My favorite way to play Dialga EX right now is Pidgeot EX with 1 copy of Dawn. 170 HP or 190 with cape is very good in this meta I feel like, plus the Dawn gives you the opportunity to go back into a Dialga and attack with it. It also gives you a new mode on games where Pidgeot EX doesn't show up in time even with 2 copies of Communication. I'm trying double X Speed instead of Leaf for Dawn combos. I beat Exeggutor Yanmega and Meltmetal yesterday at Ursii's tournament with a very unoptimized spur-of-the-moment list, if it gets optimized I think it's super fun!
@rrteppo Yeah stage 2 vs stage 1 plus having Grass typing means Yanmega is almost always a net improvement but I still like Pidgeot EX for the damage potential. We'll see how things shape up. It's not like Dialga is a clear meta staple either... looking rough for birb
@@grtfl_thank The grass typing is good against Darkrai specifically, but otherwise I would prefer the extra HP from the birb. Because 170-190 is really nice against things like infernape.
Dialga is my favorite ex I've pulled yet. It's so good for colorless decks and mons that don't need certain typing. Want to add a grass Mon with dialga? You got it. Oh you need an electric mon in your deck. Time daddy is here
I haven't built any Mismagius EX deck yet but it feels like a card you keep on your bench with Giant Cape attached. Then whenever the enemy has their big hitter set up you bring it out to confuse and damage them, Status might cause them to switch so you Cyrus and finish them with another Pokémon.
It is important to know that the Darkrai deck most likely chooses a Kang over another Drudd because it helps with the Magnezone’s breakpoint in the mirror matchup. If the Kang hits the Magnezone or anything in its evolution line, the Mag will be down to 110, which allows the Kang player’s Mag to one shot the other Mag. It’s also very unlikely that someone uses their cape on Mag since they are most likely to be placed on the Darkrai or Drudd.
There are so many cards to explore DialgaEX with-Yanmega Ex, Mew EX, Pigeot EX, Wigglytuff EX, Lickilicky EX, etc. Not to mention the promising metal-types like Melmetal and Bastiodon. I dont think its even close to being done being explored. Palkia just doing better now because its very one dimensional so its best build is mostly settled. Its just a matter of whether you want to Misty, Vaporeon, or both along with Manaphy. I have even seen a Dialga EX build with Golem that only ran metal energy thats actually been pretty good. The way to get the one fighting energy on Golem it needs is by running two Brocks. Manaphy also seems unexplored because it actually can work on non-Water pokemon. Its not restricted like Moltress is.
I’d like to see you try out 1x chatot + 2x cranados and aerodactyl lines. Forcing the chatot in the starting hand makes the deck incredibly consistent against most new decks that need to ramp and I’ve been surprised how good it is even against weavile darkrai being as fast as it is to get online.
Could you do a video on the new playstyle (no deck specific) with the new cards? Everything I know has been flipped due to the introduction of Cyrus lol
When you can go second in a match, Mismagius+Cape can make quick work if you can evolve and have 2 energy on your second turn. Feels like starmie, but 90 vs 70 dpt really is a big break point in the current meta unfortunately
2:15 oh bruh naaaah HAHAH for me it's more like use gio for a guaranteed 70 😂 also 4:10 i feel like spiritomb was designed to be splashable with cyrus in any deck bc colorless. Planning on cooking with that. But also, shaymin is splashable in any deck as a hard counter to spiritomb
Galade is just a an ex 3 evolution version of Alakazam. Everyone forgets alakazam exists. And Alakazam isn’t even an EX. So yea, he was obviously gonna be a flop

Gallade can cook trust me. Try 2x gallade line and 1x Marshadow, hitmonlee, and spiritomb. With double cyrus and rocky helm, hitmonlee and spiritomb help spread damage out across the board and gallade comes out late game to shred. I have had this deck since the expansion dropped and it is insanelly meta, over 70% win rate in my experience. I think everyone is just playing him incorrectly. He needs quick 1 energy attackers to weaken the enemy for him. Marshadow is also clutch as another win condition for when one of your mons goes down. Gallade is hands down my favorite pokemon from the new expansion

I mean it’s a 20 card deck there’s not a lot of room to “build” decks in the first place. Just got the draw cards, gust & tool cards, retreat & dawn cards, maybe some damage or healing cards then like 6-10 Pokemon. The fast pace of matches really promotes experimentation anyway and makes it easier for new and experienced players to adapt. So I guess if you don’t like a certain way a deck is then adapt to what you want to play. Even if it’s red card

I think Pidgeot EX is a lot better now with rocky helmet in the game. In a vacuum it seems about the same as YanmegaEX as well.

Palkia Starmie seems just as good as Vaporeon so far. Interesting to see which becomes the dominant variation.
