Had mine a whole month now in the UK, great run around car, commuting to train-station. Full charge last about two weeks if you stay off motorways. Charges fast on 50Kw chargers, about 40 mins. Great car and the APP works for those icy mornings.
Going to check it out in a day or two. I’m 98% convinced that it’s the right car for me at the moment. I’ll be dropping down from a 182 Mazda 6 Platinum spec, been a very reliable and luxurious car to drive for the past 4 years and will definitely miss it. But this Dolphin suits our current lifestyle needs more. Wish me luck 😂
Great review! I love mine, covered 4k. Trumps my old mg4 cupra born and niro in all aspects. 0-60 is closer to 6.4 than the claimed 7! Even in the cold weather at 5deg. Change the ling longs tyres 😂😂 such a difference
The boot space isn’t too bad if you drop the floor to the lower setting. I’ve got it on the high one ATM to hide the cable and make it easy to unload stuff.
Judging by the barely used prices now on the £30k+ EV hatchbacks from the likes of MG and Hyundai, I can't wait for these to start popping up on the used market 😁. There's a Trophy spec MG4 long range at my local MG dealer with a few hundred miles on it and not even a year old for just over £20k! So what are these gonna be going for in a years time I wonder lol
To preheat your car, you can do it over the key fobs or apps, the timer ranges from 10-30 mins can only be set via apps. You can also set a time to preheat your car too via the apps. Whereas for your AC charging speed, it may be due to your battery temperature is on the lower side. However, I do noticed a 10% difference (lower) between the wall charger and what it eventually received by the onboard charger inside the car. This may due to efficiency loss in the onboard charger circuit itself.
I fail to see the point of a panoramic roof for the Irish market as we get little sun and much rain. I think people would prefer a lower price or longer range.
So this was the lower spec and you felt it was nippy. That's interesting a few of the reviewers of the bigger one said they thought the smaller one might be sluggish.
Good review, as always. I really enjoy your videos. It's great to have an Irish point of view. So much more relevant. Oh, the red light jumpers!! What is going on? I use the long Mile road every day. Nobody stops until after the red light. Shockingly poor respect for other drivers.
They'll build a new factory in Europe. A small/low range car like this would start to get interesting at say 15k. Also, they're an unknown brand in Europe, so they can't charge as much as say KIA.
Its the disruption of a new player. For years the motor-cartel has been telling us " inflation/ cost of business/ interest rates" blah, blah. When they want to its 0% finance or scrappage. Its a temporary episode of reality. They had pushed the consumer too far, too greedy. Prices just coming down to a level where sales numbers can happen.
Why take the risk? U buy a car for whatever and year later they're selling the car cheaper.. I'm selling my I.d4 ASAP ..... unless u charge at home they're more expensive to run than diesel/petrol.. Also what nó one is talking about is resale value?
The best bit for the consumer is the price war has just begun. Take the BYD Seal for example it under cuts the VW ID. 7 by €15k in a like for like comparison. I know the VW is a bigger car. I saw my first seal the last day and it is a seriously good looking car. If VW wants sales there going to have to adjust their pricing accordingly.
They are the same price to recharge at DC fastchargers as an ICE car is to refill , but the point is, 95% of your charging is done from home. If you're heading home from a long trip, only put as much DC fastcharge to reach home (with a small buffer) and refill with cheap electricity. If more than 50% of your trips are long distance then the cost/conveniences of ICE make it the smarter choice.
What a piece of junk, and not cheap either for the type of car. The thought of Chinese car companies dumping cars like this on the UK market fills me with dread. Oh, and if they show that gimmicky rotating screen once more, I'll rip it off.

I've just purchased a frunk! Coming from Australia
You can set the time for preheating... it's on settings...

Thanks for telling me what I already covered in the video 👍🏻😉
Where’s that stick that would be between the drivers seat and the passenger seat is there even a gear thing in the car?
The gear selection is the exact same as the leaf. Forward for back and back for forward.
Does it save the traffic sign recognition settings or lane keep settings? I read somewhere you have to turn it off every time you start the car.
Every… single… time…

Light!
In Australia it is called a moon roof. No one wants to be cooked in a car.
i was thinking of the seagull, but i might wait and get a dolphin
Peugeot are same for auto forwards for reversing back to drive
If you had to choose between an MG4 and BYD dolphin wgat would you choose and whic spec?
Keep the good content coming
I think it will depend on what characteristics of each car is more important in making your choice.
So this was the lower spec and you felt it was nippy. That's interesting a few of the reviewers of the bigger one said they thought the smaller one might be sluggish.
This isn’t the lower spec / motor / range version
Would you get this over the Atto 3
If it suits the needs, there’s no point in forking out more money.
@@NobbyOnCars but do you think the Atto 3 is worth the extra 8k ... I'd like to see a comparison video
If you need the additional space, it is yes. If you don't, Dolphin does the job.
Unbelievable that it has a rear window wiper

Hi, l just purchased a BYD Seal in black just 3 weeks ago, you are more than welcome if you would like to test drive it.

New one being built in Hungary as we speak.
@@NobbyOnCars Yes. So what do you reckon the price will be once they don't have to double it anymore? 😁
They'll charge whatever they feel the market will pay I suspect. I don't see them doing China prices anyway!
The more I look at the Dolphin...the more I want to trade in my 73 plate Audi A3...
But why have you got your coat on in the house?
Was heading out the door!
What make of coat is that, if you don't mind me asking? I need to grab a new jacket and that one looks just the job@@NobbyOnCars TIA :)

I agree about red light breakers. It's out of control. A disaster waiting to happen.
No fear of a Garda spotting it that’s the problem
Nobby, it looks like you never wrecked your hearing by going to a lot of rock concerts.
Hearing tested last year for a medical, as good as a 20 year old I was told !!
Pat Kenny ?!!
Ha, no! Pat is a BMW man
I hope BYD will start on their Balkan expansion this year.
With my BMW 1 series you push forward for reverse and back for drive. It’s not a great looking car inside or out.

This is a very biased publication. You are only telling the negatives using the hamburger technique.

They’ll just move around it, build more factories. I don’t think most people understand the scale of this company to be honest.
