🌍 The sacrifice of 300, finally went down in history as the supreme love for the homeland. Because they went to Thermopylae knowing that they would die. Apella (the Assembly of Sparta) chose the 300 to be over fifty years old and to leave behind at least one son. Those who were not elected left the assembly with tears in their eyes.

Αυτό είναι μια μεγάλη κουβέντα, γιατί και ο Εφιάλτης συμπατριώτης μας ήταν. Όμως εμένα με συναρπάζει η Σπαρτιατική Δημοκρατία. Βέβαια για δεκάδες αιώνες πέρασε η Αθηναϊκή προπαγάνδα (μέσω των Μακεδόνων της Αλεξάνδρειας) που έθαψαν κάθε Λακωνικό κείμενο. Γιατί δεν μπορεί η πόλη του Αλκμάν(α) και του Χείλωνα να μην άφησε γραπτά μνημεία.

@@Charoulitsa2579 Δεν μου αρέσει ο όρος νέα τάξη πραγμάτων. Θυμίζει λίγο Χίτλερ. Κανείς δεν είναι σε θέση να μας επιβάλει κάτι. Απλά η τεχνολογία τρέχει με ρυθμούς που δεν μπορούμε να ακολουθήσουμε. Αυτή μας κατευθύνει. Εμείς τρέχουμε ιδρωμένοι και δεν την φτάνουμε. Παλιά το επάγγελμα περνούσε από τον πατέρα στο παιδί και αυτό ήταν όλο. Πόσες βελτιώσεις έγιναν για παράδειγμα στο πετάλωμα μέσα σε δεκάδες αιώνες; Το παιδί του πεταλωτή τι παραπάνω χρειάστηκε να κάνει; Ενώ τώρα τα παιδιά ψάχνονται στον επαγγελματικό χώρο.

The battle took place in Thermopylae in August or September of the year 480 BC, exactly 2,500 years ago. Unfortunatelly because of the coronavirus the celebration is cancelled.

A great man Leonidas...I have stop by the statue in Thermophiles many thimes on my way to Lamia, Machrihori, Thessaloniki areas.It's something special to sit there and think about and feel the history....and drink Coffee.. before or after a hot bath (39-40 C) behind Shell...Sparta is also a beautyful town where I also will go back to see...What a history they have.❤❤❤

Δυστυχώς στην Ελλάδα τα μαθήματα διδάσκονται επιδερμικά, με πολύ μπλα-μπλα και χωρίς ουσία.Στην περίπτωση των Θερμοπυλών είναι σημαντικό να γνωρίζουμε ότι όταν η Απέλλα συνεδρίασε για να επιλέξει τους 300 πενηντάρηδες και εξηντάρηδες, πολλοί αποχώρησαν κλαίγοντας γιατί δεν επελέγησαν. Αυτό ήταν το μεγαλείο της Σπαρτιατικής Δημοκρατίας.
