  • From Paul's Report:
    I had a wonderful time fishing with Captain Josh from Outermost Angling Charters, Ajichi san - Carpenter field tester, Konishi-san the man himself, Carpenter Shocho (President) and the ever charming Hiromi-san!
    The bad weather only allowed us to fish 2 days and with all odds against us...we made it happen on both days!
    Conditions were poor so we decided to go away from the usual crowd and it was a good call, we were the only ones in the area with the sun just starting to creep out from the horizon.
    We could see half beaks breaking the surface from a distance then came the birds hovering and diving on the half beaks and then come the big and mighty Blue fin tunas crushing them from below, a joint pincer attack strategy nicely orchestrated by mother nature! Classic Nat Geo moments!
    Cast! Cast! Seto! Seto! "set the hook in Japanese fishing language :)" and it was game on....
    This trip was like every other trip, a brand new experience! Lots of prototype rods and lures and i mean LOTS!
    Different action, bend, style, class rods.
    Cut, shaved, planed, modified Gammas, Bluefish, Maihime's, KLLs and many others.
    I will leave it for you guys to wonder ponder what I've seen :)
    Enjoy the photos!
    Tight lines!
    Paul

    Can anyone tell me where Carpenter rods are made? I'm looking at the GT Monster Hunter (MH 79XH Extreme) for GT fishing. Does anyone know how it compares with the Ripple Fisher 711 Ocean Ridge PE 10 and the Zenaq Tobizo 200G?

    • @bennbo
      @bennbo 5 лет назад

      made in japan obviously... ripples are nicer

    • @DanEvan
      @DanEvan 5 лет назад +1

      The MH 79XH extreme is almost in another class than the 711 and Tobizo 80-200g (those rods compare well to each other) and is bordering on being a PE10-12 rod. Unless you’re targeting the Omani/New Caledonia world class level GT, have experience with a stick this heavy, and have the physical stature and ability to get the most out of the rod, I’d go with one of the other 2. They’re both more than capable GT rods and unlike the 79XH can work a stickbait to a certain degree.

      The brand Carpenter is the bench mark when it comes top water popping and stickbaiting,Ripple are very good and my second favourite, I have a collection of both brands but these days I use Carpenter .
