One of the GOAT Intros. So many double entendres. And Ennis was Bill Cosby's son, that was killed on the highway while he was fixing his flat tire. That's why Jay connected the Spare tire, Highway, etc...he was basically saying how he was envious of people like Ennis growing up because they had money, and he was poor. But Ironically Ennis is the one ended up being killed in the streets, and now Jay is living lavish.
my favorite intro of all time. The way he just walked through this beat... the entendras on here are already crazy but his flow on top of when you break down the pattern of syllabus he is rhyming is insane
I had to come to this reaction as a time machine. I remember being 15 back in '01. I played this track til' the CD scratched up. One of the best ever. Just Blaze was a visionary. "plays on the key in my mental piano"...one of the hardest lines
The weight lose in my figures starting to darken my heart bout to get to my live. Money getting low turning my heart cold. Anger is related to liver health. “Im getting heated to were someone gotta give it up”
When he say “the weight loss of my figgas (figures)”meaning that his money 💵 is going down or is low going broke. And that’s starting to darken his heart. Even getting into his liver.
@@VinceBond-ky2zt but Homie please help me out. I’ve be questioning did he really write that ? because it’s too perfect. He has no other verses like that, that deep poetically. Thats some Tupac shit. One song I can think of thats also deep is one from Busta Rhymes song called why we die. And he also have that song called “you don’t know “that’s perfectly written. But other than that, I cant find others that’s deep in that level. I be questioning sometimes.
@@rudyversus Jayz is the most versatile hiphop artist of all time. He doesn’t do poetry because he probably finds it depressing which is why he chooses to rap about reality of things going on in his real life. But for those that know his catalogue knows how versatile the man is and he’s also business savvy enough to know that poetry doesnt sell so he deliberately makes his singles less poetic which is why mainstream fuck with him hard but streets respects him to cos they know his b-sides are nice as hell
That album was so wack, so people forget about that one. A real gem amidst alotta trash on that project. I regard "Dear Summer" as an intro too, even tho that was for Bleek's album lol.

Ennis Cosby was Bill Cosby's son that was killed while changing a spare (or something similar) on the highway; which makes it a perfect reference on the track for multiple reasons and no; this song definitely has a reputation and deserved one as the greatest intro in rap.
This is the first album i EVER bought. I remember going to a slauson swapmeet and buying this mf lol I had heard Jay's hits on the radio but i always wanted to hear his other songs and man....Ive been in love with hip hop ever since. I know Jayz isnt for everyone especially today but jesus this man is a god lyrically. I think he lyrics hit harder because i actually did some of the stuff he talks about so its just different i guess.
Good Reaction Homie, Key of Life is a album by Stevie Wonder, Superstitous was a song by Stevie Wonder and beads is what Stevie Wonder use to wear. It's one of the great hiphop intros
Great start to a great album! Jay was on fire at this point, he was mastered the game by time Blueprint came around and it showed. Check out an early Jay-Z song- I Can't Get Wit That Or Method Man-Grid Iron Rap featuring Streelife
