I took a friend to Universal for his first visit and we walked into the Hulk queue before there were any trains running. We ended up in the last car of the first train of the day. I told him nothing about the ride before we got on and it was before RUclips so he didn't know what to expect. Believe me when I tell you you have never heard a grown man scream as loud or as long as when that train launched out of the tunnel! Such a great ride.

I went to Universal Orlando in 2003, when I was almost 11. I saved the Hulk for the end of the day as I was plucking up the courage to finally do it (on my own - I'm an only child and my parents didn't want to go on it lol). I finished it and I LOVED it so much I ended up doing it about another six or seven times that evening. That was a great day.

This is 100% me with how I became a fanatic. I had been so afraid of most big coasters. I had ridden Batman at SFOT but that was the only big coaster I'd ride then we went to Orlando and I road Hulk and was off to the races. I road Hagrids, Rip Ride, and Velocicoaster and since then I've been om the journey to ride any and everything I can.

I did DeceptiCoaster last summer and it is quite good! It is buttery smooth. The positives are definitely still there and the theming is absolutely immaculate. It also has a fantastic locker system that actually uses Face ID! However the whip you’d get on the Hulk going into that zero g roll and the cobra roll and the first corkscrew is completely gone, which is a big bummer for me.

I've been on Decepticoaster for more than 70 times, and i can tell Incredible Hulk feels more like the old B&M style with some crazy transitions but Decepticoaster feels like the new gen B&M looper with slower and more gradual transitions and it feels newer of course with these ‘vests'😂, it's hard to say which one is better because they kind of have different styles, but definitely both of them are really good ride !

I've been on Hulk twice now. Each time I banged my head exactly once, but it didn't hurt at all, so I didn't mind. The launch is probably my favorite launch that I've been on, though I haven't been on that many launch coasters. B&M verticle loops are always a good time, so any time there's 2 of them is more than welcome. It's a really good way to start the day at Islands and is more than worthy to be in the same park as Velocicoaster and Hagrids.

One of my all time favorites! First rode it back in 2005. While it wasn’t my first coaster, it was the first one with inversions! I have ridden this coaster the most. We go to Universal Orlando at least every year and I find myself ridding this at least 4-5 times a trip. **Best hack for Hulk is the Single Rider line.** When we were there in March the regular queue was like 30-40 minutes and single rider was a walk on. After 3 consecutive rides in about 10 minutes I had to take a break lol

Every time I go to Islands of Adventure I get several rides on this. It is absolutely a must do for any coaster fanatics and one of my all time favorites! Lines used to be super long for this, but now with Velocicoaster open they are actually shorter since that ride is new and seemed to have it's crowd shifting over there. Both are great rides btw.

A few seconds in and that's a really sweet story about this being the ride to get you into rides. I have a similar experience with a ride in this park... the Velocicoaster! I was super nervous to ride it when I first went on it in May of 2022, but I credit it with getting me into roller coasters. 150 credits later and I've come a long way ;)

That is a 100% accurate review. I've been on Hulk many times since my first visit to IOA in 2002, and a few times since the retrack as well. You hit every point perfectly, from the fantastic uphill launch into the zero-g roll, to the forceful cobra roll, (I also love both vertical loops so much - but I also love vertical loops more than any other inversion....zero-g rolls are close behind), to the lackluster second half after the break run. I wonder if the break run happened slightly earlier in the ride and they moved one of the earlier inversions to the second half so that there'd be two inversions instead of one after the midcourse, if that would have evened out the pace better? But that first half is fire. I still prefer Velocicoaster these days by a mile, but Hulk was epic when it was the new kid in town.

  • @Jushwa
    @Jushwa 25 дней назад

Good points about the roughness, I made the mistake of starting the day with this one 😆Sitting at the back even after the refurb was fun but properly and surprisingly rough, would recommend sitting up front for a smoother ride if you don't want to feel like your brain is bouncing in your head. I also don't remember the soundtrack being present, or maybe it wasn't playing when I rode it in 2023. Hagrids and Velocicoaster felt smooth like butter/flying in comparison

It's interesting to hear you say that riding The Incredible Hulk was the beginning of your interest for roller coaster. Growing up, larger roller coasters always intimidated me and going upside down was the one thing I was not willing to try. Hulk was the first upside down ride I tried and I immediately wondered why I had made such a big deal out of it since I found we were strapped so safely into the seat that it really was not that big of a deal.
I got the chance to attend a private event where the company had rented the Marvel section of Islands of Adventure and since there was no lineup, the ride operators offered for us to stay on Hulk and go for another turn, so I did get to do a few consecutive laps on it. (We also got to do the same on Doctor Doom's Fearfall ride.) That was a pretty epic evening.

Fun fact that fake track for the entrance is former old track and that train on it is an OG train. Also about the smoothness, as of recently Kumba was given new wheels and a few tweaks to somehow be as smooth as Mako. So I wonder if something like that can impact the smoothness on these types of B&M coasters.

It's funny that you credit the Hulkster with being the roller coaster that started your obsession with coasters to begin with, because this was the very first ride that got me into roller coasters too! I think it was in 2005 or 2006, but I'm not 100% sure.
Now, keep in mind that before then, and to my regret, I had avoided amusement parks like the plague. My dad kind of ruined that prospect for me when he insisted on taking me on this simulator ride when I was a kid (5 or 6 I think), which I soon came to associate with stomach-churning aches and nausea, as if I had eaten way too much. Needless to say, Six Flags Georgia was far away from my thoughts, and we never went while living in Atlanta, to my relief at the time.
Around the time that I was 15 or 16, my family and I were out at Universal, and my father suggested giving the Hulk another try. Before I saw those test seats that they leave outside for guests to try in order to make sure that they can ride safely, I always wondered how riders routinely rode these *things* without falling out and going *splat* on the ground below. Upon inspecting the seat and trying on the Over-the-Shoulder Restraint and seat belt for the first time, I understood, and concluded that of the worst things that could happen, falling out of the train and breaking every bone in my body was a practically impossible event. This also began my obsession with different kinds of restraints, how they work, and now I consider lowering the restraints or strapping myself in as part of the quintessential part of the ride experience, akin to a very import part of some ritual.
As the line reached the car, I experienced something that I regrettably don't experience much anymore. My hands and legs would shake, but as I sat down, I realized that it wasn't just from fear, but from anticipation. This only happens very rarely now on rides that I've been anticipating for a long time. But I didn't understand why people loved these things until during the ride. The inversions, the launch and loops that pushes you aggressively back in your seat-it is like being wrapped in this cocoon of invisible energy.
And like some drug, some sex addict, I could not get enough. I've ridden the Incredible Hulk more times than I can count, with only the long lines preventing me from truly marathoning it, but even so, I've easily ridden it 3 or 4 times in one day. In fact, that was the last time I rode the Hulk (and my cousin was with me, which made the experience all the better!) I've also gone on some rides that some might consider truly insane, such as the Slingshots and even a Skyscraper ever since, and I'm now anticipating trying the Velocicoaster for my Birthday with my (same) cousin in a couple of weeks, even if the Hulkster is subjectively more intense. Speaking of the Hulk, I don't think I would have ever tried an inverting roller coaster without OTSRs if I had never gone on in the first place, and had done so multiple times with the train getting delayed before entering the station being the biggest incident I've experienced.
At this point, I trust the thrill ride industry, trust my ability to intuitively know how to use whatever restraints they decide to use safely and effectively, and I trust implicitly influencers/content producers such as yourself who are knowledgeable about which rides are safe and recommended and which are not, even if I think that the notion of an inverting coaster without OTSR is *batshit INSANE*!
On another note, am I built differently? Because I've never had a problem with greying out on the Hulk. Then again, I've been on this ride so many times, that's there's not much of anything new to see, and I'll often just close my eyes, so that I can sharpen my sense touch, and just focus entirely on the feeling of being inverted and pulling G's. I've been on this ride so much, I think I can recognize each element with my eyes closed, but this also means that I wouldn't be able to tell if I'm greying out!
It's kind of funny, reading this description of the Hulk of being this "Super Intense Looping Coaster", especially when compared to many of the other coasters that have been featured on this channel. Mindbender (RIP), I305, X2... These all appear make the Hulk appear tame in comparison.
Perhaps the Incredible Hulk is deserving of the title "Super Intense Looping Coaster", but to me, it will always be "My First Roller Coaster", it will always hold a special place in my heart, and I intend to be there when they finish the next retracking, which they will likely have to do again to keep it operating. But it is so iconic, I can't imagine anything taking its place. I think that it is the perfect starter coaster for tweens who have not experience roller coasters as of yet. The Hulk encapsulates everything that makes these train-like machines great, but without being overwhelming, and I hope that he will faithfully remain there to please new riders for generations to come.
Note: I re-did this after going to the gym, and having dinner, because I knew I could write this so much better!

The one time I went to this park (nearly a decade ago now) Hulk was closed :( but at least I could marathon dueling dragons right before they closed for good. Such a unique invert. IMO stuff like velocicoaster can't replace the uniqueness and thrill of dueling inverts.

This is interesting, I rode it a long time ago, 2012 if I'm not mistaken, definitely before the retrack and remember thinking it was super smooth, could it be that if got rougher after this retrack and new trains or is the experience still about the same now and I'm misremembering?

I rode this at night a few years ago and definitely felt like a blur lol. Nonetheless, I agree that its a solid B&M coaster and the theming is great.

Taylor, you and I are so similar!
We’re both just about similar age, also both from VA. And you rode this ride for the first time in 2011, I rode it for the first time in 2012. Both of us a bit nervous at first but after… mannnn it was so much fun
I could almost guarantee your family went on an Orlando trip, hitting the parks like Disney Universal and Sea World, same with me but just a year later!

We actually only went to Islands of Adventure and Magic Kingdom! I didn’t visit the other Orlando parks until 2017

"this ride would not work with a lift hill, it would valley in the cobra roll", obviously the lift hill would be higher than the zero g roll after the launch 😅

In some ways, I kinda wish they kept the original audio that you hear during the lift section before you launch.
When Bruce Banner says "I think... I think this time, it's going to work" then the computer comes in, saying there's a malfunction, and Bruce screams "No, No, Noooo!" as it launches out of the top.
I haven't been on this ride since maybe 2017/18, but I did go on it when the re-tracking had taken place.
(Edit: I haven't been to this park since Velocicoaster and Hagrid's came to the park if that helps, but I was there before both of them came to the park.)
So I don't know if they brought it back or not, or if it was there when the re-tracking and that took place and I don't remember it, but I always liked that part.
I do really like this ride, and just like you said, will always ride it every time I go to this park.
