      In Sweden we are generally encouraged to be modest - it is considered kinda rude to brag about your successes in something, and you are instead expected to simply thank people for their compliments. Of course, there do exist attention-seeking Swedish people as well, but that attitude is generally considered a bit inappropriate over here.

      I did keto 15 years ago and lost 35 pounds in 3 months. I started eating somewhat normally again since my husband never ate what I did and I had to do his meals as a meat and 3 with bread. Slowly gained it back but now he has decided to go all organic, clean eating and following Dr. Ekberg, losing 40pounds since July and I have joined him only losing 18 pounds in 2 months. I know now it is a lifestyle plan and it has not been hard because I never ate before 2pm anyway. So at 68 and 182 pounds with an artificial hip and a bad back, it makes sense that less weight is better. Luck to us all as we tackle life and eating for our health.

      @@billyperry7779 Not only that but I found that many doctors don't want to know about any of these things. I was seeing a dietician and she was more receptive to what I was saying about OMAD even though she could not really advise me to stay on it...however I told her not to try to sell me on that food pyramid which is killing people and has been for a very long time. My doctor sent me to the dietician, however I am doing my own thing and losing weight. I have been to dieticians before I knew about Keto/IT fasting and lost nothing eating the food she recommended. Doctors with their medications will kill you if you have no clue about those medication and what the side effect can do to your body. So I agree with you they are completely nutritionally uneducated that is why they send you to dieticians in the first place. God helps those who help them selves and getting educated about health issues and nutrition is the way to go....that's why I love these videos of Dr Ekberg we are truly lucky to have people like him who give a damn about humanity and what is happening to people out there. I drink one of these every day as my lunch and am full most of the day until dinner - if I need a snack in between, I eat a handful of nuts, like walnuts or pecans, and some cheese. A good substitute for worsteshire sauce is home-made “ketchup” from the old days. Take a bowl full of diced mushrooms and add a generous amount of salt and let it sit. The mushrooms will release their juices. Strain through cheesecloth and bottle it. Very tasty!

      English walnuts have four times as much omega-6 as omega-3 (considered by some as acceptible), while black walnuts have sixteen times as much, but a lower total of both; one school of thought considers the total amount of omega-6 more of a problem than the ratio. Chia seeds come with potential problems, not the least of which being that they can swell to the point of causing a blockage. The best seeds, which are rarely mentioned, would seem to be Sacha Inchi, which have 37% omega-3, and 11% omega-9, 9g of protein per serving, and 5g of carbs (all fiber).

Its similar to avocado as it's a fruit that is also high in fat. It also isnt sweet. I realise alot of persons outside of Jamaica isnt familiar with it. Matter of fact we are the only nation that actually eat it as a main part of our cuisine since people are scared about its preparation. It's only poisonous if you dont let it open on it's own.

    • @feigasheina-punim1784
      @feigasheina-punim1784 5 лет назад +19

      Excellent point. In the UK and EU, fibre is actually shown separately so you don’t deduct it (or anything!) from the Carbohydrate total. So, for an example, if a label says:
      Carbohydrates - 5g
      Of which sugars - 2g
      Fibre - 1g
      Then you’d count a total of 5g carbohydrates for this food.

    • @drekberg
      @drekberg  4 года назад +14

      Thank you Frogmella Slob for clarifying that. In the US, we have a carbohydrate total and then a breakdown of each component.

    For anyone else who might be confused about these numbers, as I was before doing some rewinding and re-listening-these numbers are percentages, in other words, the number is referring to # of grams of carbohydrate per 100 grams of the food. (Example: Avocados have 2 grams carbohydrate per 100 grams of avocado).

    I know that I am super late to this video, but for those, like me, whose body gets used to things quick, but you deal with terrible withdrawal symptoms, please stay away from caffeine. Caffeine has been a big part of my weight gain, which I started really about 15 years ago. I enjoyed a nice cup of tea, but headaches shortly started to begin, which increased my frequency of consumption to a point where I would be drinking tea literally all day. I no longer got the energy burst from consumption, but I know it negatively affected my REM cycles, which kept me feeling tired and terrible in the morning with another headache. To reduce the staining of tea, I would also add some milk, which is also full of lactose(another monosaccharide). After all these years, I have finally quit tea for almost a week and still have headaches, but not the pounding ones like several days ago. I also seriously reduced sugars, which have left me feeling extremely hung for about 3 days and I don't even drink. I still don't feel great, but I think this is the step into the right direction. It appears that many of us, get into that hole, where we don't look good, are unhealthy and don't feel good, but we don't notice it that much, for it becomes the norm. I don't expect to become a ripped 30 year old again, but I hope to be a healthier, middle aged individual. Cheers!

    It would be awesome if there was a network or channel that only had dietary and medical advice by respected medical professionals. Then people could have a trusted site for information that could cover separate subjects.

    If you decide to write a reference book, I will buy the first copy! And a few extra to give as gifts.
    You explain all of your video topics so precisely and in a manner that is so easy to understand. Love watching them!
    Much appreciated!
