- The long awaited sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest is finally here, and I'm happy to say that it improved upon the original in almost every aspect. Let's talk about why you NEED to play it!

this game has an all-time soundtrack. I can't even begin to explain how many videos people will start hearing the music in
You are definitively right! The soundtrack of the first one took my breath as long as the new one!
i just came back through all these videos because i heart a song from the OST in a video essay xD
Ori and the will of the wisps is one of the most beatiful games i've played. Not the most graphic intensive, but just beautiful.
That means that game did something right. Graphics is only one way to make a game beautiful and I hope that those who want to make games can understand this.
@@ge789 Yep all game developers should follow this mantra.
Unless you're playing on Xbox One
Pascal483 thats like saying “objectively, fortnite is bad. you’re incorrect. imho”
i’d say my brain has been smoothed by this, but it’s already been destroyed by modern politics
Pascal483 well, it definitely sounds like you’re treating this as objective fact when you say “MHMHMHM, CORRECTION:”
Woah, the Rivals of Aether DLC character has a pair of games???????? amazing.
Omg Banjo from Diddy Kong Racing has his own series!? *amazing.*
@@GareBear-x2c wow, jump man from donkey kong has his own series of games?! W O W
@@omeletttte oMfG😲!!! Cloud's bastard child has his own series called Kingdom Hearts!!!! *WOW*
John Wick from Fortnite has his own movie trilogy????
3:55 That "Fireball" was in Ori and the Blind Forest. It was introduced with the definitive edition along side the Dash. Though it looked more like a "Lightball" instead.
Constantine Andriyanov they were unnecessary but I didn’t feel like it negatively impacted the game. They were just kind of redundant. The extra zone made it worthwhile.
Andy Ward fwiw I really enjoyed the dash. got it early on and it definitely made traversing some parts of the map way easier
yea same
Everything about the game is perfect aside from one thing...
the flag in Windswept Wastes (as seen at 2:09) is flowing the wrong direction! Unplayable!
lol
yea, that flag ruins it all.
Thanks, now i know to not buy the game, you saved me from a terrible experience
This a joke or not? Also dont r/whoosh me please

Agreed, I liked the original well enough but this one blew me away. The improved combat goes a long way. Then you have the pitch perfect movement and audio/visual package making it a world that's just a joy to explore. Then add in some absolutely stunning boss battles and set pieces. I also appreciate the tight design, as the game didn't drag itself out. It might be a lock in my top 3 this year.
This game has a beautiful desgin. Kaash na ho! Kaash na ho! Yes, I'm right! Kaash na ho!
Just finished 100%-ing this game a few minutes ago. I'm hardly ever a completionist so that speaks to how fun this game is.
SAME 100%ing it was just so much fun
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is just plain better than the first one.
It's amazing.
Don't need to play it. I already beat it, and it's one of my favorite games of this year already! They really took notes from Hollow Knight's combat and made the game slightly harder than the first, but rewarding nonentheless.
4:47 My only experience with that mechanic was constantly saying "I forgot to SAAAAAAAVE" any time I died. I actually had to put a sticky note reminding me to do so on the bottom of the TV. It didn't help.
I really wonder what Moon Studios is going to do next. I kinda hope it's a brand new IP and try something different.
Late for this, but they're actually making an... ARPG apparently.
The source was a job listing..
EDIT: Thomas Mahler said on Twitter that it's not "our humans" apparently
That would be awesome! I personally hope that they continue to build up the world of Ori for at least another 2 games so that we can play as the wisp that helps Ori in the first game, and the wisp in the second game. I believe it would help to build up the world and give us a better idea of how much the world was changed when the wisp was split into pieces. The gumos exctintion in the blind forest, or building upon the parental figure more and getting to see the species before the owl attacked the wisp (its been a while so I can't remember the names). Not to mention the hint at the end of Ori and the will of the wisps where a leaf falls, which is how spirits like Ori are born, if I'm remembering it right. There's so much potential for a sequel or a prequel and I'd be thrilled to play another game set in the same world as Ori, but I understand that making too many games of a franchise can ruin it.
@@Rose-xe7oj I’m totally with you. A prequel would be interesting. Maybe the original game’s spirit tree was created the same way as we see in Will of the Wisps? Playing as a different character would be very neat. I had an idea where maybe the leaf at the end of WotW could be a reborn Ori, and he has to travel between Nibel and Niwen to stop a new evil. Seeing the future of both lands would sick. This series still has a lot of potential.
*would be sick
@@brendanduffy1408 I didn't think of a reborn Ori, but that would be cool! I agree on it being sick to see what Nibel and Niwen look like when theres no threat and you can just enjoy the scenery. Since the games are as gorgeous as they are even with the forest being destroyed, it really makes you wonder what it would look like at its best.
I haven't played the game and great video. One small gripe. You talked about the ability to throw a fireball that you could then bash on to gain height/movement. You could do that in the blind forest as well so nothing new there(just a light burst ball instead)
I...think I went through the whole definitive edition without realizing you could bash off of those...I just used them to light torches or whatever they were for. Man I completely forgot that was even a mechanic in Ori 1
@@snomangaming Don't you have to use them in sections? At least to get out of the area you first get them in?
@@lifetake3103 You have to use them, but only to light torches. There is absolutely nothing in the game that requires you to Bash off them (i got 100% before learning you could)
@@manuelmadama1636 I'm pretty sure you have to in order to get out of the area you get it in.
@@dave_the_slick8584 It probably is the intended or easiest way, and might be the only way if you go there "early"... but i didn't start exploring that area until i had entered the volcano (which means i had learned all the moves)
I am leaving this video early to savor seeing it for myself, but just the knowledge this game is out means I’m going to go buy it. Thank you for informing me!
Hope you enjoy it!
*_spoiler about _**_1:50_**_ and this is a good quest that you don’t want to spoil yourself_*
1:50 oh no...this is horrible... this is the family reunion quest...and this is the end of the quest, the wrost part is the « I...I must go home » and you never see him again in the village
And now there are a new statue in the house where you find the doll, this quest is so horrible, the Silent Wood are super sad in general but this quest is really sad, and your prize for doing it is being able to enter his new house in the village with some light in it that you can "steal" and a hole in your hearth
Good ol completionism asking you to kill someone for a slight reward and a check mark in the quest book
Where's my choice of lying to him for his own good, Moon?
Who thinks ori is so cute?! I do. And I kinda don't even know what kind of thing ori even is. But it's something really cute :D
Ori is kind of a light spirit or something
Bought it on day of release. Still waiting a month later for them to fix my no sound issue so I can actually play it.
They released a patch recently where they fixed a lot of bugs including sound. Have you tried it since then? Not saying it fixed your issues but if you haven't played in a while now might be a good time.
@@pt.dullahan Wish I could say it fixed it but still no sound. Both my drives are SSD's too so that didn't fix it either. I can play it on my laptop at 720p but still has some frame drops in areas so didn't even wanna both with that.
Retendo I’m gonna replay it once (assuming they do) they fix the performance issues and bugs. I feel like I was cheated a little bit because the performance issues soured the experience.
Yeah unfortunately alot of bugs with this game
It should be fine now
The worst part about this game is the fact that it ends.
When they showcased the time trials a few years ago (maybe last year? I don't remember) and their focus on combat I was very worried about how the game would feel cause I loved the original. Boy was I wrong, the trials were some of the most fun I've had between both games. And the combat is good too, they took a lot of ideas from Hollow Knight but it still feels very different. And the movement, which was my favourite thing about the original, is somehow even better. What a great game, I had a lot of fun playing!
The combat was nice, which is ironically kind of a shame cause when you gain movement you can skip most of it, and even in the forced combat it becomes trivial once you gain two particular abilities that are very OP in combination.
I've been watching you for over a year and a half now and I really like how your content has grown and developed. You do a great job and your videos are visually interesting
I knew it was going to be a good video as soon as I saw the length of the video wasn’t drawn out to 10 minutes. I love how fucking genuine you are man. This game got slept on too much because of the release of Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing so needless to say seeing this pop into my feed was a pleasant surprise. We don’t deserve you Snoman.
Hey Snoman! I’ve been waiting for you to cover this game. Beautiful and heartfelt.
I'm on my third playthrough of this now (first hard mode run). Tiny details I'm noticing for the first time: I had missed the little snippets of backstory for the spirit trees that relate to the abilities they give you in Blind Forest, but then I realized that the Will of the Wisps spirit trees are shaped/have features that relate to their respective abilities. Also, the "power-up" jingle has variants depending on what area you're in.
Oh, god, I need a switch port of this.
This is a beautiful game and a wonderful video, but perhaps it should come with a spoiler warning? I’m glad I watched this video after finishing the game as you showed the Luma Pools, the final area, and some other locals the devs never showed in trailers and I’m glad I got to discover for myself. I understand wanting to talk about the entirety of a game, but a “you need to play” seems aimed at those who haven’t played the game, not those like me who finished it.
Just finished this game and it has to be my favourite Meotroid-Vania and easily my favourite game in a long time
For a game that is a sequel to an almost perfect game, Will of the Wisps somehow improved upon pretty much everything and is almost peak perfection and tops my favorite game list of all time including beating out blind forest (i count both of them at the top though because they are both breathtakingly amazing)
I would if it hadn't randomly deleted my save file
I do love all the hollow knight influences, and it is both stunningly beautiful and one of my favorite games to play through. Still, I do miss the metroidvania feel through the game that we got in the blind forest. Wotw felt fairly linear in comparison. The side quests and the hub also made me forget the main story and lost me some of the feels from the main story. But still, amazing game and everyone should play it.
I don't know, I felt the opposite, I don't remember being able to sidetrack freely and find this many hidden things every time I unlocked something in BF, including as soon as you get out of the "tutorial"
I did kind of actively avoid progressing the story until I had exhausted all other possibilities
@@Arenuphis The sidequests were nice, especially the trade quest, I really liked that. But my point was that the exploration and learing the map by heart, the real metroid-vania feel wasn't there for me. They always told you were to go next, and you had no chance of picking what order to do things. But it doesnt have to be a metroid-vania to be a great game:)
Oh right sidequests existed
They were mostly just a minor nucience for me
Some bits of the trading quest was nice, and lorewise the reward was cool, but it just being an ingame unlock for free, which also permanently locks you out of the joys(?) Of searching for things without knowing exactly where they are, is a letdown
I was talking about stuff just laying around, potentially hidden, like cells and shards
Idk, the wisps can be dealt with in whatever order you want this time, and you can always explore pretty far ahead before they tell you to, and find something worthwhile
(Minor note, I haven't played any other metroidvanias)
As for not learning the map by heart, I blame unlimited fast travel from anywhere
Perhaps that's an interesting self imposed challenge
No waystones run
@@Arenuphis Ok, each to his or her own. I did try to do the wisps out of order and it didn't let me. Anyways, if you want to try a metroidvania masterpiece, give Hollow Knight a proper gander.
Only one that is order dependant is the sand one, and you could still finish the rest of the area and get burrow before you go somewhere else
The ending probably would have made me cry if it wasn't so hard for me to cry.
It's hard for me to cry too :(
last time i cried over a game was on Yakuza kiwami's ending
This'll scratch my hollow knight itch until silksong comes out
Finished the game yesterday and have to say will of the wisps is a masterpiece.
Here’s to hoping it one day graces the Switch. Finished Blind Forest this weekend and adored it
It will be one helluva port. This one had trouble running on Xbox One.
This game instantly became one of my favorite games of all time and I've been gaming since nearly 30 years now
I got this game when it came out thanks to game pass, but it'd still be worth it even if I had to pay full price. (Extra Suggestion: Bug Fables)
I like it when indie games don't half-ass the graphics.
Right?? Pixel art can be cool but its so overdone these days and it comes across as lazy to me. Ori obviously took dedicated accomplished artists.
It is the best game I have ever played, it has many things that I like in games, almost all things I like in games, it is the most perfect best game. It is the most smooth game, it is the most gameplay game, it is the most graphics game. It has Ku. It is the best game ever made, if you don't think this is the best game ever made, you are the worst guy ever made. Or you just don't like metroidvania's.
The ascetic of this game is absolutely beautiful.
It's one of the most unique and beautiful looking games I've ever seen.
"And a truly heartfelt story that could melt even the coldest of hearts like my own"

That looks so beautiful.. keep it up! Visuals are stunning and I am already Wondering how good the music will be...

some games usually screw up there sequels but ori failed to do that
Ori and the Will of the Wisps failed at expanding the flaws of the original.

@Brendan Lewis Now you're just misspelling everything on purpose...
@Brendan Lewis I knew it, and because of that I wanted to deliberately infurate you.
*Side-eyes Ori and the Blind Forest, which I still need to play...*
You really should! The sequel is better than the original (in my opinion), but it doesn't mean Ori and the Blind Forest can't hold it's own against the Will if the Wisps. I can even understand how some believe the original is better than the sequel. Not to mention the escape sequences and the story it has to tell that's so different from the will of the wisps. Yes, I will admit there are similarities, but at the end of the day the endings are completely different and so satisfying.
100% this within days of release. Been waiting on it since The Blind Forest!
Back again to complete the Ori games again! Thanks for the inspiration :)
I had a very mixed experience with Ori and the Will of the Wisps,
I can not deny that the art direction, story and score are excellent, and Ori does feel very swift to play as
The Glade is likely my favourite part of the game, as it gave a real sense of how our actions were making this world a better place
However, some issues I had with the previous game still exists as well as new ones
First the only visual setting that can be changed is the resolution, which means that if your computer is not able to handle the game at its highest, the only way to make it run better is to lower its resolution, which is sad considering how many other visual parameters can be tweaked in other games
Ori is very floaty, which sometimes clashes with how precise the game asks you to be (especially when platforms have a slightly unpredictable movement bc they are narrow and dangling from vines or ropes)
The chase sequences ended up being frustrating for me, as the reaction time is very short for most movements
and lastly, the RPG elements borrowed from hollow knight don't mix as well as they could, the cartograph is not as valuable as the game still provides you with a map, the one quest about trading items end had a conclusion which to me was underwhelming in both the narrative and gameplay aspects and the weapons wheels feels limiting when you need to assign traversal options to it
Overal, I am still praising its art direction, but the gameplay repeatedly kicked me out of the experience
I agree about the chases, and some of the mechanics just being bloat because it's very clear which are optimal and the rest become useless. That said I think the movement is super fun, and it's the main reason why I played it all the way. Couldn't care less about the story tho.
Yeah I ended up just never buying a map until I needed to for 100%
In a game where you can fill it out yourself it's more fun to explore
Lol at the beginning that's what you said about dark souls 2.
I love these games. What ever they do next I'm fully down to play it and complete it
Isn’t it Donkey Kong month?
What is Ori and the Will of the Wisps?
According to a Neural Network:
Ori is a collection of four playable characters, each with their own unique moves and attacks. All four play different and provide an all-new challenge to players new and old.
Ori's character revolves around the use of different kinds of energy, called Ori, as your main source of attack. Ori is often found growing in dark places, and some of the fiercest enemies are rare magical lights that glow brightly when they enter the area. As your skills improve, Ori is able to be used to attack a wider range of enemies, temporarily stunning them or even causing them to teleport.
Along with your chosen character, the player also has the power to control different dogs of Ori (known as sprites) - powerful creatures that can go toe-to-toe with the most powerful enemies.
wtf?
Definitely my favorite game of all time, it's unfortunate it's a bit short. I absolutely love everything about this game. The gameplay is smooth and fun, the world is so well made that just being in it is its own experience, the sound design and score are both legendary, and its's all bundled into a both heartwarming and heart melting story. The characters really feel alive with their strong personalities, and each enemy feels unique and well made. An absolutely perfect game aside from some performance issues.
It just felt to me like every ability you get boils down to being another jump, plus you only need the fire ball like 4 or 5 times which really disapointed me
agreed, after you get the Launch, the fire ball feels kind of redundant
@@mubashirsoomro6 Yeah, I would have loved it if they introduced the fireball much sooner. You get the launch so shortly after that you barely get any use out of the ball.
@@yeet9420 Nevertheless as far as combat is concerned it is good weapon, however I always prefered the spike, spirit edge and hammer/pound ability combo, the last two don't use any energy and first one is very powerful long range, great for bosses. For enermy encounter I just substituted the spike for the bow and used appropriate shards, and reck every enemy on screen.
@@mubashirsoomro6 I was also really disapointed that they didn't use the bow after the one dungeon where you got it from :/
@@yeet9420 Oh yeah, totally forgot about that, I used it so much for combat, I totally forgot it was also a utility weapon, but yeah they should have had all the abilities be relevant till the end. I mean we learned their mechanics such so it would have been nice to see them all utilized in some way
The only thing I can truly critisize is that ori grabs to walls by himself. This lead to some frustrating deaths because getting off a wall is not always possible without taking damage when you have many enemies nearby. Ori always grabs to walls even though you just want to jump at one and land on the ground next to it. It takes away a huge bit of controll in these situations.
I am sure this could have been prevented by binding the grab to a shoulder button.
I realize this response is late, but maybe you kept the sticky thing on? I don't remember having that issue when I unequipped the sticky thing, but there was quite a few glitches when it first came out.
Everybody really should play this game. If they play on Xbox hopefully the performance issues have been patched by now. I really enjoyed it so far, I’m currently part way through the final stage (which I find more annoying than fun) but the frame rate has impacted my enjoyment. If not for the choppy performance I’d consider it to be damn near perfect.
One of the best games I've ever played. This game has such a good design and the missions are all so well directed.
Are we going to ignore the fact that it's Donkey Kong Month???
I'm currently playing Ori and the blind forest, I'm making some progress
Bro..
First time I booted up wotw...
I cried for 15 minutes without leaving the title screen
I'm like man... Can't believe I'm playing a new Ori game..
I played this game on game pass and only 15 minutes in i quit, because i had to buy this game on Steam to support the developers. The truth is, there aren't many games like this anymore.
Fun fact : this sequel was inspired by hollow knight
Jeah, its kind of a mashup of the first Ori and Hollow Knight. And i love it :-) Hollow Knights plattforming was a little strange...
Thank you for pointing this out. I feel they took a lot from it, like Mouldwood Depths is very similar to Deepnest, the regen system, the map system, etc. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I would say I was not surprised at all by what the game had to offer - but I admit everything fits well together.
@@frey2561
To be honest I was trolling....
Actually it's not inspired by hollow knight
Look at this thread www.resetera.com/threads/is-ori-the-will-o%E2%80%99-the-wisps-pastiche-or-plagiarist.174729/page-6
The director of ori response on it and show he didn't get inspired by hollow knight but by another games
@@Uniquename12345a he's a bad liar
Just to clarify my point, I wasn't accusing them of complete plagiarism. It's just that when I played the game, I couldn't help but notice a lot of similarities, I didn't mention the shard system before but that was one too, and again, going into the Depths I couldn't help but feel like going into Deep Nest again.
But of course HK was inspired by Ori 1 and Ori 2 was inspired by HK, even if not directly, but just because of the fact that both games were hits and inspired a bunch of platformers after them. And that's what is happening all the time in and across all media genres. And that's not a bad thing.
No, my point was more that, even if I enjoyed playing this sequel, it felt like a sequel, and I was a bit disappointed because I was not much surprised by what was offered.
But don't worry I'm also afraid of what Silksong will have to offer.
Since you mentioned it: I did play Will of the Wisps first and Blind Forest afterwards and it was fantastic nonetheless! Sure, the slightly less stunning visuals felt like a minor downgrade at first, but this was quickly forgotten and it was amazing to experience the story as sort of a "prequel". I noticed quite a lot of differences between the games and I actually felt like Blind Forest was even harder - but this might be due to the fact that I stumbled upon the DLC area pretty early and I generally missed quite a lot of energy/life cells at first. I also felt like Blind Forest had more puzzle solving elements (think Forlorn Ruins), which was cool.
Best game Ive ever played.
The ending of this game. Tears, tears, tears.
I don't use 'masterpiece' a lot. I last used it for Outer Wilds. This game is a MASTERPIECE
I’ve already played through three times and am currently on my way to my fourth time
That's awesome! I've played it twice, once when it came out, and the second because I didnt get 100% and was curious about what I missed. I'm currently playing it a third time to unlock some achievements like the one where you don't spend any light, you don't touch any poisoned water, and finally I'm trying to get through it without dying. Wish me luck!
I love this game to death, but there are a couple of shortcomings that feel justified to mention.
- The difficulty of the escape sequences has been scaled way back for most of them (except the very last one). I'm glad that they didn't pull a Ginso Tree difficulty spike this time around but I think they were just a touch too soft this time around. I've seen some people complete the first sequence on their very first try (one hadn't even played Blind Forest either).
- In its current state, the game is rather rough around the edges, particularly on the Xbox version. Frame drops and audio problems occur fairly commonly and it's not too hard to accidentally stumble upon a glitch. On my first playthrough I encountered about 6 distinct glitches. Moon Studios is actively working to patch this stuff out, but I think it would be amiss to not mention the problems that some people are having.
Aside from that, great video!
It's a wonderful game, and although ice played it twice the map still lags whenever I go to pull it up. I really enjoyed it both times and am even trying to play it for a third time, but I would've enjoyed it more if they waited a few months to play test it and make sure it was complete.
I picked up part 1 on Steam a few days ago while it was on sale, for $5. Haven't actually played it yet, but maybe this is a sign 😁
Ori atWotW gave me enough of a Hollow Knight vibe that it temporarily quelched my thirst for Silksong
I really liked it but when I played it it ran very badly and I had some serious bugs. Its very good but I just hope that it gets patched.
I do believe the PC version had some bugs, but I didn't experience any :/ hopefully they are already fixed or in process
I think some of the bugs are patched out. I've still seen some mistimed animations and other quirks recently, but I had an issue where the audio would often stutter, which could be startling. That hasn't happened to me recently. It's getting better.
I had some horrible performance bugs that I would even call game-breaking at times. Really ruined some of the flow and overall experience for me which is a shame. The game would otherwise be near perfect, but now it's more like an 8.5/10. Still loved it though.

I LOVED it. My ONLY complaint is that it sometimes slows down, which can be totally forgiven for all the shit going down on screen. Hopefully that gets cleared with patches and the Series X.
*sees title of video* You can't argue with the facts
where the frick is DONKEY KONG MONTH?????
Getting some Guacamelee 2 precise aerial platforming vibes from this.
6:17 it's funny how ori and the blind forest looks so bad in comparison with its sequel, I instantly lost the love I had for the game by playing the second
It absolutely is a huge improvement that's for sure!
The second game definitely makes huge improvements to the game play systems and they both look gorgeous. I would actually say that the narrative of Blind Forest is stronger than WotW, though, and the latter reuses so many story elements in less elegant ways that the former makes it look worse in that one regard
Same :(
youll have to fight me if you want me to play it. bring it on
Love the video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
*Spoilers*. I really love this game, but the ending really let me down. We work the whole game to save Ku, yet never get to see Ku and Ori reunite. Instead, Ori seems forced into becoming a distant entity and is torn away from her family. SUPER unsatisfying. Also, Shriek's conclusion seems so cruel and out of place for a story like this. It seems like moon studios built Shriek up for redemption the whole game, and then just said fuck it, she's dead and abandoned now. It feels like Moon was trying to convey the message of "some people can't be saved", but to me, it just feels so out of place for a story like this. The ending is also treated as if it's supposed to be one we are happy about. What? Shriek died, after a life of pain and torment, never knowing kindness, and Ori was stripped away from her family. Idk tho. I'm sure the majority of people preferred a bittersweet ending, over a predictable, happy ending, but to me, it just felt so out of place and unrewarding.
I did go looking for any way to reject the wisp
Ori has it's own forest to care for, and a happy family we only recently built it
My main complaints with the general combat are that the bash ruins general combat because it basically eliminates contact damage, you just bash out of the way. Also, I wanted to be able to equip more attacks at once. There's usually one required skill to get through an area, you need a basic attack equipped, and that only leaves you with one slot that you might use for healing. I never used any of the optional abilities except for the hammer and the spike because of this.
I would but it's not on the switch and I don't have a pro controller and I suck at keyboard controls
Well, I'm used to spamming Artifact Abilities in Minecraft Dungeons (B,X, and Y) - I think I'll be just fine.
I have played it f in amazing
Okay, okay, I will. I just... Need... To play... The first one...
I'm waiting to see if it'll come out on GOG like the first one did.
This game could have been called 'Ori and the Influence of Hollow Knight/Dead Cells'. As I play through that's really what it feels like. They took their core game play, then just forced other, and in my opinion, vastly superior metroidvanias into it. Not that that is a good or bad thing, just something I've noticed.
I. AM. EXCITEEEEEED! im gonna ask my mom after i finish the first game!!! - to get the sequel OWO
Lolz this showed up on my feed the morning I decided I was going to sit down and play it.
Outstanding game.
I will
Blind Forest felt like babby's first Metroid. Will of the Wisps feels like a better designed fully featured metroidvania that is a bit linear. I'm really happy you showed off what makes this game so special. It's easily my favorite game I've played this year! Also, you should consider giving Metroid Fusion a try - it's a more linear metroidvania experience akin to Ori but with less cool maneuverability and a lot more interesting storytelling!
ITS DONKEY KONG MONTH
Shovelknight Treasure Trove or Ori and the Will of the Wisps? Which do you think is better?
The entirety of Treasure Trove probably outdoes Will of the Wisps due to the sheer amount of its quality content. But they're tough to compare side-by-side, and they're each top-tier in their respective genre.
DK Month
I started it, but didn't like the direction they went with. The missions and what not. I found myself consulting the map much more often than in the original.
In that one it felt like it had all the fat removed from it, unlike will of the whisps
Tons of boss fights? Where!!!
Well... it's not on Switch and need more capacity for my computer than the first game! Looks very cool, tho!
I started watching an LP of this to see if I liked the look of it, and ended up watching pretty much the whole game. To be honest I'm kind of glad I did that, rather than buying it. I enjoyed watching it, but it seems to me that the game is a little 'loose' or 'disjointed' - when taken as a whole . Individual elements of the game seem to be super tight for sure, but I don't know, something feels jarring to me in the way that they all get tied together. I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it is just a natural consequence of how this particular dev studio is organised. ::NOT-QUITE-A-SPOILER:: I also wasn't sure I liked what they did with the ending either. I get what they were going for, but, I feel like if they were going that way, then they could cultivated sympathy for the tragedy of that character just a teeny touch more. I don't know, I enjoyed watching it, but I'm kind of glad I didn't buy it. One opinion.
0:52 messed up the title a little
To be fair, that extra 'the' is a little wordy lol they should've left it out :P
