Amazing acting! This episode especially show cases the stellar talent that I wish Pernell had been allowed to use more in the show. Pernell truly was a master of his craft. 😊❤️
the way Ben holds Adam in his arms shows the love for his first born son. in my opinion Adam is his favorite one. and also shows me the great actor Pernell Roberts was. as Adam cartwright he made a fabulous and unforgettable role. it'll be remembered for many years to come.
I love this scene dearly. Except for when they are ready to give up finding Adam after only two weeks. Yes they needed to go home and get rested, and then continue the search alternating with each other. The way Ben said “Let’s go home “ was just too flat. Like it was anyone else they had been looking for but one of his beloved sons. But when he did realize that was Adam down there; the joy in his voice was priceless. Adam was remarkable in this episode! ❤️
Shirley, when Ben said "Let's go home", he really didnt want to stop looking for Adam...he seemed a bit hesitant to leave..a parent and good parent does not want to give up the search. And maybe he was just saying that, but lost in thought of finding his son dead..Thst scene is in my top 5 best from the series..so hard to see Adam who is usually strong and sure of himself becomes almost a shell and nearly emotionally and mentally pushed to the limits of survival..I don't know what's harder to watch, Adam's collapse or Ben's loving care for his eldest..sorry for rambling on..
I found it unrealistic upon seeing Adam they'd sit on their horses shouting his name. Wouldn't they start riding instantly, perhaps shouting while riding?
I was expecting a song. When I heard it as a clip from the show it surprised me. It is so touching. I wasn't ready for it. This is such a poinet moment between father & son, it really tugs at my heart. Thanks for the post.
christine haigh This is a scene that has a lot of emotion to it. I have always cried at this part of the show. The love that is shown in this small clip is overpowering.
Jewneel Walker: I love this episode of Adam I cry when I watch it. I like the last part where Ben & the boys found him & he was crying. I have never seen Pernell play the part where he would cry over something. I love Pernell very much & I sure miss seeing him. Jewneel
Watched The Crucible again..what I picked up in the episode was sheer hopelessness..Cain would have killed them on the spot if Adam would have yelled..or he would have been killed and his family would have found him...it was so sad to see Adam face this evil and see hope dashed again and again..
I like this episode the most....!! Only Adam could make this marvelours program, working with Lee Marvin. Oh, my God, my sweet love sufered too much!!! He is my hero. ♡♡Pernell&Rosa♡♡
Ben truly loved his sons and vice versa. The entire family had souch compassion, love, admiration and respect for one another. Whenever one or more went missing the one or ones remaining would unfailingly go looking for him and would not rest until he was found, talk about undying dedicated and devotional family unity. This segment was very much so deserving of an Emmy award, especially for my beloved Pernell Roberts ( Adam Cartwright) but Hollywood in my estimation is very fickle and sometimes just don't give the awards to the much deserving Candidate, but regardless whether they were rewarded or not I will forever love and be a bonafide dedicated devoted Bonanza fan throughout all eternity. Especially to my handsome sexy masculine Adam Cartwright. Bravo Pernell Roberts, acting job truly super sensational perfection personified.❤️👏💯👍🥰✨🏆
It should not surprise any viewer of Bonanza how many considered this their favorite episode, and that includes me. It was one of Pernell's favorite episodes as it showcased his acting ability. When I watched this scene I had no idea where Adam was walking to, at what point Caine died, or what Adam was thinking, if he was thinking at all. I wonder if he was just going to walk until he died, or if there was still a glimmer of hope his family would find him. When he recognized his father all his misery must have left him as he felt his pa's arms around him and saw his brothers as well. A very difficult episode to watch with a heart-warming ending that put everything right. Kudos to both Pernell and Marvin for their acting prowess.

Can’t believe they were giving up after only two weeks. The way Ben said‘alright let’s go home’ after only two weeks was so shallow. This wasn’t the Cartwrights I know and love. But when they did find Adam; what a touching scene!
I just have this feeling that as Ben was saying that, he had his heart set on finding his eldest son alive. I have to agree with Sandra Sanders in that his heart did not agree with the words he spoke.
This one of the most powerful episodes and ending as well. This is one of my all time favorite episodes to watch.
What season n episode was this???
My absolute favorite episode. Pernell was such a wonderful actor (and gorgeous). This last scene just kills me every time!
What is episode? Please.thanks
@@queenpoppy29 The Crucible
I also like My Brother's Keeper, Vengeance, The Hopefuls, and Triangle
Think this episode shows the closeness between siblings and father and son. It is very heart-wrenching.
The most memorable and loving scene between Adam and Ben. A powerful moment for the family. My favorite episode.

Well you got to think Adam is the least rambunctious unlike little joe joe and hoss

Story of Adam left home
He does the same thing with little Joe in The Gift and he shows similar affection for Hoss in other episodes.
He loves all three of his sons equally
When Adam cries ‘Oh Pa’ it breaks my heart
Yeah, especially coming from Adam, who is usually by far the most stoic of the bunch...

Mary M Such a very loving and touching moment between Adam and Ben!
Mary M I had never seen Adam "cry" in any episode as he had in this one!

You need to see Dark Gate, Season 2 episode. He cries over killing his friend. It's not the same but there are tears and Hoss consoles him at the end.

Cet fin d episode est une pépite pernell est magistral un vrai acteur merci❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
really it´s so touching. this is my favorite episode too.----realmente este episodio" toca fundo" .excelente atuação de Adam
This is also one of the very few times we see Adam completely lose it.
It gives the scene more emotional impact since it doesn't happen often. 😊
@@rjhollenbeck8442 Absolutely...Adam was usually the most mentally hard of the group...to see him like this is unsettling...

Lets give up. Oh wait there he is
Oh my gosh - when Ben cradles Adam in his arms - my feels! What an ending. D:
J'adore cette série que j'ai en français jusqu'à la saison six , si possibilité d'avoir la suite sans ADAM , je suis preneur , merci.

Pernell Roberts was great here... there was great acting in Bonanza.....
I remember watching this episode with my grandpa, when I was a little boy.
Hi 🙋♀️ this is a very nice 👍🏻
Too bad this wasn't a two-part episode!
What should happen in the second part?
The aftermath for Adam and the family.
Essa é uma das cenas mais incríveis de Bonanza. Com certeza está entre as minhas preferidas.
