match it with my zoom in effects every single time, is there a better way?
can it be used with a tracker so the magnifying glass is always showing a moving object (but the magnifying glass is staying in one place, a corner for example?
Thank you for this, I am still having trouble though with the new fusion composition slowing the clip down, and not playing at normal speed. I can't find any solutions, and wonder if you can help me with that. Thank you!
Something else I want to add, is that I'm editing a 16:9 video, set it to 1920 x 1080, and the overlay transformed video is what is running at half time. I've played around with the frame rate with no luck. Even set the master settings to 1080 x 1920 to see if it'll work with that then crop in post, but still no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated!
hello William thanks for tour video. When i make de animation with the key frames, the green line do not appear on the screan and so i canot select de point to spline
Above the viewer you should see a tool bar with some options. Those change the drawing mode. If you click on the one to add a point (think it is the first icon) you should be able to create your path) Also when selecting your node make sure you have the "show view controls" checked.
Absolutely amazing . To be honest I just stumbled across your video , and felt impressive & informative. Thanks for same . I do use Da Vinci for personal projects and got basic knowledge around editing - but cracking the puzzle of using the fusion nodes was always mystery to me - your video really explained lot of them . It would be really great if you could make some kind off playlist specific to understand each nodes/ set of tools , how to use them detailed - that would really help for beginners like me - never mind if the ask is too much - Keep doing these amazing videos
Hi, Thanks so much for the feedback. Really glad to hear that you are enjoying my videos. I may look at going into more node specific detail in future videos.
William, Great videos!! This is fairly similar to what I'm trying to figure out how to do. I'm just a dad making athletic highlight reels for my son to present to college coaches. I was wondering if you know a great way to create a circle or a way to highlight a player? Perhaps even a way to pause the video for 1-2 seconds, wrap a circle around a player, then continue the video? Or have a circle track a player in motion for 1-2 seconds? I'd welcome any help or direction towards some help if you have time. Thx! Looking forward to more of your content.
Hi Thanks for the message. There are probably lots of ways to do what you are wanting. If know a bit about fusion, you could create a circle in fusion and move it around, but it would be much easier and straight forward to do it from the timeline. 1. you can use the timeline re-time tools to freeze frame and pause the video. (select clip, right click, choose retime controls, put playhead where you want to pause, click on the 100% speed and choose freeze frame) Next get a .PNG image of a circle and move it into the timeline (just make sure it is transparent in the middle). You can then move to highlight your son. Should be easy. Hope that helps. What sport does your son play?
Eclipse to background. Black. Alpha 50 percent then merge. Magnify glass to transform merge. Link them center point same result. But you can nest eclipses and use subtract in eclipse to call 3 items to cut into the alpha channel too. My latest videos showing my rig with part numbers show eclipses zoom in background layer alpha and outline the eclipses with thin line. Title is can g30 xa20 xa25 rig with part numbers. Done in davanci resolve studio 16 fusion.
Its pretty easy to do... If you look at the video 2:45 where i add the circle mask... to change the shape... instead of adding the circle mask, add one the other shapes, rectangle or you can use the polygon too to draw any shape that you want.
Sadly none of the show navigation ways translate to the newest version auf Resolve 17 it seems. It starts with Davinci not being cool with creating a new composition outside of the Media tab. So creating within the media window on the edit tab doesn't work. Ctrl+Space is also not working with in the Fusion tab and so on. An updated tutorial for Resolve 17 would be nice.
@@WilliamJusticeMedia Yes i do still have troubles trying to get a the magnifing effect working. I am a streamer. So my footage is several hours long. What I want to achieve is creating clips which use the magnifying effect just every now and then to pop out the ingame chat for example. But following your methode I am unable to limit the magglas to a certain time in the video, even if I set cuts.
Learned a lot from this. Damn Fusion is hard to learn as a beginner. Makes After Effects look like childs play. Thanks Dude!
Bravo
what a nice tutorial............
thanks
Thanks Will. I wouldn't be able to do that without you
great tutorial and many example for the effects applied. I am learning from yr videos of the channel , thanks William.
