Hallo, I have a problem on heat transfer. A solid with a source of heat generation is first at 50 Kelvin. It is then exposed to atmospheric temperature (300 K). The situation is, the solid’s heat generation is varying with change in temperature. How to give the heat generation which is varying with temperature in ansys workbench? Expecting a reply, thanks in advance
I would also like to know if a heated material is in touch with other material at a room temperature. How does heat transfer take place ( graph of temp over time ) from the heated material to the material with lower temperature ?? If you could suggest me some link would be really helpful.
Hi DrDalyO, i have a research project to determine the thermal conductivity of water using the transient hot wire method. i am struggling on how to simulate this. can you please help me. thanks
Vongani Mageza Hi, unfortunately i am not really familiar with the hot wire method. You could maybe use a similar approach done in this video but would need to create a second solid around the wire for the fluid and apply the appropriate boundary conditions. If you could maybe send me more details via pm i could have a look.
+DrDalyO this method actually works as follows, a very thin wire is immersed in liquid and the wire is supplied with a constant heat flux. what i am actually interested on is the change in temperature on the WIRE due to the surrounded fluid (it can be engine oil or water). i need to get a TIME VS TEMPERATURE GRAPH of the wire. The difference between the example above and what i am looking for is the fact that the bar is no longer surrounded by air but a different fluid.
Hello, I am working on the flow around a turboprop propeller using an actuator disk on ansys fluent. Could you give some suggestions on how to model the pressure jump boundary condition that leads to the slipstream contraction! :)
Hi, thanks for your video. You say that the film coefficient for steel to air is 2 to 23. Is there any source where I can find the film coefficients for other material combination? I try to simulate a setup with a polystyrene-air surface. Any suggestions on which value to chose? In my example, I try to simulate a box of polystyrene filled with liquid nitrogen. As initial temperature for the inside, I set -196 °C. For the other surfaces, I set a film coefficient of 22 W m^-1 K-1 (this value is does not matter for checking if my model works or not in my opinion) and an ambient temperature of 22 °C. Simulation time is 300 s. My problem is, that somehow I get a rise in the maximal temperature up to about 140 °C. I have no idea where this comes from, as I have no heating added anywhere in this model. Any suggestions?
Double check the environment temperature and if you set proper adiabatic boundary conditions. For the film coefficients, they are indeed not easy to find. Best hope is to search for it online and/or find something close to polystyrene. Here are some (unverified) sources: www.engineeringtoolbox.com/overall-heat-transfer-coefficients-d_284.html www.hcheattransfer.com/coefficients.html Thanks!
Very helpful video! Thanks! If I have an internal cavity inside the tube, which is also filled with air. The inside air and outside ambient air are at different temperatures. Do you know a way to setup that simulation?
Thank u sir for such lucid demonstration of transient thermal analysis. I want to know that how can i apply heat flux to a small surface let say 10 mm2 around the centre of the cylinder @ its upper circular Xsection
Hello Thank you for this valuable vid. I have a bit more complex problem i would really appreciate if you can give me a bit of a heads up. I have a steel ball at 800 kelvin and a block of wood. I want to have nitrogen flowing over it as a gas which will have around 800 kelvin as well while the block of wood is at say 300 kelvin. How do you specify all of these ? I tried to work it in fluent and its not working well. I think i need the transient analysis on this.
Hi DrDalyO, You know how to enter a boundary condition of natural convection. If only the ambient air temperature is known. All this for a transient problem on a wall PS: sorry if my not understand much English
Hello Sir, I am working on reliability of PV module, where different layers of solder have to heat upto 230 degree and then we have to cool down it to 30 degree and then we have to apply temperature cycle which varies from -40 degree to 80 degree for 400 cycles. How to implement this on ansys workbench, i am not getting ideas. can u please help me little, how to apply temperature cycle in ansys. How i calculate residual stress there?
+Prakash Pratik sounds like a fatigue problem, check out in the engineering data some alternating stress properties or temperature properties you could input, or do a fatigue analysis. This would be a more difficult tutorial, and for now i am focused on videos for beginners.
Hello Doctor, I have a problem, i have imported the load from fluent to transient mechanical, in fluent i did analysis for 10 seconds with step of 0.1 sec = 100 steps when i import the load to transient mechanical im unable to plot deformation with the same time step from fluent can you help me please by providing me your email ?
hello sir I'm working on a Modelling of temperature generated during the turning. Sir can you please send the tutorial on the temperature modelling during the turning. Thank you.
Thank you very much for the video. This is exactly what i was looking for .
great video.......Really helped me with my project
Very helpful. Thank you, Sir.
quite informative ...thanx dr

Thanks you! How can I resume the solution if I close the program? Thanks
+Have a nice time! You would have to save the project before closing the program
So, how much does these solutions and equations solvings correlates with real case temperature distribution?

Can you explain how to simulate radiation and conduction heat transfer between metal surfaces through glass in between metals.

You have to add convections with their corresponding temperatures as he does on 2:20
@@axelmiranda789 He probably would have retired by now man

+syed ahmed This is a Fluent problem. It would take me a lot of time to explain it. If you want you can PM me and we can discuss.
+DrDalyO thank you for your response, could you give me your email address for me to mail you then?
+syed ahmed see my about page on my channel for my email. thanks.

you should check the time table in transient structural and ensure it matches with fluent.
You have to copy the time step information you used in fluent. Then click in the time step box in mechanical and right click and paste.
can you please add steady state therma analysis of more complex part..thanks...good explanation
how do you calculate average temp of solid vs time data
hello sir
