I wanted to add a few things that are not shown on the video: 1) Waterproof first aid kit. I have a small one about the size of a deck of cards that I keep in my waterproof bag. Some people carry tourniquets- these are good to have and I really should get one. 2) As @R.M. Adventures showed me, having a large pair of needle nose pliers and a pry bar can go a long way in helping you deal with junk in your pump or reaching things that have fallen into small cracks. 3) Scuba mask/ goggles so that you can get under the ski and clear the pump if stuck somewhere on the water without the ability to get the ski to land for inspection.
Hahah! I actually now have a tether/lanyard that will prevent that from ever happening again- that was such a fluke! But you are right- definitely I should keep a long pair of pliers and pry bar like Ramiro has In case anything gets in the pump!
This was a great video idea JD. Starting to plan a trip to Florida sometime in later March. Thanks for posting the videos. Your last one made me happy (and sad) to hear that supercharger whine! Man, I miss mine already!
Hahah I know how you feel! I get antsy if I go more than a few days without my JetSki fix. If you find yourself near Jupiter, let me know and we can set up a ride!
Wait? No drysuit?? Oh wait... it's not 35 degrees there. Haha! Those jetpilot gloves are nice bro. I need to pick up those shorts so this spring I don't get an Ohio river water enema. No joke. For them to have that, you know it's happened more than once especially how fast we go. Cool to see all the things you keep in yours. The retractable paddle is a wonderful idea. You have a whole different ballgame riding in the ocean than we do here on rivers and lakes...I can see the flares, etc etc.
Haha, yeah Ill be lucky if it gets below 65 degrees here. Scubapro also sells the same neoprene shorts with cargo pockets- which I think is ideal. And yes, its no joke- female passengers who fell off the back without proper neoprene gear seem to be the ones who inspired the warning labels- 2,000 lb of thrust will invert your insides. And I always try to prepare for the worst- I should probably get a EPIRB as well, but not currently in my budget.
I carry those things too except the radio. my phone works as I never go more than 1/4 mile from shore. I have learned to carry an extra battery because if it dies the ski will not run at all. had 2 different batteries die one at the ramp (thankfully) the other about 10 mins into the ride. seems the more expensive AGM batteries don't last log at all.
@ Dana V, funny you mention that- I actually found something in the Kawasaki manual stating that AGM batteries should not be used in the ski or the battery will experience "shortened life" due to the "design of the charging system." I have always had good luck with the Yuasa sealed lead-acid power-sports batteries- which are made in the USA and typically carry a 12 month warranty.
@Chris S dude you are completely right- I keep a small waterproof one in my dry bag- I completely forgot to show it on the video! That is very important to have with you at all times as well! Maybe I should re-edit the video…hrmmm
great content,i might add mayday and coast guard calls are answered on VHF not cell phones.that is 911,not set up to rescue you on the water.Always call the Coast Guard they are the Best at saving you.that is channel 16.of course no radio call 911,they will call marine patrol or coast guard.
The Ultra 310 is like a 4runner or a pickup truck and the GP1800 SVHO is like a corvette. On a 50 mile offshore endurance race the Kawi rider would fatigue a lot less than a rider on a GP. On a flat water drag, the GP would smoke the Kawi every time
I have a standard horizon but it’s been replaced 3 times under warranty already..wouldn’t recommend it! I hear the West Marine house brand radios are decent

Great info JD. 🤙 Don't forget to add a long screwdriver just in case you drop your keys in your steering column 😉

@@JDsWaterWorld Sounds great! Thanks again for posting and letting me get my "fix"
Important things riders miss! 💯👍.

@@JDsWaterWorld Hey, can you make a video showing stoping in your 310LX-S?
Maybe some comparison to seadoo or Yamaha- wonder about its effectiveness…

@@JDsWaterWorld that would be a lot of work 😰
Thanks
No problem at all, thanks for watching!

Man I wanna see a JD kawi vs green hulk yami on the ocean race asap. I'm Kawi team!

@@JDsWaterWorld the kawi is an ocean machine. I like both but I chose the kawasaki
Yeah me too ( as I’m sure you know by now 🤣🤣🤣) also sacrilege to have a ski named “green hulk” that isn’t a Kawasaki 😆
@@JDsWaterWorld haha agreed, Yamaha should be blue beetle if anything
I know this video is a little dated but if you see this, what radio are you using or do you recommend?
