    I really do think the turntables was worth the extra year. Increasing capacity is the way to go especially when it can get 100 degrees on some summer days.

      absolutely! I think building this ride without the turntable would've been a big mistake! I expect it'll be very popular this summer...

      In the case of replacing the original Aquaman, I think it was a good move, but they would have probably been better served by fixing up that entire midway with more landscaping and shade trees. That and Gothlam City are two very miserable sections to begin your day at what is otherwise one of the nicest parks in the chain.

  • @maxhagenauer24
    @maxhagenauer24 Год назад +14

    I remember riding this and I really enjoyed it, it's very short but the backwards ejector airtime over the hill is crazy and the floater on the spike is also crazy.

    This is a bit of a surprising reaction to me. I mean my boyfriend and I went and rode it in March and adored it. It was 55 degrees outside and we rode it a few times. We both thought it was a great addition to Over Texas and hoped it would find its way to other parks.

    I find water coasters to often be underwhelming because they seem like they aren't committed to being either a water ride or a coaster. I think Journey to Atlantis at SWO is a major exception but that's because it seems more committed to being a water ride and it's a good one. I've never seen a water coaster that was impressive as a coaster specifically. In most cases I'd rather a ride commit to one thing and be good at it instead of being a combination of two mediocre rides. Also, I think a water coaster really requires theming to feel remotely satisfying.

  • @jeffcunningham8807

    I absolutely love this ride tbh. Yes it’s hot the most thrilling coaster. But it’s extremely fun imo and love the airtime on the last launch

  • @thaakiidty

    I rode it a month ago and absolutely enjoyed it. While soaked riding in the front, I got great airtime in the back row. I’d say if you haven’t ridden it, give it a go.

  • @supremefan

    I think these look like a great replacement for the old splash rides that only went up then down. Now it doesn't compete with themed ones like Jurassic Park but it's better then the old versions Six Flags had at many parks.

  • @wayne_jkl
    @wayne_jkl Год назад +1

    @7:18 Yeah, I was thinking this is the modern-day SF interpretation of the old Shoot the Chutes. It's a hot day, get wet, cool off.

  • @tylarlozano1229
    @tylarlozano1229 Год назад +3

    Rode it quite a bit a couple weekends ago during Lone Star Coasterthon, I think it’s a pretty solid ride, but I also kinda set my expectations a bit lower to make sure I wouldn’t be underwhelmed, overall it paid off and I really enjoyed it. I’d definitely at least attempt to ride it anytime I’m at SFOT, especially if it’s hot out, besides, I’d much rather ride this thing than say Journey To Atlantis at SWSA or a river rapids ride. I am curious to see how Catapult Falls will compare to this though, it shouldn’t be to much longer before that happens.

    The takeaway at the end of this video is really the only important part.
    This is a water ride. Its a suitable replacement for shoot the chutes that are rapidly wearing out. It's better than those.
    There are other water coasters that are better. But they're bigger and more expensive. So in the end this is a good replacement for a shoot the chute.

  • @oneandonlysound3453
    @oneandonlysound3453 Год назад +4

    Six Flags Over Georgia should be a top contender to get one of these. There only water ride is a pain to get too and the rest of the park especially if your on the opposite side of it...yeah. Though id LOVE to see that looping model they have be built. That truly looks insane. As for this version its a shuttle water ride/coaster so yeah, i wouldn't think itd be a great coaster though i would like to see a model more sped up if possible.

    • @CoasterStudios
      @CoasterStudios  Год назад

      I could see one of these at SFOG! I think it'll be dependant though on how well this one does. I could also see it being a one and done for Six Flags.

    • @oneandonlysound3453
      @oneandonlysound3453 Год назад

      @@CoasterStudios Yeah, I can figure both. I should give SFOG a break for water rides, since it has the flume right in the front too (as if I didn't know that first thing I hit in summer sun out there). Ideally a launched single rail would be perfect but even a normal one would be fine, and floorless georgia sorcher (never gonna stop wishing for the last one even if it's not that bad).

  • @alantrotter2077
    @alantrotter2077 Год назад +2

    From a coaster perspective, you are spot on, but from a business perspective, I think this model takes off as it allows the parks to have a water ride and market it as a coaster. I also don't feel it is a huge investment and the footprint isn't that big. It will be a one and done for me, like Journey to Atlantis in San Antonio.

    • @CoasterStudios
      @CoasterStudios  Год назад +1

      That's a very fair point! I agree marketability is very high- hence why I'm not surprised this model is taking off a little. I expect we'll see more in the future too

    I was shocked when I saw the first version. As a European, I didn't understand why they were doing it. It's significantly hotter where you are compared to us, and partly because there is less shade. Moreover, the construction period was not exactly impressive. Nonetheless, I think the facility is quite alright, especially for children who find it amusing. It doesn't always have to be higher, faster, and further. Sometimes, we must just go beyond our comfort zone and consider the kids who do not want something that extreme. They, too, want to have fun. All in all, it's a sensible expansion. At least this type of expansion is better than the next wild mouse roller coaster.😅

    I have a feeling this will be the next cloned ride in the chain. They've been removing so many water rides in their parks, it seems like a relatively cheap way to add a coaster, a thrill ride and a water ride with one piece of capital. Small footprint, little theming. Only question for me is will they chase their own record, and add an extra foot as it gets added to the large market parks, or will they all just be marketed as "the tallest, fastest water coaster" in their region

    I recently rode it 5 times in Walibi Belgium, full boat every time. I only got reasonably wet once, but all other times it was just a few splashes and one time even nothing. Seeing this review, I would thus expect it is maybe controllable? Depending on the amount of water they dump in the splash basin? Did you got really wet on the one in Walibi as well?
    I also kind of disagree on the excitement level of this ride, I found it quite impactful when going up & down the peaks. I would even say that the water element is the disappointing part. Oh, how opinions can be different... :D The turntable is undeniably cool though. Thanks for the review.
