I really like these vids, I appreciate build rundown and then a dyno pull and full graphs.

Are you guys making pistons again? I have been out of the race engine scene for a number of years. Bought lots of parts from Mark over the years and thought he was selling and retiring. Researching another race engine and ran into you vid.......Hence the questions as I am looking for good pistons at a fair price. Probe was always a great piston for the money.

I’m doing my research on 408 builds right now. Would love to build something similar to this!

I was wanting to build a 408W with the 185cc AFR heads, cause I already have them, with your guys experience what is your max HP and Torque with them? I want to build a street strip motor, mostly street, custom ground cam. Also what do you guys have for that kind of rotating kit for that application and do you guys do custom cams? I wanted to use a Vic Jr intake. Is 530 HP achievable with the 185cc heads?

I did build exactly what you're talking about except I went with EFI instead of carb. 185 AFR heads. Definitely go with Ed Curtis at flowtech for a custom bumpstick. He'll dial in your cam with what you have for your build and build it with what your looking to get out of your motor. Mine has mild street manners until you take rpms above 4700 and the the car screams and pulls hard as shit. Over 600 lift but mild idle. Decent gas mileage...about 14mpg. I had CHP build me my 408 short block. Found a guy in Columbus Ohio to tune car with moates quarter horse chip. Car runs pretty damn good. Starts hard until warmed up but then it's great. Stock ECU still. It's a great computer if you got the right guy to tune it. Car dynoed 455 HP with 450 torque. So motor prob makes about 530 HP. In a 2900 lb Foxbody the car is a blast. Good luck.

That's a nice engine for my F-150. How much that package retail for?

horsepower is in the heads... with this cam profile not a ton, but there will be gains.

What kind of power do you think this engine would make if the cam had 292/300 duration with 600 lift and a victor jr intake?

Much more, for a junkyard 351w 408 is the reasonable limit. If you want anything over that you need an aftermarket block with 4.125 cylinder bores to get it up to 427 with a 4 inch crank. Anything over that starts getting pretty exotic.

205 heads would be much better. 185 are way too small
