    This show has far more fans TODAY than it ever did when it was airing. If only we could get a new series SGU: Ressurection

      Because back then people compared it directly to SG1 and SG1 had much more charismatic characters.

      Good luck buying it off MGM. Joe Flanigan bought the SGA sets and MGM wouldn't budge.

    The episode where Eli and his mom met on the ship, where Stargate let his mom using the stones visit the ship… Before she died was one of the most touching inspirational and eloquently written episodes of all time.

    Then the ship isn't solar powered, If you have to a certain type of star, it must be a Hydrogen Scope. Still, I think there needs to be another SGU, What happened to Eli Wallace? did he make it,... What would we find at the centre of the universe, an Intelligence? SGU - The Return!

    The Ancients put FTL to Destiny because they didn't have hyperdrive?! Um excuse me?! They had effin' Stargates!!!
    I prefer the explanation that they didn't put hyperdrive onto Destiny because they didn't want her to skip anything, they wanted her to collect data through her whole journey... After all - the journey itself is the goal.

      So what? Stargates are artificial wormholes. Hyperspace is another plane of existence where the laws of relativity/speeds don't exist. Destiny's FTL drive is unknown but allows FTL-travel yet not through the plane of existence that is Hyperspace.

    • @random3857
      @random3857 6 лет назад

      Actually, that doesn't at all make sense. Can you tell me where you heard of it? As a Hyperspace drive allows Quick travel in short burts. So Destiny could have traveled quickly but stopped frequently to gather data, rather than slowly and constantly with the current one. And a Hyerspace drive allows jumping again after stopping fast.

      Cory Bernhardt Because they had ZPMs and ZPMs are a far safer and more versatile form of power

      Rush says: "This ship was launched to solve a mystery, not by arriving at some ultimate destination where all the questions are answered at one time, but by accumulating knowledge bit by bit."

    Not quite Solar Power, more like Fusion Power. :P
    But a great concept, never the less.

      Absolutely a great concept! I still remember watching that episode and being just jaw dropping stunned... WHAT?! Awesome writing!

    6:08 the IJN yamato was outfitted with special AA rounds that went in their main battery turrets. it would explode into a cloud of fire and shrapnel over 800meters. but you couldnt fire the main battery with people on the deck and the other AA batteries so it wasnt a very well thought out idea

    The shield is the stupidest thing about this ship....All Powerfull shield but fails everytime.

    • @HellsRaven4444
      @HellsRaven4444 8 лет назад +6

      +saquist Considering how old the ship is and all the damage that has been accumulated within those years, the fact that the shields are still working is a miracle already. The fact that it only fails every so often instead of instantly the moment something hits it should be a testament to how good it is after all that punishment. Not to mention that the shield design is quite literally millions of years out of date, it still manages to stand up quite well against modern weaponry. Imagine taking a wooden shield and using it to block a battleship cannon, repetitively for millions of years. That is what Destiny managed to do.

      While it's true it's staying power is amazing so is all that we know about ancient technology which is why it's around to be found in the first place.
      Don't make too much out the writers stupidity. They've already admitted it's an arbitrary plot device when they decide the shield works perfectly in a star but can't maintain indefinitely against fighter weapon power.
      There is no way a ship capable outputting this much power to fend off a star can't stop fighters of less quality and size for an ridiculously extended period of time.

      The shield works perfectly in the star because it has practically infinite energy from the star.

    Thanks for providing us so much to think about and plan about and wonder about which will absolutely NOT help us survive what is upon us! You yourselves now know you have provided fantasy where reality was so badly needed! I now you will now seek some sort of absolution by providing a real road map to survival on this Earth after WWIII. Or are these ideas too much for you? Write damn it! Write something that matters for a change!

    The show suffered from too many human interpersonal relationship scenarios
    This got too be the boring part of the series. For me action scenarios are can carry the viewers imagination much better.
