- In this video we test out some mufflers.
Cherry Bomb Turbo Mufflers
Flowmaster Delta 40 mufflers
Straight pipe.
1968 Pontiac Catalina
400 Engine/Turbo 400 Trans
Positives and Negatives
Cherry Bomb Turbo
- are quieter all around. The drone is less but with the Pontiac motor it kinda sounds like a UPS truck. Good sounding, good road trip mufflers. The rumble is a little bit bassier in some areas than the Flowmaster, but the Flowmaster makes up for the boost in overall loudness.
Flowmaster Delta 40 Series
- The delta 40s have 3 delta plates in them, so they are tuned to be a quieter 40 series for more drivability. They are definitely quieter than the Super 44's I had on a while ago. Less drone in the cabin. The drone on the flows is much greater than the turbo's though. The nice thing about them is you can hear the pulse of the V8 more. Much more of a "Muscle Car" sound.
It all depends on your cars shift pattern and resonance frequencies. If you spend a lot of time at a rpm that produces drone you will have to choose mufflers accordingly.
Yes... I didnt see that the wheels were still moving. Dumb mistake. Авто/Мото
Yess flowmasters all the way . I love that sound they make I have them on everything i own but just 40 series flowmaster
The sound is amazing!
Sound awesome! I might grab one
I heard a lot of videos of cherry bomb turbo on cars. Ur is the best After hearing The conclusion is that good sound just is result of an engine. Ur engine is wunderbar
Awesome mighty sound....
Like the cherry bomb turbo.
Yea me too.
Sounds pretty great, i’m running moroso spirals on my built Olds 350 love ‘em.
Hm.. never heard of that. I shall look that up :).
Love it
I also prefer the Turbo. sounds more aggressive. I am listening thru Klipsch speakers and subs... So I just ordered the Turbos for my Impala Police edition. Only 27k. Detective's car.
The Flowmaster mufflers for sure they sound nice on the Pontiac. For the people making comments about 4 doors most of the time they have lower production numbers than a 2 door. That means they are more rare. I also have a 67 Buick Special Deluxe bought new by my great grandparents it also is a 225 Odd Fire V6 also a two tone car one of less then 200 made in 67 from daily production reports.
Well, according to statistics atleast when it comes to Pontiac Bonneville -66 4 door where made in more numbers then 2 door and convertible. Today we had a big car show in Sweden named Power Big Meet. Of the 10 Bonnevilles I saw there was only 1 4 door when I took a walkaround the field. Which is interesting because in 1966 the 4 door was produced in more numbers, yet rare in Sweden it seems. I have watched Bonnevilles for sale for over 2 months now and most of them are 2 door. Of these 15-20 on sale there has only been like 5 4 doors on sale. All of them from the year 1966.
In 1966 135,331 made 68,646 were 4 doors. @@Necronomous
It is important to remember that when doing exhaust videos it is best to make sure the exhaust and associated fumes are flowing freely into the garage where you will be working.
I’ve got a 64 Catalina 4 door, I’m trying to decide what exhaust to go with. Nice 4 door! Mine is almost the same color.
Very nice, I would love to see your car. Bet it looks beautiful. Be sure to check out my other vids if you want some more reference sounds so you can make the right choice for what you want. I love that year as well.
It's a year later. What did you end up going with? I have a 64 Catalina and I've been watching non stop flowmaster 40 series videos to gauge whether I want to use them on the 389.
i knew the right choice at :55
Turbos sound much better than the Flowmasters IMO
What size motor is in the car? The car looks like it is in mint condition. Sounds great too. I like the sound of both mufflers.
She is very far from mint my friend :) Camera is not your friend for that kind of stuff, but it is overall in solid shape for a 52 year old car. Pontiac 400 with Turbo 400 trans
@@16abind Ok but from what I can see it looks good. If you had it out of the garage and in the light I could see it better. But it is still a very nice-looking car.
It didn’t help remove the back doors though?
flowmaster is alway's the better choice if you ask me all the time it dosnt matter what kinda car there on peferbly the 40 serie's or 50 serie's or the super 44's
What size pipes? 2.25" or 2.5" ?
2.25
As an older guy, I'm sick of drone. Low rumble is best but no drone decides my purchases.
It didn’t remove the back doors though? Can’t solve that problem. Grand pa,s going to be pissed you messed up his ride
What is your deal? I don't even understand what your trying to say
Hey Mike. Stop being stupid. It's annoying.
@@16abind Another 4 door hater. Screw those assholes, same people that talk crap about wagons and convertibles too. Lots of used to haves or could never haves so miserable they have to talk shit about an antique collector car because they don't have anything or it's not exactly like their fantasy car. I bet they can't tell how many doors it has if they're shoved in the trunk, looks the same inside of there! I like the flowmasters, usually don't like the sound of them but they sound right on that engine. For every person I get that says something negative about my 4 door I get 100 people giving me thumbs up or wanting to buy it or saying they or someone they know had one.
@@16abind Dude’s made three comments like this, guess he REALLY doesn’t like sedans😂
i think he has a muffler on the audio
Bro you gotta do better at explaining the vs part and the sounds I don’t even know what this video was about
It’s a four door man there great for smash up derby’s or taking 15 people for ice cream
