It was a chaotic award show for a very chaotic time period. Which honestly made it THAT much better.
The most likely reason as to why they blurred Chris Brown's jacket was because it was a custom jacket he had made for the show but since it wasn't an authentic Nickelodeon jacket and was never going to be sold in retail stores they simply didn't want to bring attention to it. Instead of asking him to take it off they just blurred it out. This was at the height of SpongeBob's popularity so it was inevitable that thousands of people would have been wanting to buy one just like it which could have potentially led to many cheap knockoffs being sold and zero profit for Nickelodeon.
Or maybe because the uploader of the full show (KCAArchive) had to blur out any images and remove any mentions of SpongeBob when uploading it to RUclips or else Viacom would throw a hissy fit. Which is why it’s unlisted instead of deleted so it can stay on RUclips so Viacom won’t notice. In my opinion, they could just post the whole show to the Internet Archive and I’m sure they’ll be fine.

I actually LOVED Dakota Fanning's speech, I still remember it to this day, it was so sweet and genuine. I liked that it wasn't scripted

5:17 I KNOW WHY CHRIS BROWN'S JACKET WAS CENSORED! Ironically it was because Spongebob IS a character OWNED by nickelodeon, turns out its ILEGAL for a children's network to promote its own merch/products, (in "the sponge that could fly" episode of Spongebob, the scene where patchy throws away his Spongebob stuff, Spongebob is all modifyed with blacked out pupils and bowtie so it doesnt look like oficial merch) I dont know if Chris's Jacket was for sale, or if it was costumized for him, but thats still the most likely reazon

no.....its actually not "ilegal" to do that and they've been doing that for a long time. They blurred it because it wasn't officially branded Nick merchandise and wasn't cleared legally.
Hearing Maroon 5 perform "Makes Me Wonder" at the KCAs was one of my first core memories. Something about those first two albums and the vibe was just...magic.

I watched the kids choice awards religiously as a kid. My favorite memory was the 2011 show when jack black hosted. I got so excited earlier in the day and my mom let me get a bag of gummy worms for the show and it was a huge bag. I ate so many of them and then I threw up during the show and I was so sad that I missed parts of the show. Looking back on I think it was so funny that I threw up from gummy worms and excitement over the KCAs
Actually, there were more than 4 slimings. You forgot about Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan during the opening. Also the reason why the Spongebob was blurred out was that the person who recorded the award show did not want to get into a copyright dispute.

But every single year I also remember voting so much and thinking the votes were rigged, all the kids at school would mostly be talking about how their picks weren't chosen either, besides a few kids in class who always voted for Spongebob and it kinda became a thing to talk about the shows who should have won lol

They featured several things that weren't really meant for kids. Like Blades of Glory (also rated PG-13 and had some pretty raunchy/sexual humor) and Heroes (rated TV-14 and was quite violent even for a TV-14 show).
The reason Chris browns shirt was censored is because it was not on a licsened Nickelodeon merchandise. Yes they own SpongeBob but they would never show their copyright product on what would be considered a counterfeit design. But I love these videos. I watched these as they happened. They were messy. We were messy.
Honestly I miss chaotic TV like this. This made TV Fun to watch as a Kid/ Teen in the 2000s
You should do a Deep Dive on these two ICONIC 2000s eras of awards with nostalgic, uprising celebrities. I remember the time I saw the 2004 Kids Choice Awards(April 4, 2004) and also 2004 Teen Choice Awards(August 8, 2004) at age 10 while I was eating my Blue Raspberry Sour Ooze Tube and so drawn into pop culture. The time when The Olsen Twins got slimed twice, flip phones were everywhere, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie Hosted, so many 2000s nostalgia celebrities that really got me into pop culture and when Raven won an award and said Disney Rocks!!! on Nickelodeon; so Savage. You should do both because while the kids choice awards were going on the teen choice awards were at the same level. I swear one year I remember Eddie Murphy or some black entertainer cussing while presenting something with lily Collins (I think) and her looking shocked at him for doing that. I was an avid watcher of the KCAs as a kid and this one in particular sticks out as one of my favorite. Timberlakes opening song was really good and even as a kid could notice some of these design flaws lol

I think that the kids choice spiked in slimmings in 2009 in which the rock unleashed the mega slime. But yeah
Actually before 2009 this KCA had the most celebrities slimed at 7. 2008 had 4. 2009 had 5. 2010 tied with 2007. 2011 broke the record with 9 ( Not counting Po from Kung Fu Panda and Blu & Jewel from Rio since those were animated slimes). 2012 and 2013 tied with 2011. 2014 broke the record again with 10. 2015 tied with 2014. 2016 had 6. 2017 tied with 2008. 2018 had 7 tying with 2007 and 2010. (Not counting Barbie since it was animated) 2019 tied with 2007 and 2018. 2020 only had 3 since not many celebs were involved. 2021 had the same amount as 2009. 2022 tied with 2011, 2012 and 2013. This year's KCA's had 15 total which is a new record.

The jacket was probably censored because it was an unauthorized jacket. In the “urban market” 😂, A LOT of clothes used cartoon patches and ish that people just made on their own. So in order to not make a fuss with Chris, they just decide to blur things.

It was rated PG-13 and had some crude/sexual humor, so not really. I was also surprised that they had Hayden Panettiere and Masi Oka from the show "Heroes" on there, because that show was definitely not for kids. It got quite graphic and violent at times.
