I was raised in the Dutch tradition--Heidelberg catechism taught every week. My husband and I along with our son and his family joined a PCA church, however I see no evidence that my now high school aged grandchildren have learned any catechism at all. It is not preached from the pulpit, and when I dare to ask them what they have learned about doctrine, they have no response,. Youth groups seems more focused abut fun and maybe as as an aside, what they think scripture verses mean TO THEM.
This is so important. Thank you!

Gosh, you are only now addressing the teaching of doctrine. Why are you so nervous about Catholics
