- Welcome to our channel! Today, we’re taking you on an underwater adventure like no other. Subic Bay, nestled just 120 kilometres northwest of Metro Manila, is a diver’s paradise. But what makes it truly special? The wrecks-historical remnants of wars and maritime history-await us beneath the waves.
🔍 Discover the Wrecks: Subic Bay boasts over 20 wrecks, each with its own story. From the WWI-era USS New York (ACR-2) to a Vietnam-era F4 Phantom, these sunken vessels hold secrets waiting to be explored. And guess what? Most of them lie within recreational diving limits, so no special technical training required!
You can complete diver training at Subic Bay, or just go there for a days diving on the wrecks.
🌊 El Capitan (USS Majaba): Built in 1919, this ship served the US Navy during WWII. Now, she rests on her port side, making her an ideal wreck for divers of all levels. Explore her large openings and shallow depths-the perfect training ground.
🛳️ “Nikko Maro” - Banshu Maru No. 52: A Japanese auxiliary minesweeper turned wreck, nicknamed “Sakura Maru.” Dive deep (56 meters!) off Grande Island to witness history unfold.
⚓ San Quentin: A Spanish American Warship intentionally scuttled to block the channel. Coral-covered boilers and abundant marine life make this a must-see for beginners and advanced divers alike.
🚢 Landing Craft Utility (LCU): Sunk post-WWII, this wreck lies inside Triboa Bay. Explore her starboard side and imagine the storms she weathered.
