CB4 was a movie with Chris Rock about a fake thug rapper.
Stab Master Arson 😂😂
This album is a classic. Nas and the Fugees were in heavy rotation in 96
Most people talk about illmatic as nas best album but in my humble opinion this album was nas at his very best and brought him more listeners much more than his debut two years earlier
@@mikegillins4992 I hear you on that, I bumped this more than Illmatic too
@@gibranmcdonald9853 no doubt
Fam you are really good at thus shit. Subscribed
@@mikegillins4992 i have illmatic and it was written, both in cd. i liked it was written way more
"Lex with TV sets, the minimum" was an early shot at Jay-Z.
Nas has since confirmed that the line refers to JAY-Z. He told Complex:
"I saw JAY-Z driving a Lexus with the TVs in them. I got rid of my Lexus at that point and I was looking for the next best thing. It wasn’t a shot at Jay but it was just saying that’s the minimum you gotta have. It’s not a shot at him but he inspired that line. It wasn’t necessarily a shot at him but because the song was a shot at everybody, he fell into that. But he definitely inspired that line."
😮😮😮😮😮I never put that together , jay had that car early on 😮😮😮
This album is what made me start writing ✍🏽 and taking music serious a life changing album to me
I definitely need to check out the rest of the album, that's really dope it inspired you to take music serious bro! It's definitely reflected in the music you make too
Jay Z amazing. Biggie amazing. But Nas is just different. His essence. His style. His whole aura was just on another level. If you weren't from New York, Nas made you want to be from New York. Nas was just ill, simply ill.
Man Jay Z has a few good tracks, one of them even has a Nas sample, but he's overrated and how he got to being seen as one of the GOATS is beyond me. Nas is infinitely better than Jay Z in terms of raw talent. It's not even close, even Jay knows that shit. AZ is way better than Jay and he's even more underrated.
@@duality7 that's the dumbest shit I ever read in my life
@Nunmuduru stop the biggie Rakim Nas, kiss Eminem Scarface Kendrick, Cole Wayne are just a few top-tier lyrist who've said Jay is one of the best to do it..
96 Esco was the peak of rap IMO. This album was a masterpiece.
Accurate.
"Ze" refers to Alize which was popular at that time.
This track came out before you were born, NAS has all his flowers
NAS wordplay, flow and storytelling is unmatched but by Kool G and Pun.. incredible
ESCO is always been and still is the 🐐
The illness of the title "It was written" is that every lyric on the album was written on the album/CD insert. What a time to be alive bro!! Us 40+ Kats cant even explain the genius we were apart of. Salute to you young bro.
I admire your analysis and takes on the songs your very asute on your interpretation you put it in prospectives that ididnt even acknowledge' and i know im older and was around in the era of hip hop. Salute keep up the good work
Love your approach to reactions. I'm equally amazed at how much you know and don't know, but that you are curious and willing to learn, explore and process the knowledge being dropped. That IS what hip hop is all about. Expanding knowledge and wisdom to understanding and the application of what you learn into how you move through life. Peace!
Always been one of my favorite Nas cuts.
The Message is a song Pac thought was aimed at him but him and Nas cleared it up and squashed it."One life, one love, so there can only be one king"🔥🔥🔥🔥(Biggie shot).Nas 2nd album It Was Written, every song is like a movie. Nas kept growing after Illmatic. He's an artist that always improved. Im glad you enjoyed this one.
Check out M.O.P.- Power
Jay-Z- Come And Get Me
Busta Rhymes- We Comin Thru
This album went Double Platinum 2.1 Million & it was #1 for 1 month while 2Pac was still Alive that's how Good this Classic was.
PS the line "there's one life, one love so there could only be one king" was towards Biggie cause Puff Daddy & him were Conspiring to take "Nas" off the "King of New York" throne when Nas released "Illmatic" 1rst album to have a All 5 🎤 's in "The Source" while Biggie & Tupac were both Alive Still. Biggie threw some lines back on "Kick In The Door" from "Life After Death" album
Do "Tales From The Hood" - Nas
"In Too Deep" - Nas (Feat. Nature)
"The Foulness" - Nas
"The Foulness Pt 3" - Nas (Feat. Nature)
"The Second Coming" - Nas
this one changed the game
Nas the g.o.a.t. 🐐 👑.that is one of my favorite song on it was written album.1996 classic album.queens new york represent.word up son
A shame nas couldn’t keep his craft up man Un like method man and others from that era , I don’t know what happened, this is one of the dopest songs he ever made
Nas said so many rappers bit illmatic he had to elevate his style to a level it was harder to follow. I think that was one of the reasons this album was his most lyrically complexed. It's crazy he went triple platinum with this level of lyricism....n he blew off a conscious song with lauryn hill with ruled the world...
I don't believe a brotha hasn't listened to this song but I'll bite lol. Either way, this track is timeless.
Affirmative action is dope
Great reaction youngin and you right this is what pac was referring to on against all odds...always thought this was nas best project thou I like illmatic as well
God flow
Glass of Zae is the liquor Alize. A glass of Zae (Liquor) make a man think he's hard, like a boxer. Clay is Muhammed Alis birth name.
classic... Please do Bridging the gap by NAS ft. his pops
(Oludara) u know i never failed you bro
Can't believe this is your first
Classic
Hopefully you do a reaction Nas - Memory Lane and an Ez Mil - IDK brotha since your into Lyricism Hip Hop
Yes he's the first to use the sample
Nas, Biggie, Jigga and G Rap can talk that fly shit like nobody’s business!
Another tidbit…this whole album phucked Pac’s head up. The Outlaws said that he couldn’t stop listening to it. If Illmatic was dope, this album was Nas on a level that few rappers ever attain…even Nas hasn’t really topped the lyricism on “It Was Written” either. It’s Nas’s MASTERPIECE!
Thats why it felt like Pac put more into his lyrics on Makaveli. He had to step it up. I always thought that (Makaveli)was the peak of his lyricism. He was even inspired by Nas to write Me And My Girlfriend after hearing I Gave You Power
@@anonymousapocalypse247 yep. Pac was a huge fan of Nas no matter what his fans say.
🎵🎵🎤🔮🎤🎵
"J-Dawg - Ride on 4's" would be dope
Listen to Affirmative Action 💯
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
He was 23 when this came OUT. check your bars and check your 23 year old aspiring talents
Glass of Zah= ( Aliza)
"Fake thug no love you get a slug, cb4 gusto your luck low"
Meaning please
Plz do, The dugout by boot camp clik next
Cassius Clay is Muhammad Ali
while I think Illmatic is the stronger album on the whole (the stars just lined up right with the beats) the lyricism on It Was Written is on a higher level
I must be old lol. All the reactions i see for miss or don't know the cb4 reference. Cb4 was a Chris Rock movie, he was basically a fake thug rapper modeled off of Easy E. Nas is basically playing off the fake thug line.
“Went to the hospital and took 5 like me’
@PRSPR Just su you know this was a Biggie dis
How about Talib Kweli- Hostile Gospel pt.2
WATCH CB4
Piranhas are vicious fish... We are all fish in the pond. That's the comparison
Fake thug no love was a small jab at PAC in my opinion you get the slug calling him cb4 gusto his luck low Nas didn't know til he was drunk tho
Bro, be consistent as you wanna be. You can’t be doing this shit all the time while handling your other business.
