Heyo! I'm renzochase from Ursiiday. It's still week 1 of new set, so we still need to discover many things. The way i feel about the meta now (basically learned it throughout the tourney) is that the meta is Cyrus control. Whoever get 1 damage into any benched EX will eventually get the snipe win by turn 20. So we need to make many tempo/aggressive plays, sacrificing damaged mons cause retreating them is not safe while losing time, and you might lose the whole game because of it. I found the hardest matchups are Egg and normal DarkWeavile, but i haven't played versus Palkia. Also: I think what will beat Darkrai will be any form of bench hitters + something that oneshots with cyrus. Maybe rampardos + lucario, or Golem, idk. Do your cooks, next weeks ursii's will be an interesting tourney!!
What an awesome vid from my favorite Pokemon RUclipsr! I really liked the way you talked about the expectation/reality of this early meta, and how you highlighted decks that are adaptating from previous meta as well!
20:03. I've been building fossil decks with Lucario from day one of the expansion because I feel like they got a huge upgrade with Pokemon Communications. In all my versions, I lowered the basics down to 3, because I think Chatot is very important in Fossil decks, since you can easily drop your hand. Pokemon Communications is also a -1 in card advantage other than a hand fixer (meaning that it can be a -2 if it finds an evolution for one of your fossils/basics) . All this means Chatot lets you see a ton of cards more often than not. By lowering your Basics count and dropping one pokeball, you make your starts way more consistent, and increase your odds of actually finding those fossils. The tradeoff is a couple of weird starts in which you go first and open on Riolu, and less chip damage in the beginning. But I feel like it's worth it, because you can stack your damage up in the mid to late game and really start pressuring your opponent. I don't know if my version is better or not, but I'm having a ton of fun with this playstyle and I've been winning a lot because this decks is surprisingly fast, hits quite hard and has decent bulk. I also run a single copy of Aerodactyl ex just to have a plan b, another fossil to dump and discard, and some extra bulk and utility with Aerodactyl
I was playin around with this but with a few *single copies* of good utility basics (like mew, hitmonlee, marshadow etc.) gives some great versatility and consistency too! Since you’re gonna be starting with a non fossil, pokeballs can’t search for fossils, and you still have research and communications to get the cards you need. Mew with a Cyrus is so good against palkias hahaha
I really love Charizard but playing againts Manaphy Palkia Vaporeon is pain. They ramp energy for two pokemon per turn, while I rely on coin flip while only dumping it on a single pokemon. I play it with Mew, totally agree with your opinion is now being useless due to cape. Water deck seems unbeatable for me.
I was running Dialga Magnazone myself, but okay, I have the pieces for this build, so I may try it. I knew Magnamite line had potential as a slot in multicolor decks, feels good to be justified.
Pokécoms helps Mewtwo, or rather Gardevoir, quite a bit, but compared to Manaphy or Dialga... or even Magneton, a stage2 Gardevoir is still slower, also Cape has made it so many Pokémon actually outlive a hit from Mewtwo which means the payoff isn't as great as it used to be. Mewtwo also _having_ (if you want to use Psychic Sphere to put stuff in Range for Psydrive) to sit in the active spot, also means it's very much under pressure from things like Cyrus and Rocky Helmet, which are arguably the most meta relevant cards right now.
@@TommasoFrausin A lot of people are playing Palkia right now so it's harder to tell, as anything Electric has advantage against it. Also, for some reason, you don't see a lot of Fighting decks anymore, but if you do it's pretty much an automatic loss i feel like, which tbf in a way has always been the case with Electric decks. Some people actually prefer Pachirisu over Pikachu to the point of them literally only playing Pachirisu and 18 Trainer Cards, due to Mars being busted if they take out your EX for two Prize Points. (personally i would tryout running it with 1 Colorless Aerodactyl if i owned a copy)
Finally... Meta decks that are actually fun to pilot. Also, Cyrus is pretty much changed how the game was played. It's so impactful that you will always assume it is in their hand.
darkrai is effectively an early greninja magneton generate tons of energy and magnezone deals good dmg 110 + 20 is good enough to kill pikachu, celebi, mew, etc palkia is currently meta so 130 + 20 just get one shot druddigon is just druddigon, the chip with darkrai is super good
We dont need sabrina for decks that utilizes “pursuit” because cyrus does that better than sabrina. Theres no reason to sabrina, unless im mistaken. Cyrus is just too good
Decks are playing around Cyrus by letting their active spot die instead of pivoting. Because of this, sabrina in the early game throws them off while also setting up Cyrus later. It's not necessarily and either or, its more that they work together in the long term
wait, how does dark only deck with magnezone works? The magneton card says “electric energy from your energy zone” so shouldn’t it take nothing when you have only dark energies in your energy zone? I mean.. sorry to be rational but that is either wrongly stated ability or it should be fixed immediately
No that’s how all cards like that work. Even if you aren’t playing them, it’ll take the energy. It does read that it should work the way you said tho lol
Your energy selection picks the energy that naturally generates each turn, but the energy zone is always capable of generating any type of energy. You can see this is an intentional mechanic because Porygon Z's ability directly interacts with it. If the zone could only generate the selected energy types then PZ couldn't change it to something random.
@@ayanami_aynprobably the same as Darkrai/Magnezone, but just with Pachirisu instead of Darkrai, although it wouldn't really make sense to be running a Druddigon if you don't have Darkrai's ability to ping for damage and want to attack with Pachirisu. So instead of Druddigon, you either play more Tools or something funny like a Shaymin, Mew EX, Spiritomb or an early Attacker like Rotom-Electric/Farfetch'd/Kangaskhan/newChatot, or if you're feeling spicy you could even use Zapdos EX, to charge it a turn early with Magneton and Dawn.
@@ayanami_ayn here's the optimized list. I playtested 15-20 games. Shaymin is a tech card against Darkrai but also can be swapped for Dawn/XSpeed. What deck are you using that's now unusable? Ya it's absolutely about money, but it's also about bringing change. Would you really have liked if they just never expanded into more cards and kept things the same forever? Not all changes are great, like the way they did trading, but I for one am happy there are slightly less of the same 3 decks of Celebi, Mewtwo, Gyarados, being seen everywhere with very little differences between them. That's not fun.
Honchkrow is a very cool pokémon, i like the card too, i made a Weezing Drapion deck to get the challenge for the CPU battle with no 4Diamond cards, and was surprised how well Honchkrow performed in it, Pokécomms definitely did glue the deck together though.
Used the Darkrai Magna deck yesterday in the hoogland/spragels $1500 tourney and went 5-2 in 7 rounds. The deck feels so powerful right now

I've been waiting for a video like this! Thanks for sharing all the decks to try. Great video and explanations.
Why do they use 10dmg Magnemite? Am I missing something? Nvm, it's colorless energy.
Thank you, I was confused for the same reason
Yeah since your only running Dark energy.
It’s probably more for the health, you aren’t really attacking with magnamite.

7:20 currently trying infernape instead of Charizard
Wb running dawn with Charizard? It should increase moltres consistency, although I guess potions are good to keep to deny cyrus
Hey man can u make a video about Infernape
Doing my head in. i made this deck on day 1 and now everyone is using it!!

Could Yanmega be useful here?
Pikachu/pashirisu has potential as well
So no infernape?
140dmg feels awkward. Char is the better fire pick rn.
not yet, still confused on how to pilot it and palkia is dominating rn
@@DiccMillie yeah i tried both and charizard is clearly better for now
That palkia deck is just a free win for my rampy
Is pikachu ex still a thing?
Yes/No. Electric good vs Palkia 🤷
I love using Dusknoir with Regigigas. I healed 150hp over the course of a game with that combo
I thought about using Dusknoir with Rocky Helmet and Giratina or Cresselia (EX), but maybe Lickilicky or Yanmega could also be decent with it.

The 1st deck is really really strange cause .. as you said, there’s nothing that feels overpowered on it so I really don’t understand
consistency maybe
You just win because of the energy economy advantage you get and all of your pokemon are all beefy enough to not die in one hit with a cape on.
