I love that jack black is so excited to be there, he fully commits to it. It’s so nice to see people put their heart and soul into something that’s for kids. I’m sure that the iconic blimp might not feel as cool as an Oscar, or a Grammy to some celebrities. They may also not even want to be there. But to the kids it’s exciting it’s fun THEY got to vote for something and have their voice be heard for once. So yah I thinks it’s pretty cool

I always appreciate Jack Black's enthusiasm and effort for any job. I watched his episode of Yo Gabba Gabba at least forty times because I was babysitting my toddler nephew at the time, and he made it bearable by being obviously happy to be there and having so much fun with it. It's so sad when people go on kids shows or on any media and half-ass it.
As a kid I LOVED Jack Black on Yo Gabba Gabba. My current favorite band literally played on there and little me was like “meh,” but Jack just brought the energy to every scene he was in.

The puppet was slimed on the game show Figure It Out (Family Style) but that was on Cousin Skeeter first season and they had like 2 or 3 seasons.

The Nickelodeon documentary on Hulu is definitely worth watching. They really had no idea what they were doing and we’re just making it up as they went along and not being afraid to take creative chances.
The Jack Black back in black song has been stuck in my head since the commercials. Every time I hear the real version of the song I think of Jack Black and the entire song comes back to me. So glad you brought it up and played it. Just goes to show how things like that imprint on kids forever

this is finally my time because my mom used to host a kids choice awards party EVERY YEAR for us and we would all vote for our favorites and whoever had the most wins got the biggest prize, everything was green, it was such a time

i loved the KCA when i was a kid, and one of my core memories from my childhood was watching rihanna perform ''rude boy'' at the awards. now, as a little latin american girl who did not know english at all i thought it was super cool and that the song was very catchy. now as a 20 year old i cannot understand for the life of me how they got her to sing THAT song on a show for... well, kids lmaooooo

In response to the question at 15:33 - some awards shows do allow multiple nominations to the same person in a category. It's allowed at the Golden Globes - Leo DiCaprio was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama for both The Departed and Blood Diamond in 2007. The Oscars, on the other hand, does not allow more than one nom in an acting category, but you can get one in Actor and another in Supporting. For example, in 2019 Scarlett Johansson was nominated for Best Actress for Marriage Story and Best Supporting for Jojo Rabbit. As for the Grammys... who gives a sh*t.

@@imsadlol4528 Amy Adams is one of the best - if not THE best - working actress today. The fact she has never won an Oscar is criminal. In 2016 she had some lead actress momentum for both "Arrival" and "Nocturnal Animals." If she had submitted both to the Academy for consideration for Best Actress, she would run the risk of splitting the vote and not earning a nomination at all. It is purely speculative on my behalf, but I think this is exactly what happened, as she wasn't nominated for either that year. Perhaps that's what you may be thinking of. She was nominated for 2 Golden Globes in 2019, but that was for different categories.
TLDR: No, she's never been nominated twice in the same category for an Oscar.
Fun fact, vaguely related to this. In the early years of the Oscars, an actor was nominated (and subsequently won) not for their work in a specific production but for their entire catalogue of work! I always found that so interesting, but I'm glad they changed it. One bad/okay performance would bring your chances down completely, which would suck if you otherwise was consistently good.
I was kinda hoping we'd get a Cramers' Choice Awards with Scott and his family getting slimed, maybe next year?

I actually never watched this award show because my mom said Nickelodeon shows were a bad influence, were for older kids, and would make me stupid. It's interesting to see what other people were enjoying.

@@isabellaisnofella I feel you! My mom banned us from watching SpongeBob after my brother saw a few episodes and started calling my mom a loser. That was an instant nope for her. And I never tried to watch it since she told us not to. You and I were good kids lmao. I remember I wouldn't even eat the candy teachers would give as a reward until I went home and asked my mom for permission lol.
I remember my dad not wanting me to watch Ren & Stimpy and Invader Zim although I could watch Nickelodeon I would still sneak and watch them sometimes though.
My mom just overwhelmed me with so many extracurriculars I never got time to watch any kids content on TV.

Does anyone else remember the slime detonator thing they had during the 2000's? I don't know if they still do this but they used to let you vote on how the slime was incorporated into the show and I remember that being a big deal back in the day

My mom tried to get me to watch the shows she grew up with when I was little and I did watch one (the electric company) but man I wish I didn’t roast the show so much to my moms face 😭 I’ll rewatch it with her now and we’ll both feel nostalgic over it.

My boyfriend and I just recently watched Avatar for the first time and ITS UNBELIEVEABLE. We cannot stop talking about it, lol.
The Kids Choice Awards was just something different, even if you weren't some lucky kid who could actually be there in person it felt like an event nonetheless. I remember they'd have the obnoxious orange blimp watermark on tv shows all day counting down to the event. They even did mini interviews and behind the scenes footage during commercial breaks. It was such an amazing time....and then you had the Day of Play....
Awesome to hear that you brought up Jack black and how he hosted numerous times. His entrance into the KCA 2011 is the best thing and I still watch and remember it to this day .

I remember as a kid before the internet you had to call into a phone number to vote. And it was definitely not a toll free number and it took forever for the automated system to get through all the categories and nominees. So my parents got this charge on their bill for me calling Nickelodeon for like half an hour.

I can’t not smile hard whenever Jables is on screen. I’ve said this many times before and I’m saying it again: Jack Black is my favorite person (other than family of course!) He’s the one person if asked who I want to meet living or dead I’d quickly say his name without hesitation. Such a talent. Everything he does is gold. Fun story, like 6 years ago I met a guy in rehab who used to be in a boy band. I guess that boy band was really popular In Europe and they actually won a kids choice award. So after we’re out of rehab I hung out with him once at his house and saw the blimp in person and got a picture of me with it. Super random haha cool guy though.

Because just like Spongebob, it's pretty static in it's popularity. Generations of kids are being introduced to the series, which is probably why it's still on there.

One of the most iconic kid's choice awards moments for me was when the first Captain America Civil War trailer to show spider man was played. Me and my brother were SCREAMING at the tv when we saw it, and the host was like "YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST"
i remember the first year that i voted noticing that in the promos they would name each celebrity that was coming and it was one person from every category you vote for, and all of them ending up being the winners. meaning the votes meant nothing, they winners were predetermined;( (idk about every year, i only noticed for that year! some time between 2007-2010)

I remember me and my friend throwing a whole party for the kids choice awards once. it was just us there, but we dressed up, built a HUGE blanket fort, decorated the whole living room, and screamed at every award. You think the reason why they didn't nominate Puss in Boots: The Last Wish for Favorite Animated Movie this year is because they only had one DreamWorks slot for that category, and either they wanted to give it to the less predictable and less Kids Choice Awards bait option, or they felt bad for the older sibling who became neglected thanks to the newborn of the two?

Never cared for award shows...except the Kids Choice Awards. That was the highlight of my year growing up. It wasn't like the stuffy award shows you see. It was fun and over the top in the best way possible. Jack Black is the personification of the Kids Choice Awards.
